Tonight I stopped by the mall to get an up close and personal look at the rest of the two brand-spankin’ new MAC collections that arrived today, All Ages, All Races, All Sexes and MAC in Lillyland. 🙂
I set out to find my favorites and brainstorm with the makeup artists at the counter to find the best of the rest.
MAC in Lillyland: I’m blushing
Lillyland’s color palette takes me straight to the tropics, with glistening sparkles like droplets of rain on exotic flowers in shades of vibrant pink, orange and purple.
Cremeblend Blush in Florida ($19). Florida looks shockingly pink in her pan, but she applies like a semi-transparent hot pink on cheeks. My MAC buddy Rose loves Florida, which she called a dead ringer for MAC Dollymix powder blush (an all-time fave!). I’ve always wanted a cream blush version of Dollymix… I guess some dreams really do come true! 🙂
All four of the Cremeblend Blushes ($19 each). Don’t be scurred, holmes! They may look bright in their pans, but these creamy blushes, with their dewy finish, go on like transparent washes of color. Wear ’em on bare skin OR above your foundation and/or powder. So purty!
From left to right: Joie-De-Vivre; Optimistic Orange; So Sweet, So Easy and Florida
Pearlmatte Face Powder ($27). MAC artist Michelle called this pan of powder the Lillyland product that would wear best across the board. She suggested swirling the shimmery brown, peach, gold and pink shades together to create a golden brown. BONUS: Should work great as either a blush or a highlighter.
All Ages, All Races, All Sexes: Back in time
Hello, ’90s much? I haven’t worn brown eyeshadow, blush and lipstick together since 1997, but I guess old is new again because I’m DIGGING this range. I think it boasts some great everyday neutrals.
Liqueur Lipglass and Empowered Lipstick (both $14). For an updated version of the brown lip that ruled the ’90s, try a layer of Liqueur Lipglass (a frosty pinkish brown) above Empowered Lipstick (a creamy neutral brown). Then, if you feel an urge to wear a baby T with a spaghetti-strap dress and a little black backpack, I suggest you just go with it. 🙂
From left to right: Lipglass in Liqueur, Lipstick in Empowered
The Beauty Powder Blushes in Personal Style and All’s Good ($19 each). I love easy makeup, and both of these powder blushes hit that spot — great for flushed, easy cheeks. I can see myself putting on either Personal Style (a light mauve taupe) or All’s Good (a deep rose) in the morning for a daytime look with neutral lips and dark eyes.
From left to right: Blush in All’s Good, Blush in Personal Style
Glamour For All Lipglass ($14). This sheer pink with pearly gloss must look good on everyone. The MAC gals called this baby one of the collection’s bestsellers. For a daytime pink lip, try it with MAC Subculture Lip Pencil ($13) and Myself lipstick ($14).
So how was your Thursday? Did you do anything fun? I’m settling down for the night here with a stack of fashion mags on my lap. Gotta find a way out of my jeans and t-shirt rut.
Sleep well! 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I checked out the collections today and I picked up the Florida blush because I am itchy to do a very pretty pink dolly cheek. In my opinion, the cremeblend blushes are the winners in the Lilyland collection along with the Lipgelees. I will go back next week to buy Some Sweet So Easy blush, Preppy l/g and Shift to Pink l/g. Still on the fence with the pigments though from All Ages, All Races and All Sexes.

I’m lemming for Lillyland’s nail polishes, the pink one in particular. The cream blushes are pretty, but my winter skin at the moment doesn’t really like cream blushes.
The All Ages, All Races, All Sexes one kinda bums me out though. The photo kinda makes me want to scream as it doesn’t look like there’s anything that would suit my uber pale English-Scot and German skintone. MAC, the vampiric pale do exist. We would like to be represented.
My Thursday was rather depressing. It’s been snowing ALL DAY. As in, the past 24 hours all day. It just started doing this weird big flakey pseudo-blizzard thing outside and I’m not amused. I. HATE. Snow. Zena and I have taken to burrowing ourselves deep within any blanket we can find. We both aren’t diggin’ it.
How is Tabs-y adjusting to the harness? Is he doing better on it? Or is he still being bratty?
Monica says
If your skin is roughed up from the winter weather please try the new Mineralized all-over lotion! It is great hydration for the skin but absorbs fast so no greasy mess before applying makeup- especially important before applying cremeblend blushes!

I like the all ages, all races, all sexes colours because they’re so neutral and seem so wearable! As much as I LOVE playing around with bright colours, I’m much more likely to actually regularly USE a product if it’s more natural! However, I probably wouldn’t use them ALL at the same time… not quite my style!
Shivotra says
i heart lilyland. i want all the blushes, nailpolishes and the facepowder!! <3

I washed and polished the car today! I know it’s totally ridiculous to be proud/happy of the fact, but I haven’t washed it for 2 years (I used to wash it every month at my boyfriend’s place, but then we broke up… about 2 years ago… haha). So now, it’s clean and sexy. I just have to vacuum out the inside.
On a beauty-related note, I got my NARS duo concealer yesterday, and I can’t wait to try it! Whee!
Ciambella says
…I have to stop wanting Joie-de-vivre. T_T Help! Thanks for the swatches, Karen!

Hi Karen!
Now this comment might be placed on the wrong post but I kinda need help with something.
My question is, how do you get great looking eyebrows in no time?
I mean the rest of the make-up usually takes enough of my time so what I do is that I use a vibrating mascara (since it coats and defines with a fairly thin layer of color) to do my brows.
Now it’s become a lot of hassle with time and am wondering wether to get an eyebrow pencil, tinted brow brush (?) or powders that are applied with the small diagonal brush.
My brows are way too light for my hair(dark brown) and quite thin (result from overplucking in my teens, damn it).
Would be great if you had any advice for this!

I am a huge neutral fan so im pretty sure I will pick up some stuff from the All Sexes… collection. I am loving the Personal Style Beauty Powder Blush and Glamour for All Lipglass. So beautiful.
As for Lilyland I am really, really, really fixated on the Pearlmatte Face Powder – mostly because it is soooo pretty in the pan. But I can also imagine various uses for it – I might even try the brown and gold on my eyelids!!!

I sooo have to have too many of the products from these collections. Heaven help my budget! Through the roof! LOL. Thanks for the reviews and swatches, Karen. 🙂
Deconstruction says
I am definitely interested in the Creme Blushes. It looks similar to a creme blush my mom used to use when I was a kid and she swore was the best blush in the market. That company went out of business and my mom bought up everything she could find, but even that is long gone now.

Thanks for the swatches. I’m lemming the creme blushes, esp Florida and Joie-De-Vivre, they are beautiful.
As for all ages, all races, all sexes, I’m not really interested in anything. I’m not a fun of neutral shades. I find them boring and never know what to do with them.

I scored a couple of eyeshadows (All Races and Showstopper) and 5N and Liquer lipglass. I think that maybe I would like the beauty powders but I’m just figuring out blush after having used NARS Orgasm all my life it’s hard to make a switch into other things! I thought I would hate Lilyland, but ended up with the Lush and Bright Lip Gelee which is super bright and fun.

I am SO overwhelmed (or may just “whelmed” , I’m not sure…..) by all of these collections……Karen I just sent you a message, requesting your help with recommendations.
The Lillyland collection is so bright and cheery…..It just makes me smile!
I am sick with the bleckys today, and tomorrow I have a memorial service to attend….so I’ll be having a great weekend…..NOT!

I know I’m heading to MAC this weekend. OMG. I love the Lillyland stuff. Those colors are so vibrant! I’m a MAC addict so I’m halfway out the door already! Love the Hot Pink blush. LOVE!

Happy Friday!
Ohh, I’ve never used a blush in that color, I’ll have to stop by MAC and try it out. Are the colors different once they’re on?

I love MAC, but they kill me with all these collections 🙁

oh, the 90’s! Don’t forget your doc marten’s with the baby T/spaghetti strap dress combo, LOL. thanks for the coverage and swatches Karen. I like the Lilly eyeshadow pallette the best, which I don’t think you have/swatched?
Anastasia says
yummy… I’m thinking the Glamour for All lipglass looks like my Viva Glam II lippy (my fave interview/go with everything lipstick!)… I may have to try out a lip combo!
As for those cream blushes… I’m still scurred! I am too vampire pale… I think I’d look like Betty Davis in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? !! Veddy scurrey!
Rebecca says
The pearlmatte face powder looks so gorgeous! I don’t know how it would look on my skin though… I’m really pale, and it looks like it might be a little bit harsh on me. Ah well, guess I’ll just have to try it out, which is such a shame since I hate having an excuse to go to a MAC store 😉

I just have to comment on how much I love your writing style… it cracks me up! The comment about the baby tee under a spaghetti strap dress with a mini backpack had me laughing out loud!
Toni says
I like the colors in both collections, but nothing is really calling my name. I really like the color of the Glamour for All lipglass, but I hate MAC lipgloss, because they’re all so sticky (although I have heard the Cremesheen Glass isn’t sticky).
We watched the national championship game last night (Roll Tide #1!) and tried to stay warm. We had snow and ice last night, so the kids were out of school today.
Thanks for showing the pictures and information with us!

i’m so scared to try cream blush because i think it might break me out crazy. i have suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper breakout prone skin, so i’m just not sure. any advice??

OMG. I thought work would NEVER end today. I literally hightailed it as soon as my boss left…pretty sure I almost ran over a woman in the fitness area of Macy’s as I sprinted towards the MAC counter. I am so excited to try out Florida and the eyeshadow pan! Karen, any ideas yet how to work the pink/green/white combo?
kia says
hehe! a little black back pack! the empowered lipstick looks like a hot nude for brown beauties! lillyland face powder felt like love. i had the same sentiments about the creme blushes, they are creme versions of powder blushes that i own.. pick a fafi blush or devil blush =p

I’m guilty of rocking a lil’ black backpack. I wonder where mine went, hmm…
How have you been? It’s been a while!

Can I throw in a hot pink scrunchy or banana clip in with the baby-t and spaghetti strap dress? 😉
I’m tempted to get Liquer, Naked Frost and Empowered. I haven’t done brown lips in years, but I may just pull out Chelsea and top it with Liquer. Got Joie-De-Vivre, 2 of the lipgelees, Coconut Ice Nail Lacquer and All Races eye shadow today though. I don’t want to hurt my wallet too much now 🙂

Ha! I wish I could find my old banana clips! 🙂
How are you liking Joie-De-Vivre?
Christy says
Joie-De-Vivre is gorgeous on. It’s really flattering on my NC35/40 skin. It’s kind of like the NARS Multiple in Orgasm, but without the gold shimmer. It’s also much more pigmented, so a little goes a long way. It sheers out easily though for lightly flushed cheeks. I think I may go back for Florida later this week. HTH 🙂

I just picked up N5 and I love it! I am a darker skinned black girl who has been looking for perfect natural shade for work Its perfect! Its brown with a bit of pink and goes on sheer. It layers well also! I am so excited about this buy that I might return another high level lipstain I bought and pick up a second N5 before they run out!
