Sometimes I don’t want to think too hard about what makeup colors I’m wearing, so I’ll wear my cheek color (the same color I’m wearing) on my lids as a shadow. It’s just one of those things that saves a little brain power, and here’s whatcha do…
It’s a lazy girl’s guide to using your blush as eyeshadow.
Step 1: Apply an eyeshadow base
You can use whatever you want — a potted cream shadow, stick shadow, what have you. I’m actually wearing an eyeliner here (MAC Costa Riche) as my base. You just want to make sure that whatever you choose will work in concert/harmony with the blush you plan to wear.
Step 2: Load an eye brush with your chosen blush
And after you load it, you have a choice to make. Do you keep the brush head dry and apply it like that? Or do you wet it with a makeup setting spray (like MAC Fix+) to intensify the color?
Up to you.
Step 3: Blend that blush…on your lids
Sweep and pat to blend your blush on top of your eyeshadow base, and the higher up you take it, the more dramatic it’ll look.
Step 4: Finish with mascara
To tie things up in a neat little bow, apply one or two coats of mascara on your upper and lower lashes.
I think this is a good option to keep in your beauty back pocket when you can’t bear the thought of figuring out all the transition shades you’d probably want to wear with a more colorful eyeshadow.

I do this all the time now! I feel like blushes are a little bit more pigmented and blend a little easier. Not to mention it really does save so much time not having to super blend of reach for extra products

Great! I’m glad you use this hack, it’s so handy!

Girl, you are slaying this look! I have used blush and bronzer as a shadow before and love it! Totally here for this… can you tell this picture has sparked joy?!
Karen says
Thanks, Indya! Let me know if you try the look. I’d love to see it on you because I know you could rock it!

I need that blush in my life. I love how your look came out. Gorgeous! I sometimes use a blush or a bronzer on my eyes.

Or – an hourglass ambient lighting powder, it’s really fantastic as an eyeshadow, really luminous and still downtoned ??

I want to see if that MAC Hard to Get has carmine in it. I want to get it to use as an eye shadow, but I’m allergic to carmine and can’t use it around my eyes. I love the color, but MAC uses carmine a lot in their red colors, so I need to check it first.

The only thing I have so far worn on my eyes was my bronzer as a transition color, but I will try my blush tomorrow.

I’ll have to give this a whirl – I’m definitely a fan of pinks/reds as shadows. One guess what blush I’ll use. HAHA!

Love this look so much, Karen …very practical !

A lot of blushes aren’t really eye-safe. I’d check the ingredients carefully if it’s not labeled for eye use.

What a smart trick! I love applying make-up in different ways, even when not specifically indicated in the directions but just if I’m sure the product is safe to be used on the all face, of course. For example, I have a PUPA mousse pink blush and… I apply it as an eyeshadow base. Crazy but fun, long-lasting… well, it almost stains XD
