Good morning and happy Friday, friend. How about we start this particular Friday the 13th with something historically lucky and wonderful? Like a rainbow. 🙂
The six new 3-free polishes (formulated without toluene, formaldehyde and DBP) in the limited edition Thakoon for NARS Nail Collection ($18 each) represent the line’s first collaboration with a fashion designer in the nail category. The bright new shades, all inspired by spices, arrive online at narscosmetics.com May 1.
In these pics I’m wearing one coat of azalea pink Anardana, mandarin red Lal Mirchi and purple orchid Ratin Jot; two coats of cyan Koliary; and three coats of the bright yellow Amchoor and powder blue Kutki.
Such bright and pretty colors… From the look of these swatches and my initial reactions, I’d say NARS hit this one out of the park.
Let me know what you think!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Guess what day it is. 🙂
Trisha says
Oh man, I would so do some sort of awesome combination with the two blues, Kutki and Koliary. Like maybe do the lighter blue, and then the darker blue as a French tip. Oh, the possibilities!
Karen says
That would look super cute, Trisha! Happy, happy Friday!
Jessica says
Perfect summer colors! Happy Friday, Karen!
Karen says
Happy Friday to you, Jessica. 🙂 Got any exciting plans?
Jessica says
We’re having friends over for dinner on Saturday, exciting!
Suzanne says
I love these! Have a great weekend Karen!
Karen says
Thanks, Suzanne! What are you plans for the weekend?
Teri says
Oh, such pretty colours! I especially love the pink ones and the orange shades, so hot!
Karen says
Hi Teri,
Those would make a cute combo. How about the orange on the toes and the pink on the fingers?
MakeUpNaive says
Hi guys this is off topic but i want you all to be aware that their is a trend now that asks you to give/verify your home address to a FedEx link, it is actually a very strong Trojan virus that will erase ALL your files! So heads up, be vigilant!
Tekoa says
I love looking at the nail polishes (and Thakoon) but they remind me of possible dupes I already own. To list…
Anardana= maybe China Glaze Fuchsia Fanatic
Lal Mirchi= cousin of OPI Roll in the Hauge
Amchoor= RBL Yellow Fever or China Glaze Happy Go Lucky
Kutki= brighter China Glaze Kinetic Candy
Koliary=OPI What’s with the Cattitude?
Ratin Jot= OPI Dim Sum Plum
Note: I’m saying they remind me of each other from memory and checking photos. I haven’t done swatch tests. Dispite the possible close relations I plan on getting Kutki (harder to find a similar stash colour) and Lal Mirchi (if I can find it. Pepper hot yeah!)
Shannon says
Awesome!! They’re so vibrant and beautiful… like primary colors stepped up a notch!
Nina says
TGIF — and finally! 🙂
Arianne says
NARS is KILLING it this summer. Beautiful shades. I’d wear Anardana, Lal Mirchi and Amchoor in a heartbeat!
gio says
They’re so beautiful and summery! Love them all!
Katrina says
Both those Blues are amazing! How do they last on?
Kellie says
Ahhhh! This collection is killing me it has been featured on most of the blogs that I read over the past few days! It is absolutely GORGEOUS!
Are the colors unique to my collection?….No.
Do I still want all of them?…You bet!
I am a nail polish junkie, I can’t help it!
Too bad the price point is a little high for me to justify getting these.
Chris25 says
I was thinking the same thing! All these colors don’t look skippable to me. Oh my greedy old self…. 😛
Sunny @ Mostly Sunny says
Anardana has to be my favorite! Again, your ability to pull blue nail polishes off astonishes me! I wish I could wear Kutki too. It looks like fun!
Diana says
All of the colors are super gorgeous, but I want Amchor, Kutki, and Koliary the most.
Stèphanie says
I love the polishes! The colors look good in those square bottles. Would love to get me some of the polishes.. but then again, I already own all those colors, and I think every person who loves nail polish too.
Gotham Polish says
These are SO pigmented and perfect for the summer! Lal Mirchi is definitely right in line with Pantone’s Color of the Year 🙂
Jane says
Such pretty polishes . . . and I LOVE the pic of Tabs. Don’t have to tell him what day it is . . LOL.
Jen says
Argh. I swear, I’m lemming twenty different new nail polish colors from 4 different brands. Spring colors are SO PRETTY!
Louise says
Wow! These look gorgeous!
I’m especially loving Anardana! I can’t believe that is only one coat 😮
Ananya says
I love the colours and the names!
I am actually Indian and all of the names are names of spices in Hindi
Lal Mirchi actually means red chilly powder and Amchur means dried mango powder, I don’t know the meaning of all the other spices though!
Tina B says
Oh come ON with the insanely pretty nail color!!
corallista says
What fun colors! The first three are Indian(hindi) names of spices of that color!
Anardana = pomegranate seeds
Lal Mirch = red chilli
Amchoor = dried mango powder
Swatch And Learn says
These colours are really fun and bright. It would be cool to do a skittle manicure with some of them.
Hope you’re enjoying your weekend so far, Karen! 🙂
Manu says
I adore Thakoon’s designs!! hahaha and I love the Indian spice = names bit 🙂 (also cos I’m Indian)
Sara says
holy cow, i love them all. and that graphic of tabs is my favorite one you’ve made!
tas says
wow, when they say Spicy New Limited Edition, they literally meant Spices. i love how the names are all of south asian spices! anardana being dried pomegranate seeds, lal mirchi being red chili pepper, amchoor being a powder made from dried unripe mangoes, kutki is hard to explain, its a type of fruit & raw spices are made from it, ratin jot/ratanjot is alkanet root powder. the colors don’t completely match the name but in a way they do.
