Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day, and that means two things: 1) that today is St. Patrick’s Day Eve, and 2) that I get to be Irish tomorrow, thanks to El Hub and the Irish Proximity Effect. He says that because he’s one quarter Irish, I get to be part Irish by proximity for 24 hours.
And I plan to put that time to good use. 🙂
For some folks, St. Patty’s Day means beer, and lots of it. Me? I use my Irish By Association card as a free pass to eat as much fried food as I can.
Like fish and chips.
Oh, I love fish and chips… The precious little basket they come in, dousing them with vinegar and salt, and that first crunchy bite of melt-in-your-mouth batter and flaky fish…
I’m sorry, where was I?
Oh, yeah! St. Patrick’s Day. Almost as much as the food, I also like to see folks getting green in the spirit of the day (please leave me a link to your look!), and I usually try to add a little something green to my beauty routine. This year, it’s with a multi-colored manicure in different shades of green.
I actually didn’t start out planning to do something with more than one shade, but when I sat down with a few polishes, thinking I’d pick one right then, I couldn’t decide.
So I used all three — Dolce & Gabbana’s Mint ($20), Sonia Kashuk’s Making Waves ($9.99) and China Glaze Ray-Diant ($8).
I’ve been seeing a lot of multi-colored manicures lately, and I’ve been doing quite a few myself. Some gals like to use a different color on every nail, but right now I’m thinking that my sweet spot is around three, so I repeat/mix and match a couple of the shades.
No real reason why… I think it’s just the right amount of color chaos for me.
Here, I started by painting my nails with Milani’s new Base Coat Nail Treatment ($3.99), and when it dried, I applied two layers of the lighter Dolce & Gabbana Mint shade to my thumb, pinky and pointer. Then, I painted the other fingers with the brighter Sonia Kashuk Making Waves.
To give some texture and St. Patrick’s Day bling to the overall look, I applied a layer of glittery China Glaze Ray-Diant on top of one of the already painted nails.
Then I wrapped it all up with a layer of Lippman Collection Addicted to Speed Quick-Dry Top Coat ($20) to make everything shine a little brighter and last a little longer.
What do ya think? Are you doing anything special with your St. Patrick’s Day ensemble tomorrow?
When I close my eyes, I can see my green nails reaching into a basket of fish and chips…
Oops! — I just drooled a little bit.

Super cute! I’ve had bare nails for the past week or so… maybe I should copy you and dig out some of my (many) greens. Just off the top of my head I’ve got Butter London Dosh, Essie Sew Psyched and Pretty Edgy. And Turquoise and Caicos. And Go Overboard. Oh, and OPI’s Who the Shrek Are You? Hmm… maybe I own a few too many green polishes.

My boyfriend’s irish, my friends are irish, my boyfriends irish cousins are over here in UK too.
Plan for Paddys day today is to drink all day and watch the Six Nations Rugby. I’m English so if England lose against Ireland I’ll never hear the end of it! X

This is kinda like what I did last 4th of July, I went red, blue, and a very bright silver and just alternated nails.
I was going to do a green manicure, but then I picked up a nice pewter shade on Wednesday and painted my nails that instead. 🙂
Wearing a green shirt today, though!
