I’ve talked about how much I love eyeshadow sticks, so I was already primed and ready to like these Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24HR Concentrated Crayons.
I was not, however, expecting to LOVE ❤ them!
Here’s just a quick look at all 10 of these incredibly smooth and crazy pigmented eyeshadow sticks. Plus, they have major staying power. The packaging says up to 24 hours…but I didn’t test them for that long. Suffice to say, they last a full workday with no fading at all. I am so impressed with these shadows that I won’t be disrespectful and say that they’re only “good for a drugstore brand.” They’re just awesome period, and the icing on the cake is that you can get them at Target for $6 each.
Since there are 10 shades in the line, I broke them down by color family.
The pinks and purples…
As you can see, these are very sparkly, but still very pigmented. I find Pink Parfait to be very similar to Pink Pearl by Boots No. 7, and Lilac Lust and Lavish Lavender seem more unique to me, especially among the world of eyeshadow sticks.
Of this group, my favorite is Lilac Lust.
As for the gold and bronze shades…
The gold and bronze group are my heart and soul. I REALLY love these shades, and with how easy these crayons are to use, I see them being staples in my makeup routine.
Plus, the bottoms on these crayons twist up, so you don’t even have to worry about finding a sharpener! Of the golds and bronzes, Bronze Truffle is my favorite because it isn’t too cool toned or warm, so it’ll go with pretty much any lipstick/blush combo.
Lastly, the smokey grays…
All of these, especially Charcoal Chrome, should be great for evening looks. When I swatch Grey Crystal alone, it looks like a bright silver, but next to Charcoal Chrome you can see more of its blue tones.
The big surprise here for me is Audacious Asphalt. I was totally expecting a black, or at least a dark gray, but it looks green to me. The formula is nice and smooth and pigmented, though. It’s just that based on the name and the packaging, it isn’t what I expected.
And now for the swatches…
I can’t say enough about these eyeshadow sticks. They rank amongst my favorites from all brands (including high end).
What do you think of the eye crayon form factor? Have you tried these?
Kiss & Make-up says
You definitely seem to love ’em! 🙂 Love the look of Barely Beige, Gold Rush, Bronze Truffle and Creamy Chocolate, the swatches look great.

The golds/bronzes are really good!
Jaclyn levy says
Dumb question: how do you apply them? I usually find eye shadow crayons to be a bit clunky to apply. Are these blendable? Do you apply straight from the tube or use a brush? Thx!
Adia says
Hi Jaclyn! Totally not a dumb question! These are blendable, but they set pretty quickly, so I’ll swipe color on one eye and then blend it out with my fingers or a brush before moving to the next eye. Hope this helps!
LindaLibraLoca says
I love any makeup in stick form, so I will try them for sure.
Adia says
You won’t be disappointed!
TravelingBlush says
i second this!
Kristen says
The swatches look promising! Did these crease at all? I have somewhat oily eyelids so I tend to stay away from creamy eye shadows, but I do love how convenient and quick they are to apply!
Adia says
Hey Kristen, these are more crease-resistant than many other shadow sticks that I’ve tried. If you’ve ever tried the Urban Decay eyeshadow sticks, these are very similar! My eyelids are also somewhat oily, and at the end of the day, I did see creasing (without primer). Honestly the way my eyes are shaped I think I will always have a little creasing, so I was still really happy with these.
DawnWard says
yes, do they crease at all? I love pencils but often find they streak and or crease after an hour or so, even with lid prep.
Adia says
Hi! Without primer, these did crease by the end of the day, but they are very long lasting, so the creasing wasn’t major. It definitely didn’t bother me 🙂
jessica says
These would be good as bases.
Adia says
Definitely!
anusha says
Hii adia..i like the creamy chocolate shade..
I have maybelline color tattoo on and on bronze (aka bad to the bronze) looks silver on my pigmented eyelids.. not flattering at all!
Is bronze truffle similar to bad to the bronze? ?
Adia says
Hi Anusha! I don’t have Bad to the Bronze, but I can say the Bronze Truffle is very cool toned, so I could see how it come come across as more silvery. Hope this is helpful!
Erin says
SHEET… I think I might need all the grays, purples, and pinks. FFS!
Adia says
They’re gorgeous!
Rachel R. says
The pink, lilac, and lavender are gorgeous. Eyeshadow crayons always crease on me, unfortunately, even over primer.
Adia says
Aw, that’s too bad 🙁
Rachel R. says
At least is saves money I can buy other makeup with. lol
Kirsten says
I like the Color Tattoo jars a lot so I want to give these a try. Thanks for the swatches.
Adia says
I really like the jars too! I recommend checking this out 🙂
Jessica Revitte says
These are some of my all time favorites! Unexpectedly impressed with the quality, I think these are comparable to By Terry’s crayons.

Adia says
OH wow! I’ve always wanted to try the ones from By Terry, but now maybe I don’t need to 😉
Chelsea says
I bought the Bronze Truffle ages ago, along with Barely Beige, and they crease like crazy on me!
Adia says
Oh no, sorry to hear that!
Ametaf Johora says
i did not expect this level of quality for the bronze and smoky silver ones. epic. thanks for sharing!
Adia says
You’re welcome! I was surprised too!
Carly says
I need to get my hands on these STAT! I hate how ookey the pots can get after a while and these crayons seem so much more on-the-run friendly. It’ll be interesting to see if the packaging is effective at keeping air out because it would be a shame to see these crumble into nothing after a few months.
Adia says
These would be great for on the go! Good point about the packaging, hopefully these won’t dry out as fast as the pots.
Chris25 says
These swatches look so good! I’m eyeing the Gold, Bronze, and Chocolate.
Adia says
The chocolate and gold are super pretty!
Aj says
Yay! They’re in stick form and the swatches look good! I think I’ll pick up Lavish Lavender and Bronze Truffle to try out first, and ya know maybe pick up all of them eventually 😀
Thanks for the swatches!
