The Girls of MAC Creme Team Arrive, Rivalry Ensues

February 5th, 2009 by Karen 33 Comments

The girls of MAC Creme Team arrived at MAC counters today to sign autographs, give interviews and talk strategy before the big game.

First, the eight members of the Cremesheen lipstick squad sauntered in with plenty of attitude, dressed in black and ready to rumble.

Top row: Lavender Whip, Lickable, Creme in Your Coffee, Hang-Up; bottom row: Creme Cup, Shy Girl, Crosswires, Spice is Nice

Top row: Creme Cup, Creme in Your Coffee, Crosswires, Hang-Up; bottom row: Lavender Whip, Lickable, Shy Girl, Spice is Nice

“Expect a good matchup,” said Cremesheen Lipsticks captain Shy Girl, “but the real winners are the fans. They love our creamy texture and shiny finish. The competition better bring their A game because we’re bringing lip moisturization like it’s never been broughten before!”

Crowd favorite Creme in Your Coffee flashed a reverse peace sign to fans before taking a seat on the counter. “Neutral pink brown lips in the hizz-ouse!”

From top to bottom: Ever So Rich, Fashion Scoop, Creme Anglaise

From left to right: Boy Bait, Petite Indulgence, Partial to Pink, Melt in Your Mouth (for pics and swatches of Looks Like Sin, check out this previous post)

Not to be outdone by the veteran lipstick squad, the gloss girls of Cremesheen Glass stood tall and regal, their creamy colors glowing with rare intensity.

“Yeah,” said Boy Bait, Cremesheen Glass captain, “it’s gonna be a good game. We’re sheer and creamy, but so what? We might not have the pigmentation, but we don’t need it. We have what it takes to shine.”

From left to right: Caramellow, Pink Treat, Sublime Culture, Velvetella

Which team will win the hearts and minds of MAC lovers? Fans are split. Will it be Cremesheen Lipsticks or Cremesheen Glass?

“Sheer’s pretty,” said Karen of Makeup and Beauty Blog, “but a lot of women wanted more pigmentation. The lipsticks have the shine, better coverage and the moisturization I crave.”

Then, pulling a slightly overweight tabby from her purse and pointing at the lipstick between the cat’s teeth she added, “Even my cat prefers the Lipsticks.”

Tabs hearts Hello Kitty

I let Tabs out earlier today, and he came back with these pictures. I think he has a crush on Ms. Kitty. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I’m torn between Shy Girl and Creme in Your Coffee. I’m one of those people that picks makeup based on the name 😉 I’m looking for a nude-ish pink but I’m worried that Shy Girl is too light a pink for me. I’ll just have to see in person, I guess.

LOL! Great post! I went out and looked at Creme Team today, I didn’t really like Lavender Whip on, but I came away happy with Petite Indulgence! I also pre-ordered On the Prowl nail polish from HK, I might try for Creme in my Coffee when I go to pick it up! Gotta see how much I spend for Valentine’s Day first! 😉

    Hi Glosslizard,

Did you try it with Ever So Rich on top? Together they are AWESOME.

Yes, they both came home with mama, LOL! I’m looking pretty tow’ up right now so I’ll try and post a pic tomorrow.

I almost got Petite Indulgence! How does it show up on you? Is it very dark?

Such great swatches! Thanks, Karen! I’m going to go see these next Friday before field work I have to do in SOMA. I figure that way it’ll be close to pay day as well that I can pay off whatever I buy 😉 You think I can/should wait that long or do you think this collection will be out of stock soon?

By the way! I like the new High Impact Curling Mascara, it’s a tubing mascara, right? I hope you say “yes” or that means I got a really bad tube 😛 I guess I have to get used to the curved brush since I’ve never used one before… any application tips?

Hope you had a great Thursday! Not too gloomy in your part of the Bay I hope! 🙂 Best to you, El Hub, and Tabs 🙂

Lol! I loved how you did this one – especially with that sports thingy just past (I know, I suck at keeping up with sports) it was perfect!

I have to ask: what camera do you use? Your pics are fabulous, so I always assumed you had one of those large black ones. But most bloggers don’t haul those out to stores (they’re huge!) If there is a sleek little point-and-shoot that takes photos this great, I *must* know what it is! 🙂

    Hi Scifi,

Names are big for me too. If something has a cheesy name then it turns me off sometimes (totally happened in the Dame Edna release).

I almost came home with Shy Girl. It’s a very pretty shade — on me it shows up more coral than pink, and it’s very warm.

How about Modesty? That’s a lovely pale pink. If you want a swatch let me know — I’ll repost the link.

    Hi Lesley,

Sure! 🙂 I think it depends on what color you have your eye on. The lipsticks are supposed to be perm but the Glasses are only there until March, so if you’re lusting after any of the Glasses then you should jump on it, just in case.

And if you shop at Nordie’s and they don’t have a certain color they can always get a color for you!

I wore the Curling Mascara today, too. One thing that I found helps is to place the brush along the natural curve of the base of the lashes, and then slowly wiggle it back and forth as you go upward. I do this first with the fat end positioned at the outer corner (closest to my ear). After I’m done with that, I position the skinny tip in the inner corner (closest to my nose), and move upwards. I hope this makes sense…

Have a lovely Friday and stay dry!

    Hi Rae,

I have a couple of Canons. I’m totally guilty of lugging my big ole’ Rebel to the counter, LOL. But honestly it depends on what camera has its batteries charged. I have an ancient Power Shot that from like, 2005, that I still LOVE because it’s great for certain things, like swatches. I also like my newer model SD950 IS. If I could merge myself bionically with this camera I probably would, ha!

I got Shy Girl and Creme Cup today and I <3 Shy Girl! It’s the perfect peachy-nude I was looking for. I’m not totally sold on Creme Cup yet… it looks a little cool on me (but I was wearing Nuance today, so we’ll see)…

    Hi Catherine,

I am now kicking myself for not picking up Shy Girl! It’s soo pretty, isn’t it? I bet it would look great layered beneath coral and peach lipglosses.

Hey Karen, so you got the brush set? How do you find the quality of the brushes? I want them SO bad, but since none of the stores in Calgary are doing pre-order 🙁 I’m going to have to take my chances!

I think I’m into the cremesheen glasses, I’m definitely a gloss girl although I have been searching for that perfect shine lipstick with a color that I can use everyday…hmm…Creme in your Coffee and Shy Girl are definite contenders. I’m going to investigate further 🙂

this has been by far the most amusing post you have done

i woke up with a spasm in my back had a rough commute, had a client pestering me on my cell phone since 8 am spilled coffee all over my desk and keyboard – it has been a rough start to friday !

this post has cracked me up super super funny and entertaining lol as much as i have been ignoring color on my lips as of late i have to check it out to see if the lipstuff will talk to me lol

    happy friday !

Petite Indulgence actually comes out fairly strong on me. It’s an absolutely gorgeous sort of strawberries-and-cream-meets-bubblegum pop of pink, absolutely perfect for a pop of color and a springtime mood! 🙂

It was all I was in the mood to pick up yesterday, but honestly I have a feeling that Creme Team and I have not seen the last of each other! I’m also really looking forward to seeing you use Lavender Whip in a look, maybe it will give me a better idea of her potential! It wasn’t ringing my bell yesterday, but I want to want it! (I’m such a sucker for makeup! 😛 )

I picked up Lavender Whip (although I don’t know where I would wear it/what eye make-up I would wear with it), Petite Indulgence, Melt in Your Mouth, and Ever So Rich.
I am very pale, so Petite Indulgence and Melt in Your Mouth are pretty pigmented for me!

Thanks for letting me know, Karen! The huge camera was definitely worth hauling around in this case – the photos are absolutely fabulous! I love my Canon Power Shot, but I’m looking to get a newer one (mine’s ancient!) I’ll be sure to check out the 950 🙂 thanks!

    Hi Justine,

I didn’t get it! My friend let me take a pic of it, LOL! I like the kitty head dispenser but to tell you the truth I’ve never been fond of the MAC SE brush sets. I think they feel scratchier than the regular, long handled MAC brushes. I didn’t get to touch or feel the HK ones, though, so who knows. Maybe they upped the quality…

    Hi Erin,

How about a very thin, crisp line on the upper lash line, some false lashes (or plenty of mascara), light mauve cheeks to go with Lavender Whip?

    Hi Rae,

I know! The huge cameras definitely perform differently. Even though my Rebel is only 10 megapixels it handles light and detail much differently than the point and shoot.

There’s a new Power Shot out that’s an upgrade from mine that has 14 megapixels — you might want to check that one out, too!
