What Are You Wearing on Your Nails?

November 2nd, 2010 by Karen 66 Comments

I’ve been ignoring my paws lately and think I’ll treat them to Deborah Lippmann’s creamy grayish Waking Up in Vegas ($16).

What are you wearing on your nails?

Right now it’s Bronze Green by Mavala (it’s getting colder and colder up here, so I don’t feel for brights and pastels lately). I really wish we had Deborah Lipmann here though, I’ve been wanting to try their glitters for ages!

Sadly, I’m wearing the faintest specs of L’Oreal I Pink I’m in Love. And, yes, it’s the same super sheer shade that I originally put on in mid-October. I can see the faint glimmer if I turn my nails just right. It’s actually pretty embarrassing that I’ve been so lax!

It flashes from green with bluer edges to teal. The color is fairly dark but lightened by the green microglitter. Application is great too 🙂

Orly “Witch’s Blue”! It’s a dark shimmery cobalt blue. I wish it was a little bit more on the navy side, but it’s pretty regardless. It’s a little difficult to manage (a wee bit too thick) and for some totally weird reason when I put a top coat on (and I wait 30 minutes between layers!) the polish gets gooey again and I have to e-x-t-r-a careful not to gouge it!

Speaking of nail polish– I’m looking for a new pastel pink, probably with cool tones in it. I’ve got Essie “Need a Vacation”, but it’s streaky and chips really easily (even with a base coat and two top coats!). Anybody have a suggestion??

Toes – still the orange halloween pedi I put on Saturday. OPI Flit-a-Bit. Need to change this one, but haven’t found a way yet to remove toe polish without messing up the mani, so I’ll wait until I’m sick of the Pasha and then change both.

I’m not wearing anything — my nails are stubby, and the cold weather we’ve been having lately (plus the advent of indoor heating season) has turned my hands into dry paws, bad enough that the nails are peeling and breaking. Hopefully hand/cuticle cream will help because there are more than 10 untried polishes in my stash and I’m dying to use them.
