OK, so I’m enjoying an Amy’s Mexican Casserole Bowl and watching Gilmore Girls last night when I kindasorta FREAKED THE EFF OUT. One of the main characters in the show, Lorelei Gilmore (the mom half of the Gilmore duo), was getting her best friend Sookie ready for a date, doing her hair, putting on her makeup — all of that good stuff a beauty BFF does for her gal pals. Anywho, when she’s ready to apply Sookie’s lipstick, she calls out to her daughter Rory (the other half of the Gilmore Girls) downstairs to bring up “Viva Glam.” Yes! THE Viva Glam. She doesn’t say the word “MAC,” but when she holds the lipstick up to Sookie’s lips, you can clearly see the tube, and it’s definitely MAC.
Witty banter? Endless cups of coffee? MAC makeup references? This just might be the best show ever. 🙂
I still had Viva Glam on my mind this morning when I was getting ready, so I took out my favorite version, Viva Glam V Lipglass, and paired it with a cool-toned smokey brown and peach eye using the new Too Faced Sugar & Spice Palette ($39, available now), and the new NARS Virtual Domination Cheek Palette.
Also, just for fun, and to see how the eyes would look with a more dramatic lip, I swapped out Viva Glam V with the new Viva Glam Rihanna 2 Lipstick and Lipglass…
Wow! I actually really like the bolder lip combo.
Incidentally, the first time I wore the Rihanna 2 lippies separately, I felt they looked a little too stark on me. Then I tried them together and came around. Now I’m lovin’ that deep, sparkling pinkish mauve.
As for my cheeks, I’m wearing the new NARS Virtual Domination Cheek Palette ($65, from the new holiday collection). It comes with three blushes (Sex Fantasy, Deep Throat and Final Cut), a highlighter (Miss liberty) and a bronzer (good ol’ Laguna), available exclusively at Sephora starting November 1.

I bought this TF palette just a few days ago, and just today I was searching for an eye makeup tutorial using this palette. I love how this looks on you, so I will definitely try it out! And I was also waiting for you to swatch the NARS blush palette as well, will be buying it as soon as is available 😉

Oh! I thought Laguna would look like mud, not like gold. Uh-oh.

I’m digging it, both lip looks. I think the second look is more creative/artistic and is completely innovative. I LOVE unconventional looks that are bold and daring. And I think you work it well. I just spotted that TF palette during my Sephora run. Definitely collecting ideas on what to get for the holidays. 🙂

Your skin looks so radiant and flawless here, beautiful. This is really a great look for you.

I love that they only put in one “required” shade but for me I’d have been happier with Orgasm over Laguna.

I LOVE the Too Faced palettes because they just look different than anything else. The shadows kind of glow.
Am I reading right….that this fabulous glow I’m trying to discover is simply Too Faced BB creme, Too Faced cocoa foundation and Nars Miss Liberty? Dear Lord, please help me find my Miss Liberty and please please let my light shine like Karen’s. Thank you Jesus, Amen and Amen!!!
How much of the glow do you think is due to the foundation combo? (Just between us)

Just started watching GG? I can in fact confirm that it IS the best show ever! (Pretty much all my female friends love it as much as I do) I remember that episode too… who could forget Rune?
I like both palettes! Particularly the TF one. Love the look on you. The Nars one is pretty too – I’d be tempted if I hadn’t had bad reactions to Orgasm and Laguna in the past… a bit wary of trying their blushes or bronzers again 🙁

Speaking of TV references. I had that same kind of freak out when watching an episode of Friends, The One With Chandler and Monica’s Wedding, that the character Monica pulls out a NARS palette to do her makeup!

I appreciate how you listed everything you used. You have a real talent of putting together colors to make it a cohesive look- I struggle with that so much! I was also wondering if you have a found a powder foundation comparable to MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. I used to love it but my dermatologist told me I couldn’t handle the bismuth oxychloride in it.
