OK, yeah…I admit it. It took me a little while to get on board with Paul & Joe Nail Polish in Bitter Lime ($16).
I don’t know why, but it reminds me of funky ’70s kitchen decor. I vaguely recall our fridge and countertops at home being this color back in the day.
My gut said, “Ew…” when I applied Bitter Lime for the first time, but I kept it on for the sake of experimentation. Within a few hours, my opinion if it started to change for the better. I like how it looks in different light, like in the natural light through the window in my office, it’s like a highlighter yellow, but under the “warm white” bulbs in the bathroom, it’s more of a lime green.
I might be too easily amused (not might — am).
And I love the shiny finish. (*makes grabby hands*) In these pics I’m wearing two coats without a base or top coat.
The formula’s also incredibly sturdy, like OPI-caliber sturdy. When I applied it last week with just two coats and nothing else to help it along, it lasted me three or four days before I saw any chipping at all, and I’m full-time typist tough on my nails. If I were to wear it with a base and top coat, I’m sure it would lasts me six or seven days at least, which would be pretty darned good for me.
Bitter Lime is a limited edition $16 lacquer in the new Paul & Joe Summer Collection, and it’s available now online and at Paul & Joe counters.

P.S. How’s it going today, my friend? On a scale of 1-10, how’s your Thursday been so far? I’d say mine’s been about a 7.5, which rounds up to 8. 🙂

LMAO I can’t believe that’s what this color reminds you of. That is too funny! I have a Marc Jacobs polish similar to this and I’m so obsessed with it. I want to wear it like ALL the time. Now I’m gonna be thinking of 70s kitchen decor every time I wear it LOL

It gets worse! We had appliances that were baby poo green. LOL!

I think this looks awesome on you! And I love that you paired it with blue, which is one of my favorite “happy” color combos. Just looking at it makes me cheerful. 🙂 I’d say today is probably right around an 8 as well. Unless there is some kind of bad news, that’s generally where my days tend to hover. Well, bad news or rainy/miserable weather and, luckily, today is beautiful.

Thanks Kim! Please send me some sunshine. It’s overcast here today!

I think you sent me some overcast, instead. We need to work on our East to West delivery! 🙂

Yellow nail polish rocks! I really love this shade, Karen. I personally don’t link yellow to anything ugly or tacky, lol.

You’re probably too young to remember ’70s kitchens, LOL! It was this weird shade of greenish yellow that looked like bodily fluid. Gross but true! We also had appliances that were baby poo green.

I usually don’t like yellow polish, but I’ve seen more and more yellow polish that I do like, like this one. I especially like it with blue & white like your cute sundress!
Karen says
Hey Allison,
Yeah, yellow can be tricky. I’m very particular about which yellows I wear. Have you ever worn it on your toes? It’s SO fun!
Pavithra says
Yellow is my favorite color, and this Nail Polish looks so spring-y and nice!
Every time I see Paul & Joe mentioned anywhere, I can’t help but recall your April Fool’s post that I totally fell for! 😀
Karen says
Haha! I wish that Tabs compact was real!
Beti says
Love the shade and the combo with that clutch it’s just perfection 🙂 I also don’t go for yellow shades but for summer I try to experiment so I might give this a try.
Karen says
You should! Yellow is such a happy color; it’s especially pretty on toes.

Looks super cute against the blue stripes! I love that yellow-blue combo, so summery. Karen, we also had this yellow in our house in the 70s. In floral wallpaper, as I recall. And the green. My mom called it “avocado green.” Haha! That’s a bit more dignified. But I know exactly the hue you mean!!

Love this color!
