A Rainbow of Wristlets and Clutches

Published in: Makeup Tools

So, now I have a new excuse to accessorize. :) I’m looking for a cute way to tote around my two newly prescribed inhalers, which will be joining the tubes of lipgloss, cans of cat food and random acorns I usually have on me at any given time.

I spent this morning scouring the Net for a sassy wristlet/clutch and found these 12 colorful options, each one priced for either budget babes or lavish ladies. :)

And check it: you don’t need to have a medical condition to get down with one of these little bags. No, ma’am. They’d also make perfect companions for on-the-go makeup essentials like lipglosses, blotting papers and purse-sized perfumes!

Which one’s your fave? I’m feeling the ChiChiDee Crochet purse’s cheerful cherry print lining…

Speaking of accessories

I did end up going to see Avatar last night at the movies and LOVED IT! What a visual feast. I can still see the vivid colors and textures in my mind’s eye.

As usual, when it came time to leave the house for the theater, I was running late, but my new favorite hat — a gray knitted beret from H&M — prevented a potentially disastrous hair sitch.

Yes, I kinda feel like Re-Run from What’s Happening with it on, but who cares? It’s warm and hides my wayward bangs. :)

So what’s going on today? Are you doing anything fun?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Those are some gorgeous wristlets. I like them since they are easy to carry and can store quite a bit.

I have heard great things about Avatar but I am not feeling it. Right now I am trying to get myself back to the real world. Have caught up on my sleep and today will be a day of running errands and two weeks worth of laundry. Did you enjoy your vacation?

MARISOL! I feel like it’s been forever. How was Mexico? Did you have fun?

Hawaii was nice. It was great to hang out with family and just chill for a bit. I am glad to be home though… I missed my bed and my cat, LOL!

      • Marisol says:

It does feel like forever. Mexico was great. I always have fun with my family. Glad that you had fun with your family as well.

I missed my bed too. While I was gone, I slept in different places (I sound trashy..LOL) but when i came back, I realized how much I missed it.

I have been catching up to the posts I missed and I am sorry for your friend’s loss. It’s hard to lose someone but I can’t imagine what it would be like to lose a parent. Death certainly makes us realize how precious life is. But all you can do is learn from it and try to do the best you can. I lost my cousin 2 years ago and it hit me hard. He was only 33 and had so much ahead of him. But what i took from his death is that life is short and I needed to start doing things for me. He helped me make my move to SF and I think of him often when I think of how lucky I am to be here.

        Hang in there.

        • Karen says:

Thank you, hon. I am sorry for the loss of your cousin. You’re right — if there’s anything to learn from having such a sudden and painful loss, it’s that life is just borrowed time. We have to make the most of it. :)

Glad you got back to the Bay in one piece!

Girl I’m so glad you’re back! I was getting in a funk myself because I visit your blog every day from my BlackBerry! I first of all wanted to extend my condolences to your friend, her family, and to you. I know how tough losing someone is and I’m sorry that you’ve had to endure that. I’m also really sorry that you were sick, but I’m really happy that you bounced back and made a beauty adventure out of it! Please don’t ever leave us again because if there’s someone who always makes my day, its you!

    • Karen says:

Oh cool! On my to-do list is to someday make the site easier for mobile devices like BlackBerry… hope I can do it sooner than later, LOL! :)

Thank you a bunch for your very nice words. Sending you a big hug!

  3. Solé says:

I liked most of them, but my fave is definitely the orange one with white flowers. Too cute! I should get one of these. If I’m destined to lug a stupid backpack to school for the next three or four years, I should at least have a cute clutch inside it!

  4. Kelly says:

    Hi Karen!

Love the one with the bird. :)

Today I’ve been cleaning the house all day, trying to get back into work mode after 16 straight days off. It’s ROUGH!

It’s going to be hard to get back in the swing of things tomorrow, for sure.

I just hope the rain holds off! If it’s dark and dreary I won’t be able to take it!

  5. amy says:

My favourites are the Morelle in forest green and Jemima Red Dove. One splurge and one budget.

I love the mini yellow leather “steal”. And I’m ALL about bringing hats back-I lurve them…I wore a purple kangal one out yesterday since I needed to cover up yucky hair too, and I totally agree with the adding warmth (I mean, it’s really cold here! (colorado)). Plus, after watching Mad Men and Revolutionary Road, I really think hats need to make a fashion comeback!

i’m just catching up on the blog and I’m glad you feel better. I’m so sorry that you were having a rough period, but I’m glad you are back. Reading your blog always brightens my day.

    • Karen says:

Your purple Kangol hat sounds cute! I hope you rocked it with some big hoop earrings. :)

I am so glad to hear that this site brightens your day… that really makes me happy.

      Happy (belated) new year!

  7. Hannah B says:

I totally love the Lauren Merkin Zip Pouch in Tomato –so cute with the gold studs. Also the Kitty Empire Green one is soo adorable. I’m glad you’re feeling better!

  8. Stacie says:

I like the Morelle forest green one and the Wondercandy red one. Cute! Glad you’re feeling better Karen!

  9. Karen B says:

That purple MJ wristlet is to die for. Nice selection Karen :)
Today was a bit meh for me. The evening was nice though, I crashed at my friend’s place and we watched How to marry a millionaire and Legally Blonde. I’d forgotten how much I loved the latter’s crazy cheerfulness :)

    • Karen says:

I don’t think I’ve seen How to Marry a Millionaire. It sounds fun. :)

Have you heard any of the music from the Legally Blonde musical? Some of it is pretty good.

Anyway, how are things we you? I feel like we haven’t talked in FOREVER!

      • Karen B says:

It is fun, Marilyn is pretty funny in it.

I have and I love it. My favourite is the title song, just such a great melody with that key change in the middle. Laura Bell Bundy is just brilliant.

I know! It feels like ages even though I read your blog every day. Weird huh.
I’m okay. I’ve been incredibly busy during the holiday season and on Friday rehearsals for the musical start so I’ll be very busy for the coming year and a half.
I’m so sorry about your friend’s dad. I totally understand how it can affect you immensely. The only thing I can tell you is to take your time. *hugs*

  10. 7deadlycyns says:

I vote for the purple Cole-Haan one. Looks like it has enough capacity for the inhalers (whereas some of the flatter ones don’t), and I like the fabric—can work for day inside another bag or as a club wristlet too. And it doesn’t break the bank, which is also a plus.

  11. BeckBeck says:

Ooh. I want the Morelle green one now. But I am TAPPED OUT after Christmas – and I put myself on a low-buy which I’ve ALREADY cheated on!

  12. Alexandra says:

OMG the Jemina Red Dove one is SOOOOOO CUTE !! I totally want it :D

  13. Lisa says:

Morelle green one for me please for the Splurge and for the Steal I’ll take the Cole Haan Wristlet in Plumeria

  14. Rae says:

Love the beret, Karen! You must wear it in a FOTD sometime :P

The MJ wristlet is exactly what I did NOT want to see…on one hand, it is outrageously out of my budget. And on the other, it is outrageously *gorgeous*!
    .-= Rae’s last blog post… Top posts on theNotice in 2009 =-.

    • Karen says:

I don’t own a MJ bag, but I’ve fondled ‘em (LOL!) at Saks and they are super soft. They’re such a splurge but if you got one I’m sure you’d love it to pieces.

  15. Jen says:

Oooh… Sorry to read about the inhalers. I too am one of the “sexy people” that totes an inhaler about. HATE IT!

My vote is definitely for a splurge item. You deserve it! I love the Morelle Pochette, and the green shade is gorgeous! The wrist-strap makes it extra usable.

  16. Stephie says:

I’d say it’s a fight between the Judiane one and the Marc Jacobs one. Haha.

I’ve heard great things about Avatar. It’s on my movies to watch list. Gee, and here I thought it was just an adult smurfs when I saw the trailer in the theater some time ago..

    • Karen says:

Ya know, when I first heard about it I thought it might be too cheesy for me… but it was pretty darn good. The story’s a little predictable but the visuals are AMAZING. :)

What other flicks are on your to watch list? I need to catch up on my movie watching, too!

  17. katie says:

I am coveting that Marc Jacobs bag – it’s gorgeous.

And I love a good “What’s Happening” shout out. :)

Oooh, I love the one with the bird! So cute!

  19. Tavia says:

Those look pretty good! I would say they are trying to bring in the Spring spirit :). Unfortunately they are not my style. I never wear wristlets and clutches, I just don’t like to keep my hands full all the time :)

Thanks for sharing these pictures with us! The best ones are the Cole Haan and the Marc one! (I’m a purple person, actually dressed in purple today :P )

Can’t wait for the Monday mood questions :D
