  1. I’m really excited for these! Based on online swatches, I think the lipsticks are the winners in this collection. I’m not very interested in MAC nail polishes though as I’ve heard they’re rather poor in quality. :)

  2. Hmmm, I would have to try the MAC nail polish to know if I think the quality is ok. I also love the lipsticks!

    • Karen says:

      Hi Deconstruction,

Some people love the MAC polishes, but I think they’re just okay. They tend to chip on me (my hands take a lot of abuse though).

  3. Marina says:

Love your videos :) As for the collection I really like Frankly Fresh Lipglass and Ever Hip lipstick.

  5. Jasmine says:

Love the video! Youtube seems to load better/faster for me though. Can’t wait for Thursday!!

Karen, which blush do you like best? I’m an NC43 at MAC :)

    • Karen says:

I like ‘em both… but I think I like Prim & Proper *that* much more. A lot of it is a usage issue. I tend to get more mileage out of neutral blushes that are easy to apply, and Prim & Proper delivers that.

Which one are you leaning toward?

      • Jasmine says:

I am leaning toward dirty plum because it is so unique but I agree that neutral blushes go a long way, and I’d love to get more neutral blushes too. Must pick just one though when I see them in person, as I need to stock up on prep and prime powder, an eyeshadow palette and blanc type and tete-a-tint eyeshadows :)

      • Karen says:

Speaking of Prep + Prime Powder, I have been really loving it lately. :) I’ve had it for a while but sorta forgot that it was in my stash… I’ve been wearing it for the past few days, and now I remember why I feel in love with it in the first place!

Anyhoo, if you’re feeling the Dirty Plum more then I say GO FOR IT!

  6. Sabrina says:

What a fun video! Very cute :) I’m picking up my order today and I can’t wait for it.

  7. Anastasia says:

Love that lippy on you… may have to try it. Liberty’s was always one of my fave shops when living in London. I may have to shell out for the scarf. Would love the blue nail varnish but was sooo disappointed in the last two I bought from MAC – such poor quality. I vowed never to buy them from MAC again unless they reformulated.

  8. Anna says:

The shell beauty powder looks sooo pretty. Ooohhh.

  9. gio says:

Love the video! I love the packaging of this collection, it’s so pretty! But that’s not enough for me to justify buying anything as none of the shade really appeal to me :(

  10. NINA says:

Totally stoked — im wanting 2 of the 4 blushes in the collection … the packaging is so pretty!

The lipstick looks great on you, Karen! :-)

  11. NINA says:

ps – The makeup bag is very, very intriguing. At least to me. :D

  12. Christina says:

    Hey Karen!

I love these videos youre doing!

You are so professional and gorgeous! Why arent you on TV?! or… are you?
hmm haha you look so professional and you give great advice!

I cant remember.. but are you in med school?

    • Karen says:

      Hey Christina!

LOL, I’m not on TV… I suppose my doppelganger in a parallel universe is though. Sometimes I feel like I may have missed my calling!

As for med school, nope. Blood freaks me out!

  13. Janet says:

I’m loving these videos, Karen! You’re so charismatic, it makes the vids very refreshing to watch :)

The shell beauty powder looks gorgeeee *swoon*

  14. diane says:

Hy, thanks for the vid, it’s the first time when I hear your voice, you’re so sweet!!!!

    have a fun evening!

    kiss
    .-= diane’s last blog post… A day in the park =-.

    • Karen says:

Aww, thanks. Sometimes I can’t believe that’s my voice… it’s not exactly how I picture it, ha ha.

You have a great evening too!

      • Petra says:

I hear my voice a lot deeper, and much more sophisticated – and when i hear it back from somewhere, it’s like this whiny little girl, lol. :)
It was a first for me too, to hear You. You are a lot perkier in sound than I imagined – although I should’ve known based on all those fun quirky dancing photos. :)
It’s really refreshing to see and hear someone so energetic and cute!
And, well, You’ll always hold a special place in my heart – crazy cat ladies have to stick together. :)

        Petra
(btw, last night I had dreamt about Hawaii, and i’m sure it was because of your recent gorgeous photos!)

  15. Marce says:

LOL I loved this video! I can’t wait for this collection! I’ve already made a list and everything, I can’t wait! :D:D
    .-= Marce’s last blog post… Look – Through the Looking Glass =-.

    • Karen says:

      Hi Marce,

What’s on your list? I hope Shell Pearl Beauty Powder is on there!

      • Marce says:

Oh yes it is! I hope it goes well with my combo skin though…I’m thinking of getting Ever Hip, Perennial High Style, and I’m still undecided on Prim & Proper and the eyeshadows. What do you think? Birds & Berries looks so pretty! I think I might just add that, too :D
Oh and Peacocks and Petals (what’s with the long names in this collection?) looks gorgeous on you! It’s hella bright, like high-lighter pink!
        .-= Marce’s last blog post… Look – Through the Looking Glass =-.

  16. Kate says:

I have been waiting and wanting this collection for so long! I did a major online haul this morning. The hardest thing was deciding what to leave out, because I couldn’t get it ALL.

    • Karen says:

Ooh, what did you end up getting? Share, share!

      • Kate says:

Liberty of London and Free to Be e/s, Ever Hip and Blooming Lovely l/s, PHS l/g, PP blush (really wanted DP, but was worried it would be too dark on me), both nail polishes and the small bag. I might cave and get the other blush if it doesn’t sell out.

      • Karen says:

Cute! I really like the bag.

You’re probably right re the DP blush… it’s dark on me, too ( I have to use a very light touch and a fan brush).

  17. Gummy says:

    Hi Karen!

Loved the video! It was so fun to watch! And Ever Hip lipstick looks so good! I can’t pull off Petals and Peacocks, but I think YOU did really well! ^_^

And the packaging…I would buy it alone for the packaging…I’m a sucker for birds! In fact, we just had a baby (she’s almost 2 months!) and her name is Aiva (“ay-vah”)…Latin for bird…^_~

    • Karen says:

      Hi Gummy,

I’m wearing Ever Hip today (will do a FOTD soon), and I gotta say that it’s also a winner. :)

Congrats on your baby girl! I love her name… it’s so beautiful, and the fact that it holds a special meaning makes it all the more special!

      • Gummy says:

Thank you! I made up the name, ha ha…didn’t hear it anywhere either. Actually, I was thinking of the name Aida (“ayeedah”) but didn’t like the sharp sound of the “d” in it, and played with different letters till “v” came up…I liked it as Ay-vah and not Ay-ee-vah, and it seemed prettier than just plain A-v-a. ^_^ So Aiva it is! =)

Oh yay! I get to see Ever Hip! Can’t wait! Have a great Tuesday!

    • Petra says:

      Hi Gummy!

I learned Latin and was thinking, Aiva, bird, really…? Then I looked it up and i saw that it derives from Avis – all made sense, suddenly. Never heard that name before, it’s gorgeous! And congratulations. :)

  18. Jenn says:

are you on youtube Karen? I would definitely subscribe :)

  19. Kate & Zena says:

It must seem sound weird to you to hear your voice. I remember when I was in high school and we had to do a video project thing in French class, I remember watching my video and not believing my voice was that high. I’ve always had a soprano voice, but it sounded so WEIRD. I knew it was going to be hard hearing me as I’m naturally quiet but the fact it was so high was bizarre. Your voice sounds so much lower in your own ears.

    • Gummy says:

Oh yeah! I agree about how weird it is to hear your own voice. I’m a teacher, but during my student teaching years, we had to record a few lessons we did, and I sounded like a little girl! I still do. =P But I do have a “teacher voice” and utilize it when needed. =) But all in all, I do love teaching – it’s so much fun!

    • Karen says:

Totally weird! In my mind my voice is deeper and much more refined… then again, in my mind I’m also 5’6 instead of 5’1, ha ha ha!!

Oh, and I’m sorry Zena went to town on your brushes! :(

      • Kate & Zena says:

Mine sounds lower too, almost alto-like, in my own ears. Then you hear your own voice and you’re stuck thinking, “Oh my God, do I actually sound that way?” and you go around asking all your friends if your voice is really as high as it is in the video.

Oh yea, I’m still bitter about that. My dad laughed hysterically…until he saw the price he was paying for new ones (to the tune of $80, ha ha ha). Revenge is sweet. I should have the damage on Facebook in about twenty minutes just so I can forever document the evidence and remind myself why I shouldn’t dry them on the table! I still can’t believe she did that!

  20. Nicole O. says:

I am so in love with the lipsticks! Especially Petals & Peacocks & Blooming Lovely. They’re super gorgeous!

I’m really contemplating about purchasing those as my 1st MAC lipsticks. Aiiiiiiyeeeeee! :d

  21. Jackie says:

Thank you so much for this video! And for wearing Petals and Peacocks lipstick!!!! I was going to pass based on all the swatches I’ve seen, but after seeing it on you I’m sold! lol Thanks again!

  22. Rica says:

I almost went to the MAC store today but I didn’t… ’cause I don’t think it’s gonna be out yet, at the store. I’m just gonna wait till tomorrow and call up my local counter and see if they’re there yet. But this collection is gorgeous. I’m pretty sure I’m getting Ever Hip lipstick using B2M >0<, and Bough Grey e/s. Others I'll need to check out in person. I just can't wait!

  23. Stef says:

What a great video! You’re a good spokesperson/saleswoman because I already bought WAY too much from this collection and you make me want to go back and buy everything I didn’t get! (I think it’s the way you sing “super cute limited edition packaging”!)

What did I get, you ask?
e/s: birds and berries, bough grey (birds and berries had me at ‘allo!)
beauty powder: shell pearl (everyone, run! Go buy now.)
lipstick: peachstock and ever hip (love, love, love, and their my jams-nude and coral!)
l/g: english accent (so not my color, so don’t care, it’s just too lovely.)

Tooooooooo cute!!! I love the vid!!!

  26. Meg says:

I spy your leopard earrings looking fabulous! Can’t believe this collection will be out Thursday! I love the BP in Shell Pearl but that’s all that I can allow myself to buy. I figure it’s a good bang for the buck since it has the adorable compact plus a highlighter that will be so fab now and even better when I get a tan! I also think it can double as a gorgeous shimmery neutral eyeshadow :)

  27. crystal says:

Those eyeshadows look amazing! The packaging is really cute too.thanks for the pics :)

  28. marisa says:

i just swatched and pre-ordered today!!!!! so excited!

i got ever hip, blooming lovely, not petals and peacocks because i have gladiola, perennial high style (2 of them cuz they are GORGEOUS esp over ever hip!), english accents, and summer rose.

    yayyyyy can’t wait til thursday!

  29. The dark teal green is going to look great on so many eye colors~ When I see the plethora of purples for the eye, I instantly get jealous of my brown-eyed friends who rock them easily- with these baby blues, I have to work to get the purples right. Love the creamy pink lipglosses too!

  30. Monique says:

Loved the video! I really like the birds and berries! :o)

A little off topic. But I really like your side braid hairstyle! You should give us a little video on how you did that! ;)
