If I don’t get my hands on some Skittles soon, I just might devour my nails, LOL! That’s because they look delicious all painted in fruit candy colors, courtesy of China Glaze Kicks.
Each of these six pink, orange and red nail polishes ($3 each; full collection contains 12 shades) looks good enough to eat — just like the first batch of colors did.
For a look at the 2010 fall collection…
China Glaze Vintage Vixen
The 12-piece collection was inspired by brightly colored tennis shoes, and being a footwear enthusiast (aka I have a shoe obsession, but it isn’t pervy, I swear), I lurve this collection somethin’ fierce!
I like these particular shades a lot, but I think I prefer the six from my first post. I think those blues and greens were a little more original than these.
The two pink shades, B-Girlz and Laced Up, appear almost identical, with B-Girlz being slightly darker and more shimmery hot pink, while Laced Up has more of a creamy, rosy pink thing going on.
And Oh How Street It Is and Style Wars, the two creamy reddish orange shades, could almost be twins, but I think Oh How Street It Is applies with just a touch more red.
Out of these six shades, the two that really pop for me are Sneaker Head (a creamy orangish magenta) and Breakin’ (a shimmery medium orange). Both remind me of this pair of orange and red strappy Aerosoles high-heel sandals I rocked back in the summer of 2002.
I wish I had a picture because I loved those shoes… I ended up donating them to Goodwill because they no longer fit me well (I guess my feet grew, ha!).
Nowadays I wear a size seven shoe, but when I bought those sandals I was about 15 pounds lighter and able to squeeze into a six and a half. Everything changed when I discovered Haagen Daaz Dulce De Leche ice cream. Hello, chubby feet and stretchy pants!
Anyway, I figured the shoes would be better off giving joy to some other woman than they would have been sitting in my closest, sigh.
Question: When your dress size changes, does your shoe size change, too? Or am I the only one that happens to…
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Hiya Karen!
Those colours are so bright, I’m loving it. I’m rocking a chartreuse nail myself.
Yes, a couple years back I lost about 50 lbs and my shoe size went down by 1. Then I gained half of it back and my shoe size went up tad. Ugh. I am in that limbo stage of being an 8-8 1/2. Btw, 6 1/2?? Such tiny feet! =). Making me feel like gigantor over here, haha.
Karen says
Hi Mishel,
It’s so hard to keep it off, isn’t it? What did you do to lose all that weight? Did you start exercising?
I find it weird and fascinating that feet also change size, too! Trippy!
Sarah says
i neeeeed sneaker head! ahhh!
Karen says
Hi Sarah,
Yah you do! 😉

it is a pain in the ASS to keep it off. my body just naturally wants to be a size 12, it’s up to me to make that a healthy size 12 or unhealthy size 12. i’ve been choosing healthy.
yes, i work out about 4 times a week, for an hour. i watch what i eat, but i do have a dr. pepper or chocolate every once in awhile (can’t take that away from me!) haha.
Karen says
Hi Mishel,
I think that’s great. I want to be healthier… I’ve been slacking for the past few months, but previous to that I was really good about watching what I ate and exercising. Slowly but surely I’m getting back on track. It’s hard because I got so used to eating crap and now I crave it (ugh).
What kind of workouts do you do?
Redhead says
Since I’m CONSIDERABLY smaller than the rest of you giants 😉 (four foot seven!) I only wear a size four/five shoe depending on the brand.
Karen says
Hi Redhead,
I tower over you by a whopping six inches!
High heels are my friend…
YadiQ says
Hell yeah
I used to be a size 8.5 these days I mostly buy 9. Could my feet really have gotten fatter – yes I am with you – let’s go back 8 years ago when I was still a size 6 I was an 8.5 many more pounds fastforwarding to today size 9 coincidence I think not LOL
I agree kicks part 1 was way more fab!!!
Mmm I want skittles now but will have to pass just did an hour of vinyasa yoga – I have been forcing myself to do this to calm my stress – helps with my teeth grinding cause I carry less tension
Karen says
Hi Yadi,
We are on the same wavelength! I’m about to pop in a yoga DVD! 🙂
How was your class? Did you get your sweat on?
Mishel says
I love it when you write me back! haha
Every time I go, I do 20-30 min of cardio, abs (crunches using weights and obliques using weights). I also lift weights for my arms and legs, but I switch that up everyday. I certainly have to push myself but I always feel so good when I’m done =). I may not have lost any more weight but my body has certainly taken a new shape. How are your dance classes at the gym going? I wish my gym offered those!
Karen says
Hi Mishel,
Gah, I have no motivation to work on my abs. My core sucks! I would rather run four miles than do sit ups, for reals. I know I should start though, so I just downloaded a few ab workouts from the Women’s Health website to put onto my iPod. I hope they are good!
I haven’t been to dance class in a few weeks. I think a lot of people are trying to save $ and cut back, because not many people have show up to the classes and it always gets cancelled, boo. 🙁
Anyway, I’m off to do a yoga DVD. Got any exciting plans for tonight?
Jacks says
Hey Karen,
Yeah I agree, my shoe size does seem to fluctuate with my dress size…it’s annoying when I can’t wear my favourite strappy heels because my feet look puffy! Grr…
On another note, thank you for also reviewing this China Glaze collection! I LOVE Laced Up; I’ve been looking for a nice girlie pink creme with no overly blue undertone (I have a myriad of dark and pale colours in my collection but no medium pinks!) However I don’t think China Glaze polishes are sold in my neck of the woods (Vancouver) and I’m a little bit wary about purchasing online, so would you (or anyone else reading this) have any Essie or OPI colour suggestions? For reference I’m the same skin tone as Karen. Thanks so much, your blog is so fab =)
Mishel says
Ooo, download workouts, I didn’t think about that. I always want to ask the fitness trainers around the gym for advice but I never know if they will tell me what I’m doing is horrifically wrong or I will have to pay for a session to find out. And I know I’m not ready for a 1 on 1 session just yet…
My plans include finishing Eclipse, the third Twilight book, haha. Don’t judge ma’am! They are awesome books, but it’s rather addicting. Then soon after I need to get some rest because I have work bright and early tomorrow. Reading your blog in the morning always wakes me up though! =) Have a good night!
YadiQ says
hi karen
yes i got my sweat on and my calves HURT they desperately needed stretching along with my hip flexors – hopefully i can start enlongating my muscles – boy i am sore
mishel – totally ask a trainer questions – you dont have to pay for their answers and it is their job to help people ( wink wink this is how they are supposed to help lure people in by answering their questions and giving advice!! its their job )
i work with a trainer once a week and she freely offers people advice wanted or unwanted because she says she cannot fathom someone wasting their energy for an exercise than can potentially cause more harm than benefit.
if your body needs a kick in the butt when you are ready the 1 on 1 session is totally going to shock your body into a more muscle based fitness regimen which as women we all need to focus muscle strength!!

oh gosh, the orange ones ALL look fabulous!
to die for.

I think I like the other part of the collection more, the one with the greens and blues. Although, Laced Up is pretty gorgeous!
And when I lost some weight, my shoe size didn’t change drastically, but my feet did become a little more bony. It sounds strange, but I love my feet.

I love all of the bright colors for spring. These colors would look lovely on the toes in the caged shoe.

i am LOVING these colors..
i used to be a bit chubbier…but my shoe size is about the same… in sandals it’s like a 1/2 size smaller… i don’t know if that has to do with the weight.
