Are you ready for 14 Days of Ravishing Red? Stay tuned as we explore ravishing red ? lipsticks, lip liners and glosses every day on our way to ? Valentine’s.
I’ve been wearing this classic NARS matte red lipstick for, oh, almost 10 years now, and for the life of me, I still can’t get the name right. I always call it “Dragon Roll” instead of “Dragon Girl.” I guess I REALLY like sushi.
This is a classic red matte to me because it’s right in the middle between cool and warm, and it isn’t too blue or too red. I’m wearing it here with a warm gold cream shadow along my lash lines, but sometimes I wear it with cool silver or platinum cream shadows, and I like it just as much with those colors, too.
‘Twas an Emo Super Bowl
I watched the entire game, except for the last 15 minutes, which was when El Hub made us turn it off because he couldn’t take it anymore. He made me laugh so hard, LOL. He said, “I just love sports so much. I can’t handle it!” (This was right after the Patriots took the lead.)
Fly, Eagles, fly!

Now I will forever think of Sushi when I think about that lipstick!
Karen says
Hey, that’s a good thing!
Ruchita says
Haha, I could see myself calling this Dragon Roll too! I just got into sushi this past year and I’m hooked.
Also, I’m loving these posts on red lipstick. You’ve inspired me to try more bold lip colors and I’m making notes of which brands/colors to try!.
Karen says
Once you fall in love with sushi it’s all over. Do you have a fave roll?
Ruchita says
I’m really bad at remembering the names, but my local grocery store has a pretty decent sushi bar. I’m not sure how traditional it is, but there’s one that’s a California roll, but it has this crunchy topping on it that’s really good.
When we were in L.A., we went to a place called Sugarfish and tried this chef’s tasting menu with a bunch of different options. It was really good, but I didn’t quite feel hip enough to eat there. My chopstick skills are still pretty basic!
Kim says
This is a great color. I always gravitate toward blue-reds but I like this “right in the middle” color. 🙂
Poor El Hub. Not to upset anyone but I despise the Pats and was sure they’d come back to win it. All but one of our crowd was hoping so hard that the Eagles would pull it off. I haven’t watched any football this season but still couldn’t help hoping that anyone but the Pats would win! HAHA! We could definitely hear the hollering from the other room and got all the score updates. I have no problem understanding why El Hub was so emotional. 🙂
Karen says
Yeah, I like the neutral reds like these because you can literally throw them on with everything!
Haha, well you and El Hub are on the same wavelength. He was thrilled at the outcome but just couldn’t take the live action. He’s so funny!
Did you see the Dirty Dancing commercial, by the way?!
Kim says
Oh, I think I’d have been stressed to the max if I’d been watching. HAHA!
I love that commercial. And I definitely relate to Eli’s lack of rhythm. 🙂 I really need to check out all the commercials – this one was the only one that everyone was wow’d over (in our house) so one of my friends pulled it up on her phone. Super cute. It made me miss Peyton, though. 🙂 I think my all time fave was the Cat Herders, many years ago. Do you remember that one?
Nyxx says
I love a good red lip but I don’t think I could do 14 days of red! I love to play with eyeshadow too much to commit to 14 days of red. I love a barely there face with a bright blue red like my fave Ruby Woo.
OAN I was totally rooting for the Eagles too!
Karen says
Hi Nyxxx,
I love eyeshadow too but ya know… Valentine’s Day and all. Plus I figure it’s an excuse to see what looks I can pair with all the red! (I found out recently that pink shadow can work with red lips, who knew?).
Do you have a fave eyeshadow formula/brand?
Yay, Eagles!
Sakura says
Hi Karen,
Sending love from Philly! Glad that you were rooting for us! Everyone is so happy here! We haven’t won since 1960 and I guess that doesn’t count because everyone on the news is saying it’s our first win. E-A-G-L-E-S! Eagles!
Luv,
Sakura
Karen says
Hi Sakura,
You don’t even know how happy we were here at Casa MBB. I swear my husband might’ve had tears in his eyes!!!
Will there be a big celebratory parade? I hope if there is that you can go!
Sakura says
Yes, Karen the parade is Thursday and will cross the city. It will be insane! I will go even if I have to take a day off! (Probably that will be a good idea.)
Karen says
You should totally go! These things don’t happen every day so why not?!
Michelle says
This is my go-to, never fail red lippie! I love it and always have a backup.
xxooxx
Karen says
Hi Michelle,
NARS makes some amazing reds and to me this is easily in the top 3! LOVE IT! Do you usually wear it with a specific eye shadow?
Michelle says
Hi love:
I usually downplay the eye shadow; a honey brown or light grey with a nice coordinating eye pencil. I don’t want a heavy eye to take away from a lovely red lip.
xxooxx
Nina says
Oh boy! I see a red lippie on you, love it, go try it myself and I look like Cruwella sp? WTHeck? I’m sad because I’ve wanted to rock a red lippie all my life. Nothing works! So Tabs mommy I’ll have to just follow you and wish ?
Tatiana says
That’s a great red!
Didn’t watch one second of the game. Dear Husband is away and I got quite enough cheering and commentary of the game over the fence from the neighbors.
But even though Mr. Brady is a hometown boy, I’m still very happy the Eagles won.
