I’m sitting here on the living room floor watching The Deep End on IFC and trying to decide on a polish to wear for my Friday night manicure. I’d like it to be something from China Glaze’s new Retro Diva collection.
Out next month, the collection features 12 groovy polishes (about $5/bottle) in shades of purple, burgundy, orange, red and taupe. China Glaze says the colors were inspired by platform shoes, hiphuggers and the rockin’ disco 1970s.

China Glaze Vintage Vixen
When I think ’70s colors, I think pea green drapes and mustard yellow shag carpeting, but whatev. 🙂
Cords
Short and Sassy
Let’s Groove
Stella
Skate Night
Far Out
Stroll
Thunderbird
Drive In
Street Racing
Free Love
Cruisin
What do you think? I’m kinda leaning towards Free Love for fingers and Cords for toes…
Hope you’re having a nice night. I think it’s time for ice cream! 🙂

Gorgeous colors! I especially love Far Out- it’s like one my mom had back in the day, all bronzey and peachy. Have fun with your manicure!
Karen says
Hi Ellie Bean,
Thank you! I hope you’re having a nice weekend so far!
connie says
these look fantastic – i can’t wait! i’m especially loving cruisin with a stripe of thunderbird. i wonder what they’d look like together?
Karen says
Hi Connie,
That sounds like it would be a fun pedi!
Roxanne says
I’ve been in search of gorgeous red nail polish for as long as I can remember and I think I just fell in love with Thunderbird… It’s breathtaking!
Karen says
Hi Roxanne,
I think Thunderbird might be one of my faves, too. I think China Glaze really did a great job with this release… so many pretty reds and purples to choose from.
Hafsa says
ooh fall, how I miss thee 🙂 I really like Thunderbird, Stroll, and Short and Sassy. Thanks for the post hope the manicure comes out nice!
Karen says
Hi Hafsa,
Are you a fall makeup kinda girl? 🙂
Luv J says
Wow these colors scream Fall!
Karen says
Hi Luv J,
I know, right? I don’t know if I’m quite ready yet for the season. I’d be happy for it to stay summer forever.
Hope you’re having a very nice Saturday!
Karen B says
Looks great. I think cruisin would be pretty sweet for summer beaches also 🙂
Karen says
Hi Karen B.,
Oh, good call! Now if only the beaches here were warm enough to actually visit! 🙂
How’s your weekend going?
Catherine says
Wow! Thunderbird and Drive in look gorgeous too! Hmmmmmm, I think I’d have to go with Cruisin’ for fingers and Free Love or Drive in for toes. They’re such pretty brights. The darker fall colors are total love too though. I am definitely getting Short & Sassy and Stella. 😀
.-= Catherine’s last blog post… MAIL! – Thank you Izumi, Javy, Audrie & Katelyn!! 😀 😀 😀 =-.
Karen says
Hi Catherine,
It looks like Free Love is one of the crowd faves. 🙂
Sonja says
Stroll & Stella for me. And I agree with whoever said that these colors scream fall!!
I completely get you on being obsessed with Greek mythology, mine was that big that I studied actually Ancient Greek for 4 years!!! Not the easiest language ever.:)
Sonja says
Hahah supposed to share the love for Greek mythology in the Illamasqua post…argh, apologies, it’s way to early in the morning for my brain to work!
Karen says
Hi Sonja,
No worries. 🙂 It takes me to awhile to get going in the morning, too.
I devoured the Greek myths like they were food. There was family in my town where all of the kids were named after people in Greek mythology, and I remember being really envious, LOL!
What was the hardest thing about studying the Ancient Greek language?
Shirleen says
OMG! They are all so gorgeous! I especially love Short & Sassy, Skate Night and Thunderbird. 🙂

Karen says
Hi Shirleen,
I like these colors, too! 🙂
Marina says
Thunderbird, Let’s Groove and Short and Sassy are the best and Free Love is also a cool vibrant color!

Karen says
Hi Marina,
Thanks for throwing in your two cents. 🙂
Marmar says
Street racin is cool, cool, cool! How are they with chipping though? I live in an area where the weather is so dry that it literally puts cracks in my polish after a couple days if I don’t triple coat it ;___;
.-= Marmar’s last blog post… This needs to be said. =-.
Karen says
Hi Marmar,
I find with a good base coat China Glaze stands up *really* well in terms of chipping. And I totally abuse my nails, so that’s saying something.
redhead says
Street Racing for fingers and Stella or Let’s Groove (depending on whether you want medium or dark purple nails) for toes!
Karen says
Hi Redhead,
Thanks for weighing in!
Erin says
I like these colors now that I see your swatches! I saw other swatches and I wasn’t too excited about them. But now I may need a few of these!
Karen says
Hi Erin,
I like these colors, too. I am glad they have a lot of burgundies and purples to choose from, because they are some of my favorite fall shades.
How’s your Saturday going?
Rachel says
I like Let’s Groove and Cords a lot, as well as Stella.
Sonja says
Hey Karen!
The hardest thing was definitely the grammar, the past tenses!!
Wow, how cool, to be named after a character from mythology! My Greek professor always used to say that my name is some Nordic version of ‘sofia’, ‘wisdom’ in Greek, so at least that!
ritadebora says
I just loooove “Street Racing”.
Lydia says
Far out is my favorite!
Solé says
I love ALL these colors! I think I like Thunderbird and Drive In the best. Most of these shades make me want to skip right over summer (except the bottom four) and dive into fall but I haven’t really gotten into the summer spirit yet since it’s been so gloomy all month. Then again, that probably means it’ll be hot into November and I won’t be wearing these colors until Christmas. Gotta love that global warming.
wendy says
Im not sure about this collection, I like creme polishes the most.
Kitty says
Every single one of these is yummy!
Karen says
Hi Kitty,
I know, right? Do you have a favorite?
Karen B says
It’s been pretty good so far. I had a reunion with my best friends from high school on saturday afternoon and then concert/ball with my other friends in the evening. It was a lot of fun. Sprained my ankle but yeah, part ofthte game I guess 😉
Karen says
Hi Karen B.,
Ouch! I hope you are okay. A sprained ankle is never fun… did you sprain it at the ball? That must’ve been one hellavu dance!
Karen B says
Yeah at the ball. there was a hole in the floor at the side and I clumsily put all my weight there.
It’s not too bad but it did hurt a lot yesterday.
Lehea says
Yowzah! That’s a collection I need to get my hands on, no pun intended. =)
LiNDSEY ♥ says
This collection is to DIE for. I’m so completely in love with it.
Alejandra says
