Hell-to-the-Yah! #1: Uppity Fluidline from the MAC Antiquitease Limited Edition Collection
Everyone and their mamma is buzzing about the Antiquitease release, and for good reason. It’s sparkly. It’s pretty. And it reminds me of the Solid Gold Dancers.
Even though I’ve been hopelessly devoted to Blacktrack for the last three months, I find myself jonsing for the gold colored Fluidline, Uppity (yellow gold with gold pearl). Why do I need gold eyeliner? Where will I wear gold eyeliner? These questions are irrelevant. I can’t wait to dip my 209 into this. I think that it just might be better than eating a dozen hot, fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Maybe.
Hell-to-Yah! #2: Mission: KIMMORA LEE SIMMONS
I see dead people … okay not really. I see fried chicken. And Kimora Lee Simmons.
The other night I got about 2.5 seconds of sleep because I had a burst of creative energy between 11:00 and 3:00 am. I usually have fleeting creative moments in the shower or when I’m brushing my teeth (weird, I know), so when it comes on full blast I cannot deny its siren call.
At 2:15, just as I was in the middle of brainstorming story ideas, I hallucinated a plate of Kentucky Fried Chicken, complete the with biscuits, mashed potatoes and gravy and that weird but tasty sweet corn. Then I had a very clear, very precise revelation:
Someday, somehow I am going to meet KIMORA LEE SIMMONS. And I’m going to interview her.
I’ve caught a few episodes of her show, Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane this past week and for some reason I just think she’s kinda cool.
Sure she makes unrealistic demands on her people and seems to always be on the verge of bitching someone out. But I see her as having vision and not settling for less. And have you seen her closet? I’d consider giving up my firstborn up for the shoes and Louis Vuitton luggage alone.
I don’t know when it’s going to happen or how I’m going to do it but this is now one of my missions in life.
Kimora, watch out, girl! One of these days we’ll be talkin’ shop!
Hell-to-the-Yah! #3: Brown Round Toe Boots by Rebels
After searching high and low, I finally found a pair of boots that truly move my soul. I saw these brown Rebel boots on Zappos and I knew from the first glance that they were the boots for me…sigh! Whether or not they are practical in the rain remains to be determined. But who cares, they’re hot. I love you Zappos!
Hell-to-the-Yah #4: Halloween!
Out of the fall holiday trifecta (Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas) my favorite of the bunch is Halloween. It’s fun, non-denominational and of course, there is the gorging of the candy. Mmmm, Snickers.
This year I’m going to dress up as the hot mess chanteuse known as Amy Winehouse. I’ve got the beehive hair and cat eye covered but the tattoos, well…that’s an issue where I’m still working out. Hopefully I’ll find a bunch of cool temporary ones at the Halloween store this weekend.
Are you dressing up this year? What’s your costume?
Hell-to-the-Yah #5: Feeding My Inner Beast O’ Laziness … with Anti-bacterial Wet Ones
The fab makeup artist to the stars and Billy B. gave me my newest favorite makeup tip. When he’s working on several clients he’ll wipe his brushes between gigs with Anti-Bacterial Wet Ones wipes, which clean and disinfect brushes quickly and thoroughly and don’t leave a weird film on the brush heads.
And holy effing crap! These wipes are like gold for cleaning your brushes. If you don’t always have the time to do a thorough brush cleaning at the sink (or if you’ve got lazy beast tendencies like your truly) then these will save you from a life of dirty birdy brushes.
Woo hoo! We made it! Sometimes I think that we should all get an award for just making it to Friday without losing our minds. Now if only that reward involved copious amounts of Chanel …
Have a fantastic weekend! Drive safe in this rain, okay?

How bad is the rain up there, Karen? It’s dry as a bone down here!
I’ll have to try out the Wet Ones tip!
Karen says
Hey girl,
Now it’s subsided. Earlier it wasn’t pouring but it was sorta dark and very misty.
Yah! I am a freak about keeping my brushes clean and I think this will make it easier on days I don’t want to do a heavy duty cleaning.
How was your day?
Christine says
I hope it gets better. Yuck, I hate driving up through the rain! I remember last winter when it was just AWFUL!
I usually just wash mine in baby shampoo, and these days I apply makeup so infrequently, so it doesn’t seem to be a big deal to wash, ha.
Mine was okay! Hung out with my mom for a bit, saw my old high school English teacher (my sister has her now). Yours?

I got myself 2 pairs of boots at DSW! I love boots, but here in Los Angeles, it hasn’t been cold enough to sport them…maybe I need to make my way to the bay! haha and yes I would love to organize your closet haha, I love tidying up and organizing things, but in my room it never lasts because I just get lazy…we need Kimora’s crew…
Karen says
That’s cute that you keep in touch with your teachers. I wish I made more of an effort to stay in touch with mine from HS.
I tried the baby shampoo wash but it takes forever for the soap to rinse out, even if I really dilute it. I have no patience, sigh!
Karen says
Yeah we do! I want to borrow Kimora’s assistant(s) and her stylist so they can dress me and style me every day. That would take my laziness to new heights, imagine.
I love DSW but the nearest one is in the SF. It’s huge, like 2-3 floors!

Karen, I’m so glad you found a pair of rockin’ boots! When I went boot shopping the other day, I actually decided to get pedi first and when it was all done and over with, I had those weird toe separaters on and was sporting those flimsy foam slippers. I just couldn’t bring myself to walk into Nordie’s looking like a crazy woman!
I was watching Kimora last night and as much as I really, REALLY hated her in the past, God help me, I’m actually starting to like her a little bit because she IS fabulous! But can her new assistant, Mallory, be any more scary with her smiling all the time?
Hope you’re having a great sunny (yay!) day! 🙂

I was just catching up on the blog. I travelled last week and had meetings every day and was MIA. I just have to say that I love your blog. I am totally getting some babywipes…you and I might have to compete to find out who is actually lazier! 😉 Anyway I went to a Halloween party this weekend, and I went as Betty Boop. I had gotten this red dress on clearance because I love it…although I didn’t really have any plans for it. I have naturally curly hair, and it’s cut short…so it was an east choice. The best part…everyone loved my makeup! I found some funky fake lashes and rocked the red lips. Fun Fun Fun. If you go to the website linked, you can see a picture of me as Betty Boop…unfortunately it was after the party…and a number of drinks…but the make up still looks pretty good. 🙂
Karen says
Hey Lilan,
I got my boots yesterday and they are too small, boo 🙁 Back to Zappos they go…
And I highly recommend going to Nordie’s looking like a crazy person! It’s fun, trust me!
Karen says
Megan!
You have the perfect hair for Betty Boop! Your pic is totally cute!
And I dunno, girl, I’m pretty lazy. You’d have to really be lazy to beat me at that game.
BTW, I was just talking to a friend on Friday about the trials and tribulations of being a curly haired gal. Have you heard of Lorraine Massey?
Megan says
Thanks…and yeah I think I’m pretty lazy. 🙂
I have not heard of Lorraine Massey.
Karen says
OMG…I’ll have to do a post then on her, ASAP.
Question for ya – what products do you use on your curly hair?
nilla cookie says
I don’t know if I can walk around Nordie’s with yellow foam slippers. I’m sending you a pic via email just to show you how crazy it would have been.
Boo.. I hate having to return stuff after all the excitement I build up waiting for the darn mail to come in the first place!
Megan says
I am pretty lucky in that my curly hair is fine in texture and really only gets frizzy and flyaway when it’s humid…unfortunately it’s humid around here from spring to fall…frizz fighting products tend to weigh it down. I typically can’t use pomades or serums, because it just ends up greasy and flat. Recently I have been using Garnier Fructis Curl and Shine cream which works really well at keeping away the frizzies away without weighing it down…the only thing is I have to be careful not to get it on the back of my neck too much because then it breaks out the back of my neck…what we do for beauty right? :-)I also use biolage gel – but primarily on the front because I can’t stand for my hair to be in face throughout the day. I also use Paul Mitchell Hairspray. I wash my hair every day and condition it every day with moisturizing shampoo and conditioner – the brand varies. Once a week I use a clarifying shampoo and then a conditioning mask that I leave on for like two minutes. The other thing to say is that being that I have short hair I very very rarely heat style. I wash it, condition it, use a hairpick to get the tangles out, a comb to part it, then I put in product and go. So I don’t really get the same damage that a lot of curly girls get. Wow…and I thought my hair was so simple… but that was a lot of writing for a simple routine.
Karen says
Us curly/wavy haired ladies definitely have our work cut out for us! I always like to ask what products curlies use because there seems to be no one set method to controlling the curl madness.
I very rarely heat style, too. Part of it is laziness, part of it is that daily blow-drying really damages my hair. I still like a nice blowout here and there, but I don’t do it every day like I used to!
Karen says
C’mon! You can make those foam slippers work for you if you BROUGHT IT!
Just kidding. I’ve actually show up at Nordstrom several times without any makeup at all. Now that was scary.
