I don’t how this happened, because it feels like I’ve been looking forward to this trip forever, but I’m leaving for Hawaii in less than two weeks! — which means that I probably should start packing RIGHT NOW.
It’s all about portable beauty, and I’m hell-bent on finding multitasking makeup to bring that won’t take up a lot of room, so as to have more room to bring home dashboard hula girls, macadamia nuts and the like.
Let’s make this a series! I’m gonna call it “Take Me With You,” and the first entry is these new Nudestix Nudies. They were recently added to the Nudestix permanent line.
Nudestix is a cruelty-free Canadian brand, and everything in their line comes in a pencil or some kind of stick packaging.
Yes, this makes them great for travel.
The Nudies are multipurpose creams for your cheeks, lids and lips. They’re $30 each and come in five shades. One end has a cream stick, and the other end has a dense, soft brush to apply and blend the product.
I’ve tried two of them — cool pink Bare Back (um…which I’m pretty sure refers to something naughty) and rosy nude Naughty N’ Spice.
I love using these as cream blushes because they last forever and a day on my dry cheeks. Not to mention (although I’m mentioning it now), they don’t push around whatever products I wear underneath them, like if I’m sporting a tinted moisturizer, BB cream and/or concealer. They also apply evenly and stay intact throughout the day.
When I use them as blushes, I load up a finger by rubbing the cream stick a few times, then I dab that on my cheeks and blend either with my fingers or the brush on the other end of the stick. They pretty much work the same way whichever one I use.
Even though I hardly ever do matching monochromatic eyeshadow and blush, because variety (which I like to pronounce “var-eye-eh-TAY”) is the spice of life, I totally do use these as eyeshadows, too.
And they’ll work as lipsticks in a pinch…but the mattes will catch on any lip flakes, so I’d get a lip balm up in there, either under or on top of them.
They’re perfect little travel companions, and they’re waiting for your lovin’ embrace online and at Sephora stores right meow.
Fruit-infused water
OK, so this 18.6-oz. bottle doesn’t hold nearly enough water to carry me for long (I drink A LOT of water, or at least I try to), but this new doohickey is so much fun, so I’ve been using it anyway. It’s a tea infuser by Grosche.
The infuser is built into the bottom of the bottle. Technically, it’s designed for loose tea, but chopped fruit, herbs and whatnot fit in there just fine. Today I made a strawberry and blackberry combo.
The bottle’s cute and totally works, but I just wish it was about three times bigger!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

These are cute! I have a Pur cheek stain stick with similar packaging with the brush and everything and it’s very cute, but this formula looks better.

Oh yes, Bare Back refers to something naughty. But as always with these names I try ti not let them distract me from the product…

Naughty n Spice is calling my name!

The only multipurpose lip/cheek products I’ve ever used are the Becca beach tints and I do like them (in the summer when my lips aren’t usually dry and flakey).
I hear you on the small bottles – they’re convenient in the car but don’t last very long. I have a couple of glass 32 oz that I bring to work every day. Like you, I drink a lot of water. 🙂

Oh my these are beautiful! I wonder if they would show up as pigmented on me though? BTW, I love your necklace! Where did you get it?
Karen says
Hi Indya,
It’s the branch necklace by Misa Jewelry.

I don’t do much travelling, but I love the concept of a multitasking product especially in the summer for trips to the beach. I recently saw the new Bobbi Brown Glow sticks and was thinking about them for bronzing. I also am interested in the Nars multiples for my cheeks and lips. Not sure if they are good for dry skin. I have been using my lipstick to add color to my cheeks lately. i am being lazy and trying not to use brushes. Any thoughts?

Love these on you! The colors look so fresh on your skin. Do you think these would work on oily skin also? We have a cruise coming up at Christmas (no really, it’ll be here before I know it!) and I have a tendency to take “ALL THE MAKEUPS” when I travel. It would be great if I could edit a least a little.

Both look very pretty!

I’ve been lurking a long time, Karen. My baby is made of perpetual motion and allows little time for thoughtful comments. I went to Hawaii last month. Guuuuuuuuuurl things for you to consider:
– Get the Macadamia nuts at home unless it’s a flavor you can’t find here.
– Lululun Hawaii Face Masks Lululun is a Japanese brand but this set is exclusively sold in ABC stores in Hawaii.
– The Disney Store has Hawaii-exclusive merchandise for you and baby.
– Ala Moana (that impossibly huge mall in Waikiki) has a food court on the ground floor that’s almost all Japanese food. Like GOOD Japanese food from real Japanese restaurants/vendors.

Hi Tennyoceres,
Oh, it’s so good to see you! How old is your little one now?
Thank you for the list because I’m always looking for places to shop and eat on the island. I can’t to go back! It’s been forever since I’ve visited Oahu.
Tennyoceres says
Running, climbing, putting on all of Nanay’s fancy skincare when she’s not looking (how did you open that twist cap baby?). Y’know. Toddler stuff. Baby CC will get there soon if she hasn’t already.
If you gotta revisit Oahu tourist traps go back to Matsumoto Shave Ice. They redid a few years ago the whole area (a parking lot?! clear lines?!). The souvenir shop has matching mom/baby shirts for your consideration.

Gorgeous like it very much 🙂
