5 Reasons to Use a Lip Brush

5 reasons to use a lip brush

1. Lip Brushes Are More Precise Than Lipstick Bullets

Lip brushes, with their little, compact brush heads, are usually a lot more precise than your average lipstick bullet, so you can place your lipstick exactly where you want it, every time. Plus, they don’t smooth and dull like a lipstick bullet after you’ve used it a few times and the tip gets all smushed and the edges melt away… Not a problem when you’re working with a lip brush.

2. Lip Brushes Waste Less Product

To get the most moolah out of your lipsticks, apply ’em with a lip brush, because when you apply a lipstick directly from the tube, little bits tend to pool and glob in and around your lip lines and other textured areas. Also, once you wear a tube of lipstick down to the nub, don’t throw it away yet! You can reach down into the bullet to get the hard-to-reach stuff with a lip brush.

3. It’s Easier to Apply Your Lipstick Evenly With a Lip Brush

Ever have trubs evenly applying your lipstick? If you do, instead of going back and forth over the same patchy places (and wasting even more product!), even everything out by brushing over your entire lip with a lip brush.

4. Lip Brushes Boost the Wear Time of Your Lipstick

It may take a little extra time to bust out a lip brush instead of just using the bullet, but you’ll make up the difference with a longer wear time. When you apply your lipstick with a lip brush, you’ll bind the product closer to your skin by really working it in, so for big events and late nights, I always use a lip brush.

5. Lip Brushes Let You Create Your Own Custom Colors

Because it’s easy to mix multiple lipsticks together (I’ll just use the back of my hand), and apply your new custom color using a lip brush.

Sometimes the hardest thing is when you create a custom color that you really like, but then later you can’t remember what you did (yes, I’ve done this myself).

For me the main selling point here is precision! I use a lip brush with all my dark/vampy or bold lip colors. The bullet of a lipstick is just not precise enough to create a clean line, and doe-foot applicators can also be tricky. The brush allows me draw a perfect line despite being very clumsy!

I generally use a brush for my darker lipsticks, reds & wines & berries. Not only can I get the precise lining I’m looking for but like you said, the color lasts longer & leaves me with a great stain as the formula wears off. Last week I bought NYX’s Aria, which looks purple online, looks like blackberry jam in person but when applied to my lips, it’s a lovely plush raspberry color which fades to a lovely deep pink with blue undertones. The one thing I don’t like about darker lippies is that I think they make my mouth look smaller.

I love lip brushes and no one ever talks about them! For me I wish there were a lot more retractable brushes to take on the go. They make me feel a little fancier when putting on my lipstick too. Does that count for anything?

  4. Yeah, you just can’t get perfect precision without a good lip brush!

A friend gifted me a retractable Chanel lip brush a few years ago. I keep it in my purse to use for moments when I’m on the go. It even came with its own cute little velour holder. Definitely handy to have around when you’re on the go but want your lippie to look precise.

  6. I have to admit I rarely use a lip brush. I focus on the lips rather than on the eyes whenever I want to do my makeup quickly, so using a brush would kinda defeat the purpose.

I depot most of my lipsticks to save space and for archiving, so I actually use a lip brush quite often. It really is more precise. I hate sticking my fingers in lipgloss pots, too, so they’re nice for that. And for lip tars, or to even out liquid lipsticks.

I think I need to get out my lip brushes with all those reasons. I have 2 or 3 retractable ones that are perfect for the purse.

  9. I swear I hav one somewhere, but I rarely use it. Need to find it and use it for that darker shades…
