Old-school MAC right hurr! It’s been a minute since I’ve talked about the Cream Colour Bases, but I’ve been wearing Improper Copper and Vintage Rose as cream blushes lately and just remembered what makes them so, so good.
These multitasking creams moonwalk across the skin and stay put on my lids, lips and cheeks. You can easily blur the edges with your finger, too, even if you consider yourself blending-challenged.
I wear Shell and Hush as eyeshadow bases and highlighters all the time, and I give them ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ out of 5 hearts for being awesome.
Do you have a fave? Which one, and how do you use it? Inquiring minds want to know.

Karen

Are these similar in texture to the paint pots? I use painterly as a base most days, and under eye concealer. I’ll have to check out the bases.
Karen says
Hi Lisa,
No, they’re thinner and “wetter” than the paint pots. If you have dry skin they’re lovely as an eye base; if you have oil skin you may need to sandwich a primer underneath and powder on top to keep them in place.

Hi Ms. Karen,
I have root – but I actually don’t ever use it. I’ve tried using it for a primer on my eyes… but my shadow creases? It just sits with my other make up and catches dust.. I guess I’m doing it wrong? I thought it would be great as a wear alone easy eye – but it’s too tacky for that to me. Help?
Karen says
Hi Gina,
I kinda like that it’s semi-glossy and moves around if you wear it by itself… But you know me, I like those edgy/editorial makeup. Try layering an industrial strength eye primer underneath it (NARS makes a great one, it comes in a white tube, but anything transparent that’s designed to hold eye makeup in place will do). You can also try setting it with a powder eyeshadow.

I haven´t use any of the cream color bases, but if I end up getting one, I´ll go for Improper Copper, because the name makes me laugh.

Yup, it’s pretty funny!
