Why aren’t you going??? If I lived in CA I would go and nothing would stop me!!!!!!!!!!!
Karen says
Hi Jenna,
I have some stuff going on this weekend. Plus, to get down there takes time. I’m in Northern California, which is 9 hours away by car… I do hope to go there next year, though!
How’s your Thursday going? It’s sunny here today, FINALLY!
Sejal says
I’m from LA and unfortunately I will be out of town! I’m so bummed….

Karen says
Hi Sejal,
Ah, bummer! There’s always next year, right?
Jenna says
My Thursday is great on one hand because I have the day off, but awful on the other because I’m bored stiff!!! It’s cloudy and rainy here in Massachusetts =(
Okay, a 9 hour drive is a lot. I forgive you for not going now =)
Karen says
Hi Jenna,
It seems like the weather for this summer has been so weird! It’s been super cloudy and cold here lately, too. I’m ready for some HEAT!
What kind of job do you have? Oh, and how did the LSAT go?!?
Jenna says
I’m working for an immigration law firm as a part-time paralegal support intern. Basically I do the same work as a paralegal, but they get to pay me way less. I was hoping it would evolve into a real, full-time paralegal position since I have my B.A. and all and used to work for them when I was in college, but it doesn’t seem to be working that way. They are trying to push me into more administrative duties. So right now I’m considering other options.
The LSAT was really hard and stressful and I’m glad it’s over. I don’t get my score though for another 2 weeks which is soooo lame!
Dao says
I wish I could go, too! That sounds really interesting and I wonder if they have anything like that on the East Coast.

Pasadena…that’s not to far!
I might have to take some makeup-loving friends to this 🙂
Tanya says
So close, but so far….I’m about 3 hours away (oh, the advantages of living in the Central Valley!), but I’ve got SO many things going on this weekend, and Hello! It’s Father’s Day Weekend!!! Don’t they know that?! Well, anyways, hopefully they won’t make the same scheduling mistake next year- I’m definitely going to try to make it out!!
Melanie says
I’m going! I’ve been wanting to go since I missed it last year. My hubbie’s coming with me too!! I’ve never been before but do theatrical makeup in the Bay Area.
We’re driving down today, gonna make a mini vacation out of it.
🙂

Hi Melanie,
Sounds like fun. I think I will get El Hub to go with me next year.
Do you do makeup for live shows or movies?
Anh says
I’ll be going on Saturday!

Karen,
Thank you for posting a picture of Zachary Quinto (new Spock from Star Trek and Sylar from Heroes). He’s so dreamy!! I want some vulcan eyebrows and ears somthin’ fierce! Though poor Zach shaved his off, I’m not as brave!
Karen says
Hi Tania,
Did you ever watch him on Tori Spelling’s old show on VH1, Notorious? He played her BFF!
Jessica says
MAN! it’s right down the freeway from me but i can’t go! ah the life of a student . . . well actually, i just spent too much money on nailpolish this week.
Karen says
Hi Jessica,
Oh, what nail polishes did you get?
Gloria says
OMG, Sylar played Tori Spelling’s bf on Notorious? I loved that show but I didn’t notice him until he became Sylar!!
And I’m only going on Sunday for a few hours, so I’m probably just getting the floor pass. My sister lives in Pasadena, but she doesn’t like waking up to go anywhere at 10 in the morning, so I have to wait until she’s awake.
Good thing I’m considerably close too (um about 25 miles away in LA?). I’m super duper excited, but I forgot to purchase my advanced tickets!

Hi Karen! Sorry it took so long to reply, IMATS was SO informative,
I was a sponge the entire weekend. Got to meet just about all of
my favorite makeup artists – Ve Neill, Dany Sanz, Eve Pearl, Nolan Robert and Maxi from “Blush”. I highly recommed it to anyone interested in makeup or special effects. My husband loved it too, he was fascinated by the body art and silicone appliance work.
I do makeup for the Thrillpeddlers in SF. It’s grand guignol live theatre and we just started a production called “Pearls Over Shanghai” which has a lot of really over the top glittery makeup. I had to design for a cast of 40!
