For Your Viewing Pleasure, the New MAC Keepsakes Nude Lip Bag and Kristin Perry Jewel Saturation Necklace

October 14th, 2014 by Karen 18 Comments

‘Sup, girl

First, for your viewing pleasure, Tabs in a rhinestone necklace…

“Day. Officially. Made.” says the woman who lives for chunky kitties in statement jewelry. 🙂

The bling, by the way, is the $68 Jewel Saturation Necklace by Kristin Perry, which Tabs likes because the Art Deco-ness of it makes him feel like he’s in The Great Gatsby.

Next, also for your viewing pleasure, there’s the new limited edition Keepsakes Nude Lip Bag from the MAC Keepsakes holiday collection ($39.50 US, $47.50 CAD).

I know, I know — warm nude lips… I’m so easy! 🙂 But whatevs, I’ll be able to wear this trio with errrrthing, and by errrrthing I mean smokey eyes, mostly of the brown, black and bronze variety, and cat eye liner.

For $39.50 you get a chic makeup bag, one Lip Pencil in Boldly Bare (a must-have nude lip liner from the MAC permanent line), a peachy coral Lustre Lipstick in Kiss the King and creamy yellow nude Lipglass in Chic Supremacy.

Boldly Bare, a warm peachy, pinkish brown, pairs well with just about every peachy pink nude lipstick I’ve tried, and I think it also looks good on its own or with a bit of clear lip balm or gloss on top.

If you like Subculture, I have a feeling you’ll also like Boldly Bare.

The Nude Lip Bag is one of three limited edition Keepsakes Lip and Eye Bags in the MAC holiday collection (with the other two being Red and Coral). All three will be available on the MAC website starting October 19, and in stores October 23 through December 18.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

So many good feels. I need this kit. I thought I wanted the ruby woo one, but this. This is my jam. I think it’s the proximity to Tabs that makes me like it more. Tabs makes it classy, grown up, cat lady/assistant makeup.

      Hi Miriam,

The Ruby Woo kit is very dramatic, which I think is super cool, but this kit is the one you want if you’re looking something more for everyday. Tabs approves of both kits!

Are you also a kitty assistant?

        Hi Karen,

I just knew Tabs would. He has fantastic taste.
I am a kitty assistant. Although, unlike Tabs, the kitty I assist isn’t big on makeup. Perfume is her speciality. But the fish I assist, he’s another story. Makeup is his thing. He’s all about simple and classic, with a touch of pizzazz somewhere. Says that’s the way of a monochrome Beta.

          Hi Miriam,

What kind of kitty is your in-house perfume expert? And does she have a favorite scent? Tabs is usually a Chanel kinda cat (big surprise), although occasionally he ventures into Frederic Malle territory.

And I kind of love that your Beta is into classic makeup. I bet he’s all about the cat eyes and red lips, yes? A few years ago I used to live with a Beta (RIP Sushi!); he was El Hub’s buddy and Tabs’ nemesis.

Hope you’re having a nice Thursday so far. 🙂

She’s a Maine coon kitty. When we inherited the assistant duties that came with her when she was adopted, she was well trained in the art of classy perfume picking. She enjoys a good whiff of Chanel No. 5, Marc Jacobs, and Florabotanica. She like her scents on warmer ends, especially when it comes to flowers. I get snubbed and dismissed when I wear Clinique Happy Hearts.

My Beta does enjoy a good cat eye and red lip, but he would rather forgo cat eyes and do big lashes. Says they look like his tail, which is, as you can expect the high pinnacle of the mascara wearing.

My Thursday is going wonderfully, I am talking to the woman who got me into MAC and one of my makeup and kitty assistant idols. Hope yours is wonderful as well!

    Hi Karen,
Hope you had a wonderful day. I have to say that furball of yours is so freaking cute…. and with that necklace…. dear god! I just want to hug him like crazy. If I lived in San Fran, I would want to cat sit Tabs whenever you are away.

Now about make up, love the nude. I did not think much of it until I saw the swatch. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE IT!

Hugs from the Great up North!

      Hi May,

Aww, thank you! He would happily take your hugs. Despite his reputation as a diva, Tabs is actually very affectionate (shh… don’t tell anyone). He loves sitting on my lap and snugging with me. In the morning, when I’m still in bed, the first thing he does is climb on top of my chest and then he repeatedly head butts me until I give him a hug, LOL. I think you two would get along great.

So… makeup! If you like these colors you definitely need MAC Subculture Lip Pencil in your life (if you don’t have it already). It’s one of those must-have nude shades.

        Hi Karen,
ooh I knew he was a cuddler…. he has that look in his kitty eyes. Head butts? That is so cute. *sigh* I seriously need a furball in my life. For now all I have are Mrs. Coon and her fur babies (they are so cute!!).

Subculture, nice!!! Will look into it. I have two lip pencils and both are from Estee Lauder ( one is a coral red and the other is a mauve). I am more of a lipstick girl. I am the kind who puts on lipstick without a mirror. 😛

        In the mean time…HAPPY FRIDAY!

        Hugs!!

Really pretty colors but it’s hard to get excited about them when you lead with the stunning pics of Tabs. I mean, I understand that’s what draws people in. It’s just that the makeup following can’t help but pale in comparison. 🙂

Also, that poor bag would stay clean for about 6 seconds in my house. HAHA!

      Hi Kim,

Sometimes I feel like I should just give in and put him in every picture. He is the ultimate photo prop! Wait… maybe I should seriously consider doing this, LOL!

You totally should! He’s such a great model (I know, duh!). Even my most mellow kitty would lose it if I tried to use her as a prop. She totally lost her mind when we tried a collar and I thought she’d choke herself trying to get it off. 🙁

Maybe the collar didn’t have enough bling on it?! That’s usually Tabs’ problem. If it isn’t flashy, he’s not having it, haha!

OMG – just what I need, more nudes; but, I love these colors. This combo looks really nice and I think more wearable for me than RUby Woo.
I wouldn’t mind checking out the coral one too.

    LOVE anything Tabs related.

      Hiya Majick!

LOL, I felt the same way when I first saw this kit. Seriously, if you looked inside my purse, about half the weight is due to nude lipsticks/liners/glosses. Sure, it’s another nude lip combo, but at least you’ll get a lot of use out of it, right?

Tabs says hi, by the way! He is currently stuffed and chillin’ on the living room couch. I had to give him extra treats and catnip this morning because I had him try on his halloween costume last night, and um, let’s just say he wasn’t feeling it as much as the statement jewelry. That cat is all about the bling!
