What Are You Wearing On Your Nails?

Published in: Drugstore Beauty Finds, Just For Fun, Nails, Sally Hansen

I’m wearing the limited edition Sally Hanson Rock of Ages Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips in Fingerlace Gloves ($9.99; check drugstores for availability), which strutted on to counters earlier in the summer with seven other patterns inspired by the movie Rock of Ages.

Salon Effects are pre-cut, printed nail stickers that you apply to clean nails for an instant manicure with a glossy finish. To remove ’em, just use regular old nail polish remover and a cotton ball or pad.

It was pretty easy and only took about a half hour to do both hands. The stickers do seem to run big, so if you have small hands like I do, you may need to trim down a couple of the strips to fit your nails.

The box says the mani can last up to 10 days. Hmm! It’s only been two, and I already have a few chips. I’m pretty hard on my hands, though. It might be different if you aren’t typing or opening cans of gravy all day. πŸ™‚

What about you? What are you wearing on your nails?

    That’s cute Karen!
I’m wearing French Roast from Revlon’s Longwear line. I’ve had it on for a week and it’s done pretty well but I’m tried of looking at it :P. I’ve only tried Bonsai and French Roast and b/w the two, Bonsai has a better application.

  2. Love the lace print! I’ve always wanted to try that out.

I had those sally Hansen strips before with a hearts design and yes, it was pretty easy to apply and it looked really pretty but it didn’t last long at all. I’d say it’s a good solution for some special occasion, not an every day splurge. Did you apply a top coat over the strips? I did and I think it was a mistake.

    • Agata says:

Oh, and I am wearing Sephora Pantone Universe nail polish right now in Parachute Purple. It looked beautiful in the bottle-like a purple/ turquoise duochrome, unfortunately it doesn’t look like that on my nails. It’s nice purple color, just not really duo chromatic.

  5. Chelsea says:

My nails are almost always bare. I feel like they look funny with polish, and I’m also lazy :p I need to cut and file them today though, they’re getting quite long.

  6. Vicki says:

I’m wearing a dusky purple by Champneys. I find their colours last longer than many other brands I’ve tried.

  7. Chris25 says:

I painted my nails not an hour before reading this post. πŸ™‚ I am wearing China Glaze Coconut Kiss. No matter how many purple polishes I acquire, I always come back to this classic beauty.

  8. Jessica H says:

Pedi of Zoya Jules topped with OPI Spark de Triomphe. Mani of Deborah Lippmann Believe also topped with Spark de Triomphe. Love the glitter, although not looking forward to the eventual removal:-(

PS. Love the blog! Also love Tabs, I show his photos to my grey tabby Mercury Gremlin:-)

  9. Beverly Johnson says:

I am wearing Deutsch You Want Me Baby? from the Germany Collection by OPI….on stiletto nails!!!

  10. TrippyPixie says:

Must try this one out, it looks so cute! I tried the houndstooth one, and I loved it. It stayed on my nails for two weeks. The only reason why I had to remove it was because my nails started growing out. As for chipping, I only had a chip or two, but that’s because I was an idiot and got caught on something.

(On another note, I really like those bracelets you’re holding. I love studs.)

  11. Heidi says:

Sand Dollar from ULTA Professional. It’s a pale shimmery gray.

That’s beautiful! I haven’t tried the Sally Hansen pre cut ones yet, but this design is too pretty to pass up

  16. Meredith says:

German-icure from the OPI Germany collection. Beautiful red brown and a perfect fall color. Just wish we actually had fall here in south Texas πŸ™

  17. Nicole says:

I’m wearing Butter London’s Dodgy Barnett. Might paint it on my toes this weekend too!

  18. BeckBeck says:

I’ve got a grey-beige Nails Inc from their fall set on – the stickers are so teensy I couldn’t clearly read the name. It’s coming off later, though, as it’s a total wreck; I’ve broken several nails in the last week.

I’m currently wearing Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure in “Dive Deeper” – a light blue metallic color. I’ve been a little obsessed with nail art lately, so I just might try this stickers out…

Gorg! Yeah, those stickers never last too long on me, but then again, polish doesn’t either..

Last night I got a massive shipment of polishes in including a whole bunch of A England ones (gorg!). Of course, instead of one of those beauties, I decided on Zoya Toni + China Glaze Make a Spectacle on top of a few. Beautiful! But I still cannot wait to pull out a A England polish.

  23. Tina says:

I’m not wearing any color at the moment because I’ve been wearing Essie Lilacism for litterally two months lol. I like how detailed the lace patterns are on your nails though not sure how it’s inspired by Rock of Ages. πŸ˜€

  24. penelope says:

My nails have been naked for the past couple of weeks. I’ve been eager to try some new fall colors like deep plums and burgundy. They are amazing for fall!

I’m so weary about those nail decals, but the lace ones are gawgeous. I actually just redid my nails last night! I’m wearing Nails Inc. in Porchester Square with a thin layer of Essie’s Set in Stones glitter on top. I thought I hated glitter until I tried a friends bottle and now am in love with the look of it over a light color. Removing it has been such a pain though. Not crazy about that at all.

Love the new layout of the site by the way! The header might be a smidgen too big though.

  28. Hyzenthlay says:

Just painted my nails last night, though it may come off tonight. Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Peachy Keen with China Glaze Snow Globe from the base to the middle of the nail. I had a couple of students compliment them, since they look fairly nude, but have just a bit of glitter. But, I didn’t do a good job with my cuticles, so I may remove it all and try something different πŸ™‚

  29. Katherine G says:

My fingernails are always bare because I am very hard on them – lots of handwashing where I work, and I am constantly doing workouts where my hands don’t look pretty at all (all callused and with peeling skin). I always paint my toes because I have the typical distance runner’s feet that have brittle toenails. Just did them today and I am wearing Sally Hansen Complete Manicure in Hidden Treasure with a Crackle coat in a hot pink. Base is Sally Hansen Miracle Cure, and Topcoat is Sally Hansen Anti-Chip 60 Second Dry. Debating on which color to wear for the cruise on my toes – Nars Orgasm (a pretty neutral) or this gorgeous bright yellow (my fave color) by Maybelline New York?

  30. I’m wearing Essie Fear or desire. I just went to the beach on the weekend and it goes pretty well with my tan.

  31. Your nails look gorgeous! I never have luck with the strips.

I’m wearing the light pink shade my Sensatinail. Its an at home Gel kit!
