Ladies, I sure hope you’re able to get away from things for a couple hours to enjoy a fun movie night out with friends. You deserve a break! Go with girlfriends, that strapping young man in your life, or, hell, go by yourself (which I’ve done many times before). And to help you get ready for movie night, here are five quick makeup tips!
Face
Eyes
- Before applying your eye makeup, start with Olay Definity Eye Illuminator ($25.99). Its multi-colored micas help to hide imperfections and limit the amount of makeup you’ll need to use around your eyes.
- Use shimmer eyeshadows and blush selectively, especially if you’re going out to dinner before the movie. Harsh bar and restaurant lighting accentuates the contrast in shimmery makeup.
Lips
- What makes a good story? The answer: drama. For dramatic lips, start with a good round tip lip brush. Apply your lipstick from the center of the lips (the bow of the upper lip and the center of the lower lip), working outward toward the corners. To line your lips, use a color that complements the shade you chose for your lips.
- For extra shiny oomph!, apply a layer of MAC Clear Lipglass($13.50) on top of your lipstick.
Could somebody please pass the popcorn?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Hi Karen, I can’t wait for the SNTC movie! You remind me of Carrie… that reminds me, does el hub look like Big? =)
May 24th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
Hi Marisol!
LOL, I wish I was the fifth friend! I think most of us who love the show all wish that, though.
Want to know something funny? A few radio stations where I live have been hosting these SATC contests to win tix to the pre-screening. The DJ’s usually ask a trivia question and then you gotta call in or text your answer. I *never* want to enter those things, but for the first time, ever, I wanted to last week! I was just about to text the the answer to one of the questions (it was “What’s Mr. Big’s real name?”), but the light turned red and I couldn’t send in my answer ’cause I can’t text and drive at the same time. Sigh! I’ll just have to wait until Friday.
Hope you’re havin’ a good one!

Hi Kris,
That’s so nice of you to say! Carrie is one of my favorite characters from the show. (I am totally envious of her shoe collection!) And, nope, El Hub looks nothing like Mr. Big.
Are you going on opening day/night next week to catch the film?
May 25th, 2008 at 12:20 am
Hi Karen,
I cant wait for the SATC movies, as you know, I live in London, so only 2 days to go !! Woohoo !!
Now I need to pick an outfit to wear to the cinema/movies…no doubt everyone will going in killer heels…
That pictures has got me wondering….what on earth are they all doing sitting on Carrie’s bed laughing..oohing and ahhing like that….I’m guessing it might be Charlotte’s daughter raiding Carries cupboard with some crazy outfit ??!
Hope you’re having a great weekend. Its pouring with rain over here…whats new eh !

Don’t forget the waterproof mascara! I’m going to be loading mine on before I head out to SATC.
PS. The picture up there made me laugh for, like, five straight minutes. You’re too cute!

Hey Karen!
)
Tell those ladies you need a bit more of space in that bed! (how rude of them!, LOL!):D
I’ve never seen a single cap of SATC and here in Spain there aren’t many fans (compared with USA). Anyway, we all have seen pictures and such, and we have the promo pictures of the film everywhere! I would love to go to one of those preview shows just to wear some cool clothes (excuses for shopping, anyone?
By the way, I got the aqualumiere in Glass Quartz and I totally love it!
Have a nice day sweetie!
Hugs :3

I had a super, super busy week with work last week, and I’m actually at work for a bit today….BOOOO. But I will have tomorrow off for the holiday, yay!
May 25th, 2008 at 10:08 am
Hi Anna,
You are so lucky! I bet most of the women there on opening day will be wearing killer heels.
It rained a bit here yesterday but today the sun is out. Anything going on for today?
May 25th, 2008 at 10:08 am
Hi Chess,
Great idea. I will update the post and add that in when I get the chance. What’s your fave waterproof mascara? I’ve been crushing hard on Shu Uemura lately.
May 25th, 2008 at 10:08 am
Hi Eru,
I know, they’re such bed hogs. Ohhhh Glass Quartz! Pretty! What do you think of the formula?
I haven’t been back to the Chanel counter for a few weeks and I’m really tempted to because my small jar of eye cream is almost out. I don’t know if I can get myself to spring for an actual jar, but maybe I can talk my way into some samples. We’ll see.
Happy Sunday! Enjoy your day!

Hi Glosslizard,
Let’s see, I’m more of a jeans and a t-shirt girl as of late, so I guess in that dream I’m wearing jeans that don’t fall off my bum and a Chanel t-shirt, LOL. OH, and some Manolos, of course. And since it’s a dream let’s assume that the shoes don’t hurt and fit oh-so-comfortably.:)
Well said! I will add those tips and do an update. I’ve heard some rumors about the movie so I’m guessing I’ll be needing some waterproof action.

Hi Amanda,
How fun! I love that you two are going to get dressed up to watch it. I am going to wear some heels, but that’s about it. I thought about sporting a feather boa, but that might be a lil’ too over the top for a matinee.
(OH, and hi, “E”! *waves*)
I feel ya pain, girlfriend. We’ll be working together today. I’ll be here at my computer with you in worker bee solidarity. Hopefully I’ll get tomorrow off, too. I want to go to Lancome and look at some palettes.

I just picked up a tube of Clinique’s Lash Power, which I’m loving so far for its water-resistance and how easy it is to take off at the end of the day (no remover required, just a little warm water and gentle pressure - it’s one of those “tubey” mascaras), so even though it doesn’t create the best definition I’ve ever seen, it’s what I’ll be wearing on SATC night. A couple of coats produces pretty lashes for an evening out, but like I said, not the “falsies” effect you get from some brands.
I need to get me some Shu! They don’t sell it here in New Zealand (boo!), but I’m from Hong Kong and have spent a LOT of time in the past trawling the counters, so I’m very familar with the prods.

Hey Karen!
After reading this post I realized how long it’s been since I’ve seen a movie in an actual theater! I’m so behind on the summer blockbusters already…
I hope you are having a nice relaxing long weekend! My birthday was on Friday (w00t!) and I treated myself to that Chanel Leopard lipstick and Aqualumiere lipgloss in Candy Glow. Love love love them.
Hmm I’m actually in the mood for some popcorn now…anyways keep up the great work!
May 25th, 2008 at 12:10 pm
I will watch the SATC movie on Thursday with my girls… And of course I will wear a great makeup then
Enjoy the movie!

Great! Just laughed so hard I nearly snorted my coffee out my nose. That pic is too darn funny, it’s your facial expression LOLZZZZZ!!!
I have been eyeing (har, get it?) the Eye Illuminator for weeks now and I think I should just go ahead and get it. I get kinda bag-a-licious and use LM Secret Camo but love to lessen the need for so much concealing. I’ll report back with results….
Oh, and I saw a really cute interview w/ SJP re: the SATC movie, she was saying that her little son’s first word was “Shoe.” HOW CUTE!!!
May 25th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
Hi Chess,
I have Lash Power, too. While I like its staying power it’s a look that’s not as *POW!* as I’d like it to be.
I’ve been using Shu’s Precise Volume Mascara. It doesn’t do a lot for thickness, but it really makes the lashes look separated and very long.
That’s cool that you’re from New Zealand. I’ve never been there and hope to go there someday, as I’ve heard from friends that it’s beautiful.

Hi Jacks,
Happy Birthday!
Hope you had a wonderful day and that it was filled with fun. Oh, I’m so glad that you treated yourself to some birthday loot. That’s very important!
I just got back from lunch with El Hub and I’m ready to take a nap. ZZZZ…
May 25th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
Hi Susanne,
How fun! I’ll be with you in spirit (wearing some fierce makeup, of course!). Can’t wait to hear what you think about it.
May 25th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
Hi Abby,
I am getting kinda bag-a-licious, too. The no sleep thing ain’t helping, that’s for sure.
How’s your weekend been so far?
May 26th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
zomg, wtf is charlotte wearing?
May 27th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
