I realize that some of the shades in this batch of nude NARS Powermatte Pigments look straight-up bold on me, but I figure they could work as nude lippies for deeper divas.
Which reminds me, that’s one thing I’ve always loved about NARS. They try to cover the color gamut with shades for lighter lovelies AND darker divas, so yay, diversity! 🙂
Today is the day, too. These new $26 Powermatte Pigments are available as of meow (here’s a more in-depth review).
These moisturizing liquid lipsticks last about five hours for me, and they have a thinner consistency than usual for their liquid brethren. They’re almost watery, and yet gloriously easy to control.
Overall, I’m all about the dainty pink nudes, like Get It On and American Woman. I also like Slow Ride, which is a brownish pink, because there’s something kinda ’90s about it.
If you, like my friend Bernadette (hey, Berna!), whom I was just talking to last week, have designs on quitting your nude lip habit and moving into bolder colors, well, you probably wouldn’t wanna get anywhere near the Powermattes, because these nudes are addictive. But girl, I won’t stop you from feeding that nude fire if you have to. ?
Sorry. 🙂 I’m the worst enabler ever.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Ooh, Slow Ride! That’s totally my lips but better. Those terracotta-leaning colors are always great. This is a lovely range of shades. My latest lip love is a natural brand, Alimapure, that makes beautiful sheers That are really nourishing.

I’m crazy for Slow Ride – such a gorgeous shade and it looks so perfect for so many skin tones! Even in the previous posts, some of the shades are just to die for and I’ve heard they’re super lightweight. Thanks for the post and the gorgeous pictures!

Slow Ride and Just What I Needed are my kind of colors!

Gahhhhhhhhhh! I must have Get it On. I’m addicted to that color of pink and the fact that I already have at least two dozen lippies in that shade means nothing.
I also need some of the Nars brights.

Hi Jennifer,
Haha, I’m the same way about corals! 🙂 I hope you like these.
Happy Friday, by the way. What are you up to this weekend?

I have avoided the liquid lipstick trend because I have heard how drying they can be. My lips are uber dry and as such, I stay away from matte lip products. The Bobbi Brown liquid lip color was also hard to apply. I do like some of the more pinky-tone nudes as well as the red shades. If they are not as dry as some other liquid lip products, I may give them a try.
Have a good weekend.

So far Huda Beauty liquid lips have been my jam! And I need another nude liquid lipstick like I need a hole in my head.
Yeah, pretty sure I’ll be test driving a few of these. NARS hasn’t really been on my radar but I’m starting to pay attention again.

Dear Karen,
I know you have tested Nars Velvet Matte lip pecil in Lonely Heart.
How would you compare the Nars Powermatte in Done it Again to the Lonely Heart? It is my signature lipstick and Done it Again seems to be very similar. But how would you compare the formula etc?

Hi M,
It really depends on what you like to feel on your lips. In many ways the Powermattes are just as lightweight as the Velvet Mattes, if not lighter. If you don’t like to feel anything on your lips the Powermattes are the way to go. They do take a bit of a learning curve since you have to get used to using *so little* product though (just a tiny amount is all you need, really). I do think the Velvet Mattes are easier to apply since they’re in a pencil though, which for me is always easier than working with liquid and a wand. I think the Powermattes have more moisture compared to the Velvet Mattes. Hopefully this helps. If you have any additional questions please let me know.
