I think I may have discovered a potentially life-changing beauty packing hack this morning.
And here it is: instead of bringing the biggest makeup bag I own (which is what I usually do, BIG surprise!), I’ll bring a small one and only allow myself whatever will fit into it on the trip.
:O
Yes, I know this is Captain Obvious, but hear me out.
Clearly, someone out there has figured this out before, but it never occurred to me. Seriously, OMG! SHRINK THE BAG, KAREN!
That’s where these new Maybelline City Mini Palettes enter the picture?
Aren’t they cute? You get six powder eyeshadows in one mini palette that fits in the palm of your hand.
There are seven versions available, and here are six. They’re only $9.99 each, which is a pretty great deal.
Each palette has a combo of shimmery finishes (sorry, matte lovers!), so we’re talking frosts, glitters and satins. The textures are so soft that they’re almost creamy, and they’re all quite pigmented.
When you’re working with glitters and frosts, you have to be prepared to deal with some fallout, but overall, these are high quality shadows and a bargain, and the fallout isn’t bad.
And hopefully this never happens to you on a trip (or to me!), but if your makeup bag ever gets lost in transit, it won’t cost much to replace a City Mini.
I’m just sayin’…

Warm-toned Downtown Sunrise is my favorite one. It has three satins (a bone, beige and a dark brown) and three frosts (a pale pink, champagne and a coral). The satins are the closest things in these palettes to mattes, and the brown and beige are fantastically useful for transitioning the shimmers into the crease.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Urban Jungle is so pretty! How is the pigmentation of this one Karen? x

Ooooh.. I love me some travel friendly palettes. I always gravitate to neutrals like Chill Brunch and Urban Jungle.
For some reason the look of these palettes remind me of the Lancome 5 pan palettes

I got my hands on rooftop bronzes. I have loved it! It has replaced my tartelet in bloom palette in my daily makeup bag.. for now. They really are quite pigmented, multidimensional, and long wearing. I kind for want to own them all now! Haha.

😀 I started taking small makeup bags on trips with me a loooong time ago! It’s amazing how much less I take when I only have so much space! I always think it’s funny because I’m having so much fun and doing so much that I honestly even forget to put on my makeup when I’m vacationing –

Ok, you’re too cute in the cat ears lol!
I can see myself getting Chill Brunch Neutrals and Rooftop Bronzer for sure!
So, what did you grab from Starbucks?
Happy Wednesday, Karen!

Downtown Sunrise would be my favorite as well, and I agree, they are handy for travelling. The coral could actually work as blush too, at least on my skin tone. And if I find a brush small enough to fir the pan.

Those look very appealing and perfect for travel.
My fave is the Graffiti Pop one. I’m going to see if they’re available in Canada.
