Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in the bestselling Stephenie Meyer Twilight series, goes on sale today, and I couldn’t resist picking up a few extra copies for my friends.
True, these books aren’t exactly high literature … but I think they’re a lot of fun. I’m a sucker for vampires (ha!) and ill-fated love stories.
From the Amazon.com review of Twilight, the first book in the series…
“As Shakespeare knew, love burns high when thwarted by obstacles. In Twilight, an exquisite fantasy by Stephenie Meyer, readers discover a pair of lovers who are supremely star-crossed. Bella adores beautiful Edward, and he returns her love. But Edward is having a hard time controlling the blood lust she arouses in him, because–he’s a vampire. At any moment, the intensity of their passion could drive him to kill her, and he agonizes over the danger. But, Bella would rather be dead than part from Edward, so she risks her life to stay near him, and the novel burns with the erotic tension of their dangerous and necessarily chaste relationship.”
Last night/early this morning I attended a midnight book release party at the Border’s bookstore down the street. Borders stores all across the country were jam packed with young girls (and a smattering of 20- and 30-somethings like moi), eager to get their hands on a copy of the new book. I snagged mine and got three extras.

I have a thing for pens. At the bookstore last night I found this note scrawled beside some pens at the checkout stand:
“Jacob RULES! He’s the coolest person/werewolf ever!!”
LOLOLZ! Seriously, I laughed for about 5 minutes. Go, Team Jacob!
Not even makeup can make me feel as beautiful as a good book can. I can’t wait to get started on Breaking Dawn. I recently finished The Girl’s Guide to Hunting and Fishing by Melissa Bank and The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger (LOVED THIS!). Working for a literary agency, I have to read a lot of non-fiction books about health, wellness and beauty, but at night, under the covers in bed, I always reach for a novel.
My Worst Beauty Nightmare
As a kid back in the late-80s, when teen queen Debbie Gibson reigned supreme, I was hell bent on getting my hair to look just like hers — a spunky bob with explosive bangs that looked just like a cresting wave.
Unfortunately, I could never get it right. Unlike Debbie’s, my bob was shaped like a triangle, and I spent most of the seventh grade with mushroom hair. Even my bangs were awful. I couldn’t master the curling iron technique required for the lift and curl. I’ll never forget that smell of burning hair… The horror!

I was an english major in college so I love a good book. I’ve been wanting to check these out but I just haven’t had time!!
I have a couple of beauty nightmares. I think the biggest was when I got this new hair removal gel (industrial strength) and I used it without reading the instructions (DON’T RUB OFF). I used it on my brows and surely enough, I rubbed. Half the brow came off and left a red stinging area that looked like I had burned myself badly. Took a couple for it to heal and for the hair to grow back in!! 🙁
And then there was that time in high school where my friends and I decided to experiment with face bleach in our hair. I have daaark brunette hair and we put it on top of my head near the part and left it on too long and I was left with bleached blonde messy patches from the root up. It was awful! I wore hoodies and hats for about 2 months because my mom wouldn’t let me dye it back 😛 That took forever to grow out as well, lol 😛

Sally Hansen No-Heat Wax Hair Removal Strips. I attempted to “wax” my bikini line before our “Senior’s Day Out” my senior year of high school. Apparently, all you were supposed to do is lay it on and rub it. The rubbing was supposed to create the heat to melt the wax. I thought I’d done this long enough, and I ripped it off! Lo and behold, they did not work, and my poor bikini line was left bruised (black, blue and purple marks/dots) for at least a week. Sadly, on senior day, I kept my shorts on and did not get in the pool. The next time, I opted to let a salon specialist do it for me.
*I can’t wait to start this series. My friend raved about it, and I went and bought the first book yesterday to start reading!

I love love love the Twilight series! Just got my copy of Breaking Dawn, can’t wait to start it!
When I was about ten, of course my mom had the final say in how my hair was cut so I had bangs, which I hated! So I cut them all off, right down to the roots. And of course for the next six months or so I then had teeny tiny bangs while they grew out — and of course my school pictures were taken that year when my bangs were about half an inch long. But the worst part (now looking back, I see this was the worst part) was that when my mom asked what happened to my bangs, I told her the hair all broke off while I was swimming in the pool. And at the age of ten, I thought that was a really good cover and that she totally believed me.

I’ve never heard of these books before. Is it sort of like the Anne Rice books? Hhhmmm I may have to peruse the Barnes and Noble tomorrow. I am going there to check out this cookbook on salads and also to pick up the new Allure magazine with Victoria Beckham. I suck at cooking and enjoy salads so I figure I could get a variation of salads if I invest in a book.
Beauty nightmare – well, when I was young and didn’t know any better, I used to wear this Wet & Wild lipstick and the names escapes me but it was like a black/red color. Well, when I don’t tan, I can be a pretty white Mexican girl…lol so using this lippie was a horrible look. I don’t want to say that I looked like a chola but I was pretty close to it. Not that I have anything against cholas… more power to you if you can rock the sharpie like eye brows.
Also, my hair is curly and it was out of control when I was younger. I really didn’t know what do you with it so my mom would take me to the nbeighbor’s house and have her cut my hair. She was not a professional and she basically gave me the same haircut she had – a curly mullet. I cringe when I see those pictures when I was younger. I think I was probably in fifth grade.

I’ve had hair extensions many times but I had the worst one time! I get them glued in and they stay for about a month! This particular time they were literally falling out when I was in public! The color didn’t match, it looked like a mullet! The guy used black colored glue (on my blonde hair) instead of white! ahhh I’d like to forget about that!

Hey karen!
I think writing this can be a relief, it’s time to tell the world what happened to me some years ago…*gasp*
In my early 16’s, my parents took me on vacation on the beach for two weeks. Well, of course, in a few days I already had met a boy I liked. We planned to meet before I left and I was in heaven with my first summer love. But some days before the meeting, a jellyfish attacked me, right in te middle of the chest, between “the girls”. The next morning I had an ENORMOUS and horrible wound, pretty visible. In order to make it dissapear before the meeting, I started to use the treatment cream like 6 times a day. I had to wash my hands very carefully after applying the cream, because my chest wound was infected by all the salt and sand. But it seems I didn’t do it correctly because the day before meeting that guy, another wound had appeared ON MY NOSE. As creepy and horrible than the one on my chest, but right on my nose. I had to go to the meeting with a big, white plaster of cream in both places. I don’t have to say he even asked me for my phone number, LoL.
Wasn’t that creepy? 😀
Right now, I even have two big freckles where the wounds were, reminding me to wash carefully my hands, xD.

Beauty nightmare: I usually have my bangs professionally cut, but this one afternoon I had big plans that night and they needed a trim. My aunt was over, who trims her own bangs, so I ask her to trim mine just enough until I found time to get them done professionally. 15 minutes later I felt she was going too short, but she assured me she wasn’t. I continued to let her “trim.” BIG MISTAKE. By the time I escaped into the bathroom I had no “bangs” left. I had 1/2 inch hairs on my forehead. I cried, A LOT, but felt too bad to say anything to her. It was impossible to do anything with them for months, I couldn’t even pin them back because they were so short. I wore headbands everyday for like 3 months…and even then my ‘bangs’ tended to slip out because of their length (or lack of)

It was 6th grade and it was picture day at school. My classmates and I were waiting in line and one of them had a bottle of spray gel. It was getting passed around a group of us, so I got in a few spritzes before it was my turn to take my picture. My hair was extremely curly at this time, so I really couldn’t do much about it. I also kept applying my Bonne Bell watermelon lip balm while waiting. The pictures from that day are probably my worst school pictures to date. My hair took up half of the frame, being it was so thick and curly (not to mention my rock hard bangs from spraying all that gel in it). And my lips were extremely glossy from overapplying the lip balm. Haha! I guess I thought it wouldn’t turn out that way, but camera flashes don’t lie. 😀

Well, let’s see..I think I’ve had a million but here are two of my most memorable ones:
Whenever I was about 16 my BFF at the time and I decided that we needed to wax our eye brows, so we headed to Sally beauty and bought those at home wax strips you heat up in the microwave. Well, I did her eyebrows for her and they turned out okay. When it was time to do mine, she accidentally waxed off half of my eyebrow. The other eyebrow she made super skinny. It was terrible! I rocked super skinny drawn on “chola” eyebrows for almost an entire year.
My other big beauty mishap also included my BFF and once again, I was about 16. I naturally have light brown hair that I dyed a chocolate brown. It looked great, but I got sick of it after a couple of months and decided that I wanted to go blond. We headed over to Walmart and bought the lightest shade of blond we could find. Well, we ended up dying my hair and it turned NEON orange. It was terrible. Luckily, my mom’s best friend is a hair stylist and she did damage control for me the next day. I ended up having brown hair, even if I didn’t want it 😛
Man, I was an awkward teenager now that I rethink all of these stories! lol.

I adore these books! I got the first one when it first came out as a pre-release copy (my mom got it at a librarian conference) and I have followed every book as it came out. I still need to get mine, so this is a FABULOUS opportunity!
My worst beauty nightmare may have been when I was in high school. Some explanation must precede this tale. I grew up in a home where make-up was non-existent. My mom didn’t wear it and the only thing I knew about it was that lipstick made your lips thick. So, without any knowledge of makeup, I decided that I was going to buy lipbalm. Doesn’t sound so bad right? WRONG. I bought Chapstick, pretty simple, the plain blue tube, and within 2 days, my lips were chapped, swollen, flaking near the edges, and just plain disgusting and itchy to look at. It was AWFUL. Apparently, Chapstick does not like me. I also didn’t seem to learn the lesson, as this happened 3/4 more times over the course of my high school career as I convinced myself that it wasn’t really Chapstick’s fault and tried it again.
I have pictures from those period of my life, and let me just say that it looks AWFUL.

This is my first time to comment! 🙂 I usually check out your blog and I too love the Twilight series (the second one made me cry like a baby. Lol.)
On with the beauty-horror stories! I have 3. One school year, I decided to try waxing (legs, underarms, & arms.) I was lucky enough to have it done professionally, but I wasn’t sure how often I was supposed to get it done so I think I went back a week or two later and had my legs waxed again. Anyways, my legs (just my legs) had a horrible reaction to the wax after the 2nd time I went. I had huge red marks all over my legs for weeks! (Think welts.) The worst part was, I went to a co-ed school that had skirts as uniforms for the girls and of course, a PE uniform with shorts. It was so awful since a few of my girl classmates kept asking me what happened to my legs (for the month or so that it took for my legs to heal!) Plus, when my legs finally started healing, they peeled like crazy and it was gross. I just told everyone that I had an allergic reaction…Lol. Hence, always, ALWAYS, test patch before trying anything.
Another story, during one summer, I went to get highlights. The lady at the salon kind of left the product in my hair for too long, so once she removed the cap and rinsed it out and I looked in the mirror…I was shocked to see blond, red, & copper highlights in my dark, black hair. It looked kinda trashy, plus my hair was damaged for a while after that. I then went to another salon and got a treatment and dyed my hair back to my natural black.
I think my worst beauty mishap though is when I was in 4th grade and decided to have my hair cut short (above my shoulders.) I had always had long, black, silky, Asian hair, but since about that time puberty was beginning to set in, once I cut my hair short, it became horribly frizzy, fluffy, and kinky. 🙁 Since then, my hair has always been on the wavy and sometimes unmanageable side.
I never really have make-up related horror stories though. I consider myself lucky! (Then again, I try not to wear too much make up since less is more.) 😉

I don’t really have any but I have one of my friend:
In the 8th grade, my and a couple of friends had a gathering at one of their houses and decided to play truth and dare. Well, my friend picked dare so we gave “HIM” a make-over. We got a tub of gel for his hair, spiked it, twisted it, pulled it and if the hair was alive, strangled it. After the hair, we put a skin mask on him, light blue-ish hue, fire engine red lipstick, and painted his nails pink. Both hands and nails…and made him wear hear-heels and strut down hallway. The sad part of it all was that we were envious of his feet ’cause they looked nice in the heels. Thinking back, I think we were so mean as kids but you live and you learn. Luckily my friends parents weren’t home or he would’ve been so embarrassed, but of course he would have never let if they were home…I don’t remember if we took a picture or not.
Anyhow, I love the Twilight series and would love to win!

I’ve never read any of this series, guess I’ll check them out! 🙂
My worst beauty nightmare was the last time I ever got my hair cut at Supercuts! I have fine, curly hair, and the stylist cut my bangs short enough that they just rolled up like a little sausage at the top of my forehead! I wore hats for about three weeks until they grew out! After that, I decided the saved money wasn’t worth it and I went to a “real” (if inexpensive) salon!

Ah, can’t believe I’m writing this but here goes:
Back in grade 8 when I was a very awkward kid, I decided to get bang for my hair. At that time, my mom had a baby by C-section, my lil’ bro, so she didn’t have time to take me to the hairdresser. For some reasons, I thought having bang would make me looking uber cool, chic, and young so I really wanted it badly! And I heard from some people that cutting your own bang was easy (yeah right!) So one fine afternoon when nobody noticed and they didn’t because of the baby, I went upstairs with a pair of scissors.
*cue horror movie music here*
I sat in front of the mirror and carefully clipped a part of my hair to the front. Then I just cut a part of my hair away and looked at myself in the mirror. Too long! Snip, snip, snip some more. Couple of times like that and the hair on the front stuck out. I thought, Ok I’m gonna fix this. And I did in the most horrible way ever!
I shaved that part of my hair off and covered it with a headband! In my mind, nobody would notice, right? The headband would cover it, right? Mom would be too busy, right?
Wrong! Mom didn’t notice at all and I ducked my dad so he didn’t notice either. Monday came and I went to school, that was went the drama started. First session went out smoothly, and so did second and third session. But at recess, a friend said “Look at her head, she’s bald!” and I tried my best to convince her otherwise. And it just spread out like crazy. In the end, my teacher called my mom at home and I got a lecture.
It took me about 2, 3 months to grow back my hair. Most of the time I slicked my hair with some hairspray and by New Year it was a bang again, like I wanted. But during the time, lots of teasing involved. That was the last time I cut my own bang. After that mom always watched me whenever I held a pair of scissors.
Bangs can be really lethal when cut by yourself. My lesson is: go to the pros when it comes to bangs, period!

I have tons of hair-related horror stories. Some completely not my fault, others self-induced.
The most funny one to date was when I was about 12. I wanted to get my hair cut (it was like 10cm below my shoulders) and my mum told me to get a decent bit off so that it would be worth the money. Of course that rubbed the wrong way with my teenage self so I got this really short pixie cut, thinking: I’ll show her! Let me just tell you one thing: my round face (it was even worse back then) and a pixie cut were never intended to be mixed.
So I arrived for my first day at high school with horrible hair and half the kids thinking I was a boy. I still half laugh and half cringe when I see pictures of that time.
The thing that is even more disturbing about this whole episode is that that wasn’t the last time I got my hair shorter! When I was 15 I so wanted the hair of Rachael Leigh Cook in Josie and the Pussycats (in the middle). It looked really good in the salon but what I didn’t realise was that I would need time every day to get my hair looking like that, never mind my not having a decent brush to blow-dry my hair. So in the end I went to school with a flat, ewwie version of the hairstyle I adored. lol

I have really really large eyes. Like freaky teased as a child large. And really long lashes. I love Definicils mascara by Lancole and have been using it for years. I broke out of my norm and got Fatale. Got home – whiskey tnago foxtrot there is NO BRUSH. Just wand. Without anything to separate it goes on so gloopy but makes hella long lashes. Since mine are naturally long, it became a recipe for disaster.
I used a pin to separate, poked myself, screamed a bit. I was in a hurry so gave up and went out. All day people stared at me. I was asked like 5 times what mascara I was wearing and told my lashes were the longest they had ever seen. But more people thought I was wearing fakes. At dinner DH told me I looked like a Japanese comic doll girl (his words for manga). I went into the mirror – yep I looked ridiculous. I am too cheap to not use it and am now stuck being a comic book character for a while.
I need to take a picture – it is seriously ridiculous. Does anyone like this mascara??
I seriously dig the Stephanie Meyer books and don’t have a copy of the newest one so it would seriously win to win 🙂
Thanks

When I was in elementary school, I wanted my hair to be straight with no bangs. Now what I didn’t understand at this juncture was that:
A: You had to grow your bangs out to get the no bangs look
B: That my naturally wavy bordering on curly hair was never going to go straight without some serious product, blow-drying and flat ironing (as I do now)
One of these misconceptions is bad enough in the mind of a 4th grade. Two misconceptions such as the above together spelled disaster for my poor hair. It was already slightly odd thanks to an enforced bob that my grandmother made me acquire, which with my round face and glasses made me look like a cousin to an oompa loompa.
So I cut my bangs, because I thought that’s how all these women had no bangs. They chopped them off. And I cut my bangs and hair straight across, thinking that would make my hair straight (I know, naive-but hey, I was nine!). The result: Extremely chopped off bangs, and not having a good hand with the scissors, extremely uneven short bob. It was terrible. I still remember my mother going “Oh Hannah!” in a horrified tone after the fact. All we could do about the situation with the bangs was let them grow out (the rest of the hair was cut evenly).
Thankfully, I’ve learned a lot more since then. After growing out my bangs when I was 12, I’ve had the no bangs look and stuck with it. I love it.

Most of my beauty horror stories involve bad makeup choices throughout different phases in my life. One was a long time ago, when I thought it was cool to wear silvery-purple eyeshadow on a daily basis, and another more recent mishap was when I decided that I liked the look of “defined” brows, and subsequently penciled mine in very dramatically…until I saw pictures of myself and realized how ridiculous I looked.

Karen, remember the time when you came over for our regularly scheduled ride to school (in which we would inevitably see Ed L. in the car next to us) only to see that I had given myself a haircut….and not very good one either. I don’t know what inspired me to chop my hair off. It wasn’t out of some angry rage or anything. I just felt like having a shorter do I guess. Thank God you were there to even out the oh-so uneven hairline in the back. I’m taking myself out of the book race since this involves you but the beauty horror story totally reminded me of that morning.

Mine is silly, only because my experiments with makeup have been few and far between.
When I was about 12, a friend and I were playing with her mother’s makeup and the mom told me I’d used too much blusher. I was embarrassed, so I lied and said I hadn’t used any. My cheeks ARE naturally red, but not that red.
I hope that doesn’t explain too much about me. 🙂
Enjoyed this post. Don’t usually read “beauty” blogs, but yours seems pretty atypical (in a good way!).

I remember when me and a couple of friends decided to prepare ourselves for the luncheon tomorrow (during middle school, a month or two before graduation). My friends had decided to do a set of curls for me and I had told them that my hair doesn’t do well with curls so they put in a mass of products for it to stay. Well, while preparing another strand for the curling iron she placed it on the armrest which I didn’t notice until I moved my arm onto it and it BURNED. I started cursing and screaming, holding my arm, and my friends just laughed at me. LAUGHED! What great friends…but they got me some ice and a fan. After my hair was done, they wanted to put a face mask on so one of my friends started to apply and I couldn’t stop giggling…and she poked me in the eye with the cream. I jumped up and ran straight to sink, dunked my face under the facet while my friend scolded me for moving so much.
After all this happened, we decided to go home. Since I wanted my curls intact for tomorrow and we didn’t have any rollers, we used some bobby pins. Curled the hair, and pinned it on. I looked in the mirror and realized that I looked like one of those crazy ladies walking down the block, cat in arm, screaming and yelling at everything. To help me, one of friends gave her sweater. See, there’s nothing wrong with that but I’m a medium and she’s like an extra-small or something ’cause it was really tight especially with the hood on to cover my hair. It was disturbing looking at myself.
Went to sleep later that night, woke up, took the pins out and saw my hair. I just stared at myself for a good 5 minutes then realized that my hair was like a bird had infested it and made my hair it’s home during the night. I don’t what happened, maybe it was how I slept the night before, but I was not going looking like that. So I dunked my head in a sink full of water and washed all the product out. I felt so guilty when my friend, the who did my hair, asked what happened to it in the morning and I told her the curls didn’t stay. But I still didn’t tell her.
I love the Twilight series so it would be fantastic to win. I haven’t even thought about this story since forever and I haven’t told anyone so you’re lucky. Just kidding. Not about the winning part though. Thanks for this awesome giveaway.

I don’t like to call it dyeing my hair, because I was a redhead as a kid and still have a lot of red tones, but every 3 weeks or so I help my hair reach its true inner beauty with a little help from aisle 5. Anyhow, in high school, I thought it would be fun to dye my hair black with a temporary dye that was supposed to last through 7 washings. I applied the dye the same way I applied the red dye, smearing it all over my head, not worrying about the small drips, peach fuzz at my hairline, or my eyebrows. I got in the shower to rinse out the dye, stepped out and caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror.
Groucho Marx. Everywhere the dye touched was black. My forehead was black. I had black spots all over my shoulders and neck. And best of all, I had these huge black caterpillars marching across my face. So, genius that I am, I decide that maybe it’s just dyed the peach fuzz, and if I SHAVE SOME OFF, it will look ok. Fortunately, I realized this wasn’t working before I shaved too much of my face. Unfortunately, my skin was still dyed black, and I had a half-shaved face. I called my friend, and she recommended nail polish remover. When that failed to take it off, I grabbed a new scrubby sponge from the kitchen cupboard and attempted to scrub the dye off, because at this point, I’m starting to panic.
I did manage to get the dye off, but I also scrubbed off several layers of skin in the process. My raw face scabbed over in this clear shiny layer that prevented me from making any facial expressions. The whole effect only got better when the shaved half of my face started to grow out and the stubble began pushing up on the giant scab, sort of warping it.
It wouldn’t be a true beauty nightmare if prom wasn’t right around the corner. My face healed, but even after 3 color lifting treatments, the black wouldn’t budge, and I went to my junior prom with two toned hair.

The worst beauty experience ever happened to me 8 years ago, when I first started getting interested in make-up. I had heard that the best complimentary and contrast color for brown eyes was blue eyeshadow :O
And I had also read somewhere that you should use the lighter color on the entire lid and the darker one in the crease. Imagine my eyes, forever imprinted on photographs from that family party!

Can we say Mullet! I did start to like my spiked look after a while and kept it that way! LOL. I also did this right in time for school pictures too!! Beauty horror story you say? Oh goodness.
Lets just say I didn’t always have a keen sense of what looked great on me makeup and hair wise.
Example 1: My 8th grade senior pic. Picture caterpillar brows, frizzed up poofy pyramid head hair and dark brown lipstick.
Example 2: In the 8th grade I would also religiously rock the white eyeliner and frosty pink lipstick. Did not look good on my nw20 self
Example 3: All through college I rocked tadpole brows, bright eye makeup (think bright blues and greens)with nothing on the face (no blush, no foundation, nothig) and completely unflattering lip colors.
I just look back at photographic evidence of all my blunders and shudder.
Great idea for a contest btw! Team Eddie 😉

I LOVE the Twilight books! I’d die of happiness to get the new one! I’d have to say most of my beauty horror stories come from my hair experiments. I have dark, naturally curly hair. I’ve always had it long and wore it down. I got bored after so many years of it being the same, so i cut it short my senior year. A student cosmetologist cut and styled it for me, so i was weary of how it would look. When the final cut was down, i actually liked it. But after a few weeks, i started missing my hair so i decided i would let it grow out. Now, the layers are growing out and my hair is a blast from the past. I’m basically walking around with an 80s mullet. And i can never get my hair to look decent now.

My beauty horror story is from back when I was about 10 years old and starting to experiment with makeup. I knew that some people used eye liner, lip pencil and occasionally used pencils on their eyebrows. One day my friend and I were putting on makeup and we decided to ‘fill in’ our eyebrows. Well, needless to say that from that day on I’ve realized that black eye liner is probably best left off your eyebrows. Especially if you have bleach blonde hair and blue eyes. So, I am sure you can all imagine the scary picture. Thank goodness no one took a picture! Thanks for the chance.

I just finished the WHOLE Twilight series thanks so much for the recommendation.
I wouldn’t have known this book existed without your blog since I’m not really in the loop. But then I also saw that there was a trailer for the upcoming movie and I was like damn this book is getting a lot of hype.
Might as well give it a shot, and I loved it… Very very enjoyable read, I just had very minor issues about her writing style. Sometimes a little repetitive, and corny.
Now I’m working on the host, it doesn’t grab me a hard as twilight but I hope I enjoy it too.
If I may also recommend some books. I haven’t read them in years but I loved them when I read them and my copies have broken down since I’ve read them so much.
But please do check out L.J. Smith – Night world series. Stories involving Vampires, Werewolves, Witches and shapeshifters and the humans they fall in love with which goes against the Night World rules.
Most of these books can only be found used on amazon since they are no longer in print individually, but the author is now reprinting them as sets of three
My favorites from the series were Soulmate (the 1st one I read that got me hooked, even though its #6 in the series I didn’t feel confused), Black Dawn, The Chosen, Daughters of Darkness.
I just absolutely love books with those epic kind of romances. Thats probably why I read a fair share of smutty romances. And watch a lot of korean dramas. Which I also recommend you give a try as well.
