Hey, bubbles. 🙂 Just in case you were looking for makeup to wear to the laundromat…
BOOM! MAC Wash and Dry.
Yes, domestic divas, a freaking laundromat serves as the backdrop for MAC’s new summer collection, Wash and Dry.
As a woman who has probably spent approximately one third of her adult life hanging out in laundromats (I didn’t have a washer/dryer until I moved into this condo), I feel qualified to say that this is by far the schmexy-est laundromat of them all.
First, you don’t have worry about running out of quarters, or about somebody stealing your cat t-shirts and stretchy pants out of the dryer, or about that creepy dude lurking in the corner who you suspect intends to flash you. None of those are issues at this facility. In fact, the odds of that man offering to touch up your eye makeup are far greater than the odds of him exposing his manly bits.
This collection is so much more fun than washing and folding clothes. 🙂
It’s a pretty substantial one, too, with four steamy lipsticks (one word: BRIGHTS), four glosses, a couple of blushes, two nail polishes and a bad-@ss highlighting powder (stay tuned for that review) — oh, and bronzers, of course, because it’s not a legitimate MAC summer launch without a guest appearance by Refined Golden, obvs.
For eyes, there are a massive number of brow products, a few liners, a waterproof mascara and three eyeshadow trios, which leads me to this…
I’m wearing Permanent Press, one of the $27.50 Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow Trios from the collection, in this toasty brown, smokey cat eye today, and I had absolutely no trouble blending it, thanks to the silky — almost creamy — Veluxe Pearlfusion formula. It’s super lightweight, so melding the colors into each other doesn’t require a lot of effort with a blending brush.
You can wear them dry, like I’ve done here, for a dreamy metallic shine, or apply them with a wet brush for more of a goddess-emerging-from-the-surf (or the laundry soap suds, in this case) foil-like shine. Either way, they last from 7-8 hours on my combination lids when applied atop primer.
MAC Wash and Dry Collection Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow Trios: Notes on the individual trios…
Permanent Press: When it comes to everyday eye makeup, I gravitate toward neutrals a lot of the time, so this trio of beige, neutral brownish bronze and black infused with golden pearl sits at the top of my laundry list.
It’s just so flexible! You can smoke it out for an intense look, or do a quick wash of color on your lids with it if you’re in a hurry (10-minute makeup, yo!). Or, do something sort of in the middle, like a smokey cat eye. I think this trio is the most workable of the three in terms of color temp, and the skin tones that could rock it, because of how neutral its neutrals are.
They’re pretty darned neutral. Not too warm, nor cool, so it should work well for most everyone.
Warm Wash: The copper in the center of this trio is so sparkly that I make grabby hands whenever I see it. Too bad its just SO chunky. I think a fingertip or a brush saturated with MAC Fix + might be the best tools to use for this one, and I’d steer clear of fluffy brushes, because they’re liable to throw Warm Wash powder particles all over the place.
Green Clean: Dat khaki tho!!! Wet or dry, it’s the business. There’s an undercurrent of gold in it that really makes it pop on a tan.
Ooh! — you know what would be pretty? Doing either the light pale green, or the lime green, lightly buffed on the lids with khaki cat eye liner.
Note to self: make that happen, ASAP. 🙂
One last thing — if you like to apply your foundation first, I suggest holding a tissue under your lash line when you apply and blend these Veluxe Pearlfusions to catch any wayward falling shadow, because I usually experience a little fallout with them, especially the darker colors.
Look for Pearlfusion-powered suds and laundry-themed adventure when these Veluxe Pearlfusions arrive for a limited time with the rest of the MAC Wash and Dry collection online May 14, and at MAC stores and counters May 21.
Now (ugh), let’s go do some laundry.

I WANT MORANGE & THE LIPGLOSS THAT LOOKS SIMILAR TO IT! I don’t have anything close to it (though I know Morange is permanent) but the seriously cute packaging makes this an easy purchase for me. Yaaaay!
Karen says
YES! I love the packaging too. I live for this time of year…the summer collections!!!
Agata says
Me too! I totally want Morange although it will probably look awful on me.
Kwmechelle says
AGATA!!! I think Morange would look lovely on you!! You MUST buy it!!
Karen says
I second this. It will be bold and different, but very cool.
Agata says
I don’t know. I will have to check it out at the counter first!
Agata says
You look so pretty in these photos, Karen. I will admit I’m not crazy about these eyeshadows but the bronzers, lipglasses and lipstick- heck yeah! The packaging is so pretty!!

It looks like a really fun collection. I haven’t bought anything from MAC in a while. My latest purchases have been either drugstore, or my latest one from Sephora was Naked on the Run, one of my faves now.
Karen says
Hi Katherine,
I’d love to hear your drugstore gems! Here are a few of mine:
Flower Beauty Lip Creams
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
L’Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation
Katherine M says
L’Oreal makes some good stuff! Haven’t tried Flower yet, will have to check them out next time I head to Walmart.
My faves are:
~Maybelline SuperStay 24hr concealer (stays put all day and won’t rub off).
~NYX Hi Definition Eyeshadow base (in a black, mascara-like tube with a doe-foot applicator – works as well as my fave UD primers).
~Garnier Nutrisse hair color (doesn’t dry out my hair when I color at home).
~And lately, I’ve really been loving Physician’s Formula Argan Oil collection. The BB cream really hydrates my skin well, and I got this touch of gold argan oil that adds very subtle highlights to my hair (because it has gold shimmer), and hydrates my skin without giving me zits. I wasn’t totally for using oil on my face until I tried that stuff.

I’m kind of liking Green Clean. I like that the mid shade is lime instead of gold or a lighter khaki, like most khaki trio. It’s a nice pop of brightness.

From this collection, I am interested in playing with the brushes, having a look at the lipsticks and checking out those sculpt powders! This reminds me… where is my sculpt powder?!
Kiss & Make-up says
I wish there were some matte or satin finishes too. But the colors do look pretty.

That sparkly copper in Warm Wash looks gorgeous!!
Fancie says
MAC is REALLY trying to make fetch happen with these Veluxe Pearlfusion palettes lol. This is the first time I’m remotely interested though. The green one looks divine! I love the lime and khaki shades!

I’m actually wearing it in these pics! I’m still testing it. 🙂

Back to the laundry topic, the weekend seems to draw nearer.
I just want something from that collection because the packaging is so pretty. That hasn’t happened for quite some time now. As most of the stuff is already sold out online here, I´ll try to get my hands on Morange soon.

Can you be anymore gorgeous?!?!
Love this hilarious laundry post and ugh, there goes my wallet with a new collection!
