Have you heard? Next month we’re getting three new neighbors on Benefit’s Crescent Row. Yup, you remember their cousins, right? — those spunky gals from last year?
Girls of the original Benefit Crescent Row…
Like those first three fragrances, the new ones were also named after different imaginary girls, complete with colorful backstory poems replete with style and charm.
There’s Garden of Good and Eva, Lookin’ to Rock Rita and Hooked on Carmella, each of them eau de toilettes ($36 apiece).
They flutter onto Benefit counters, stores and Sephora next month. Here are some details from Benefit…
Garden of Good and Eva
Eva’s a crisp and citrusy floral with a full-time free spirit, and she’s the kind of friend you can never refuse, even when she’s asking you to ditch work for a day at the beach!
Official fragrance notes: Eva opens with notes of pear, watermelon, ozone accords (an accord is when three or four notes blend together to create a new scent) and muguet (Lily of the Valley), sauntering from there into a heart of rosebud, jasmine petals, green violet leaves and freesia. Finally, she mellows into a mix of sandalwood, musk and cedarwood.
Come away with Eva
Breeze down a lush lane
She’s the fresh rush of splendor
You can’t quite explain
So vividly vibrant
With a carefree deameanor
She whirls off to a place
Where grasses are greener
Sounds like Eva might make a perfect companion for a summer road trip down the coast.
Lookin’ to Rock Rita
Exhilarating Rita, all green and fruity, hums along in high heels and high fashion. You can bet she’ll be ready for adventure at the drop of a hat!
Official fragrance notes: Opening with a blend of lemon, coconut and freesia, Rita boogies into a heart of juicy fig, hyacinth and violet before clearing the dance floor for bottom notes of sandalwood, Brazilian rosewood and vanilla, YUM!
Rita’s ready to rock
And dressed to thrill
With a flavor for risks
Brilliant dreams to fulfill
Juiced up on extras
And dazzling fashions
A modern-day paradise
Of shake-it-up passions
Doesn’t Rita sound like the one to go clubbing with? I just hope she doesn’t ditch me for a cute boy!
So Hooked on Carmella
She’s the girl at dinner who captures every single heart!
Official fragrance notes: Carmella starts her seduction with yummy lemon, grapefruit and rhubarb before melting into cyclamen (a flower), peony and tiare flower. She ends the evening (with company, of course) by drying down into a warm finish of vanilla, sandalwood and amber.
When it comes to Carmella
Don’t ask and don’t tell
A light touch has admirers
Under her spell
Her sweet sensuality
No one would guess
So exquisite, enticing…
An intimate caress
Carmella could make date nights more special than the rest!
So tell me — which of the new Crescent Row Second Story girls do you resemble most? I think I might be an Eva. 🙂
CCL salad bar
WARNING: Crazy cat lady moment. I’ve started doing some gardening out front, and what do you suppose I planted? Rows of beautiful flowers? Vegetables galore?
Catnip.
I planted catnip.
And cat grass.
I planted them in pots beside three overgrown rosemary bushes (anyone need fresh herbs?). Tabs can’t wait for them to sprout!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. You made it to Friday, girl (round of applause!). What are your weekend plans?
Laura says
Ahh I love that I’m not the only crazy cat lady lol
I got my cat the kitty grass a bunch times and each time he proceeded to drag the pot across the room and leave dirt everywhere and he’s really not a fan of catnip lol troublemaker!
Karen says
LOL! Maybe he was just trying to help you with the gardening?
Rita says
Wow, a fragrance with my name on it. I hope I can check Rita out next month in person. I might also like Carmella: lemon, grapefruit and rhubarb – yum!
Karen says
Oh, I hope you like it. It would be kinda like having a personalized scent!
Karen B says
When it comes to the descriptions I’m an Eva kinda gal: roadtrips for real!! However when I look at the notes Carmella’d be more my cup of tea.
Busy busy weekend ahead for me. Rehearsal for my singing exam today, rehearsal with the kids this evening. And tomorrow another choreo/acting rehearsal for the musical. But good busy you know 😉
.-= Karen B’s last blog post… Friday Fame: B. Makowsky =-.
Karen says
Wow! You’ve got a lot of singing going on this weekend. Have fun!
Karen B says
Thanks. Today has been a mostly stressful day (and the rehearsal tonight will be nothing less I’m afraid) but tomorrow is going to be glorious.
And I totally forgot to tell you that tomorrow afternoon we’re doing a dessert buffet in the afternoon for my brother’s birthday 🙂 He turned 21 on Wednesday.
.-= Karen B’s last blog post… Friday Fame: B. Makowsky =-.
Karen says
How fun! How was the dessert buffet? I hope you at enough for me to vicariously live through you.
Arianne says
What’s this?! You can buy and plant catnip? Sounds like that should be illegal. 😛 Kitties ’round the world would be bouncing off walls. Dangerous.
Curious to smell Eva. Sounds really nice and summery!

Karen says
Yes! I’ll be the neighborhood catnip dealer, heh!
Jeni says
The packaging is cute – it looks like a gold-colored Redi Whip whipped cream!!
And my cats are so jealous of your cat!
.-= Jeni’s last blog post… Bingo Wings! =-.
Karen says
Hi Jeni,
How many kitties do you live with?
Happy Saturday!
gio says
Judging from the description, I think I’m gonna love Eva. Sounds like it smells lovely and the packaging is too cute! Not too keen on the other two, though.

It’s hard to tell without sniffing them, but I think Rita’s notes sound the best 🙂
I hope Tabs enjoys his new salad bar!
Today we are going to a summer festival and then tonight we have dinner plans with another couple. And tomorrow I have a wedding to go to! Pretty busy weekend! Hope you enjoy the spa today and whatever else is on your plate this weekend!
Karen says
I just *knew* you’d go for the one with the coconut! 🙂
You’re going to have a busy weekend…have fun and eat lots of yummy food at the festival for me.
BTW, did you end up pulling the trigger on the second half of your Sephora haul?
Tiffany says

You have to let me know if you like that Plum lip treatment. I’ve got my eye on that too!
Sarah says
We used to buy cat grass, but my cat at the time ate it all in about a week!
Karen says
I have a feeling something similar is gonna happen if these actually spring up. Well, at least I have an eco-friendly lawn mower, LOL!
Sara says
HAAAAAAA!!! my bf planted cat grass in his garden too! my old gregg lurrrrrrrrrves it, i hope tabs does too 🙂
oh, and i’m totally getting the rita fragrance for my mom whether she likes it or not (it’s her name, and not a very common one around here)
Karen says
Oh, that’s gonna be sweet. You can tell her that this scent has her name written all over it, ha ha ha!
Nina says
Thats so sweet – the catnip and cat grass. I love how kitteehhs look really silly when they are on catnip! 🙂
Im liking Eva and Carmella but I think the Hubs would love Rita on me. He is loco for anything coco! 🙂
Happy Friday AND weekend, girl! 😉
Karen says
Hey Nina!!
How was your Saturday?
Nina says
It was hectic but awesome – the wedding was beautiful and im proud to say my makeup held on thru a HOT church and an outdoor reception! 🙂
marisol says
FYI – these are already at the Benefit stores. At least the Mill Valley one. I bought Eva on Tuesday & it has been my scent all week long. I wonder if these are LE because then I need a backup up Eva & LeeLee.
Enjoy your weekend!
Karen says
Good thing you’re on a temporarily lift from the no buy!!
mill says
yay! i love the benefit fragrances, i dont own any but always see them in sephora and know all their respective scents. i love Sophia, and these all looks equally promising! YAY
Karen says
Let me know what you think of ’em once you give them a sniff.
KarenW says
My mom planted catnip in our garden several years ago. She’d heard that it was a good mild sedative, and my dad was having trouble sleeping. We never did find out if it would cure my dad’s insomnia, because it lasted about a hour. Then we had three very high, very happy cats and a sad little shredded patch of catnip.
Karen says
Ha ha! There’s a recipe for catnip tea on the seed packet…I was thinking about making some. I hope Tabs will be willing to share with me once it sprouts!
Emma says
definitley eva!! i love citrus and fruit scents!!
i got out of school yesterday, so i plan to make the most of summer starting now!
Karen says
Nice! What do you have on your plate for summer?
Hyzenthlay says
I’m a bit late on this one (busy day yesterday – school, then helping a student study for my final, then a quick nap, before heading out to sushi with my former student/TA/friend) . . . I’m curious about all of these scents (like I was about the first Crescent Row fragrances), but each one of them has a base note that I don’t like. I’m really not a base note sort of person, apparently – I don’t like vanilla, musk, or patchouli . . . The presence of those notes in a fragrance almost always makes it a “no go” for me. This weekend is the last weekend of school, so I will be grading lab practicals and final assignments for my classes. Luckily, all of my finals are written (written exam and lab practical for chem, written exam for earth science), so I don’t have to stress about that . . . I’m hoping to spend some time sitting with some watermelon juice and my copy of the Hitchhiker’s Guide on the patio. Last night I took my TA to dinner (she’s been INCREDIBLY helpful, far above and beyond what any HS TA usually does, acting more like a college TA than a HS one, and I have a couple of students this year who want to have her role next year . . . ok, I’m rambling) – and found out that she hasn’t read HHG yet. I walked her right to Borders, picked it up and read her the first bit (the italicized portion). She couldn’t stop laughing, so I got it for her as a graduation present. I’m hoping she loves it; I think she will.
Does anyone else out there love HHG? It’s my go-to book when I need something off-the-wall-silly to get me through whatever else is happening in my life.
Karen says
I’ve seen the movie (which I liked), but haven’t read the book yet! I should probably put that on my summer reading list. 🙂
Tiffany says
I have read the 1st and 2nd books – I love them! They are hilarious 🙂
amy says
I love how the bottles look like maritni bottles. The Garden of Good and Eva smells like something I would were. I will have to check these out when I spot these at Sephora.

Erin says
I was so excited when I saw that these went up on Sephora.com this morning. I can’t wait to smell them for myself! I’m thinking that Garden of Good & Eva / Lookin’ to Rock Rita will come home with me.
Lexi says
OK! I smelled these today at Sephora…and here are my thoughts:
First, let me say that I enjoy clean, fresh, greeny scents (or freesia, or some jasmine). My sniffer is very sensitive (MUST.FIGURE.OUT.WAY.TO.CAPITALIZE.ON.THIS!). Some examples of my fave scents are Ralph Lauren Romance, Gucci EDP II, MAC Turquatic, and I do also like the Laugh With Me Lee Lee.
1) So Hooked on Carmella – this is really pretty sweet in my estimation. Heavy on vanilla. I do smell the Tiare Flower as well, but that is just about all I am picking up. It is a very warm, cozy scent that might work best in fall/winter in my opinion. This is a little too heavy for me for everyday use, but I can see this working on a lot of people who love their vanilla!
2) Lookin’ to Rock Rita – I picked up the sandalwood and hyacinth right away, and then a little violet. I think this is a pretty versatile scent – this would be good for any season and is light enough for daytime. It reminds me of another scent but I can’t quite think of what it is. It is maybe the least unique of the fragrances.
3) Garden of Good and Eva: Jasmine, green violet, freesia, watermelon and pear are what I was able to smell. Loving most of these scents as-is, this is my fave of all of the 6 Benefit fragrances. This is green and fresh with just a hint of fruit. Mon birthday is coming up soon, and I’m thinking of asking for this one! I keep smelling my wrists!
