Don’t tell Tabs (shh!), but I managed to sneak in a little pre-weekend playtime at lunch today (my original plan was to hit up the Whole Foods salad bar, but I fed a different hunger instead) with more devious delectables from the upcoming MAC Venomous Villains collection.
I thought it might be fun to take Magically Cool Liquid Powder in Cajun out for a spin, so I grabbed it and a few other goodies from Dr. Facilier’s color story and put them to work.
Clockwise from lower left: Pigment in Melon, Pigment in Push the Edge, Lipgelee in Resort Life, Greasepaint Stick in French Quarter, Magically Cool Liquid Powder in Cajun
I really liked yesterday’s smokey look, but I had to run a couple of errands this afternoon, so I aimed for something a little daytime friendlier this time around, with a purple, brown and peachy golden eye partnered with bronze cheeks and peachy pink lips. 🙂
I did my eyes first, drawing a thick line along my lids with the shimmery brownish black Greasepaint Stick in French Quarter. After smoothing out the edge with a finger, I layered shimmery peachy gold Pigment in Melon on top, drawing it into the crease.
But since every girl needs some color in her life, I added matte purple Pigment in Push the Edge at the outer corners and along my lower lash line, finally tying the eyes together with liner along both my upper and lower waterlines using MAC Technakohl Liner in Brownboarder.
That’s about the time I noticed that my lunch was almost over, so I sped through my cheeks and lips, keeping them super simple. I applied shimmery bronze Magically Cool Liquid Powder in Cajun on the apples of my cheeks, and shimmery peach Cremestick Pearl Liner in Gingerroot, topped with shimmery peachy beige Lipgelee in Resort Life, on mah lips.
A few notes on the products…
- Magically Cool Liquid Powder in Cajun: I love how fine this is (like baby powder) and how it practically melts into my skin. But if I had to choose between Cajun and Truth & Light (they’re like sisters!), I think I’d go with Truth & Light; Cajun’s just a little too orange for me and not as flexible (just a bronzer).
- Greasepaint Stick in French Quarter: This creamy multi-use stick ended up looking cooler (toned) then I expected. If you wear cool browns well, you might really like this French Quarter on your skin.
- Lip Gelee in Resort Life ALERT! ALERT! GLITTER OVERLOAD! I rub my lips together a lot, and I’m guessing that’s why so much of the glitter in this lipgloss ends up on my chin, nose and cheeks, yikes!
This look isn’t as flashy as yesterday’s, but I still like how it turned out. I guess I was in the mood for purple at lunch!
What about your makeup today? Whatdja wear? Something subtle, or did ya go bright and bold? 🙂
In other news, did you peep the new MAC Pro Long Wear collections that arrived on counters today?
Happy almost-Friday, cutie pie! I hope you’re ready for the weekend.
I’m looking forward to a little downtime. I feel like I need to spend a few hours vegetating in front of the television.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Fab look! I thought I was going to just get the mineral shadows from this collection, but that greasepaint stick looks amazing!
Going to hit up Macy’s tomorrow and check out the Pro Longwear stuff and probably pick up a couple of the eyeliners from the Fabulous Felines collection. Oh, and Estee Lauder is doing a gift with purchase….. yup, I think I’ll be spending a good chunk of time there tomorrow!
As for todays makeup, I used volume 2 of the $10 Stila palettes. Fabulous coppers and browns in the shadows.
Karen says
Have fun hauling! Let me know what liners you end up getting from Fabulous Felines!
Heidi says
Well, they had two colors left — Signature Blue and Defiantly Feline. I got the first because I love to use a navy liner (navy is my usual neutral that I pair with other colors) and the second because it looks beautiful and clearly the color was named after Missy!

As usual, just some MUFE HD, mascara and gloss for me today. I think I’m getting in a makeup rut. 😛

Sometimes you gotta keep it simple, ya know?

I am so curious to try that powder!
I have been wearing the new Pro Longwear Foundation for about a week now and I LOVE it! Long lasting, blendable, great coverage, and looks soooo natural! The concealer is pretty good too! There is a complete review on my site…just click on the link below….
Karen says
I’m not a huge fan of MAC’s foundation, but I’ll probably try the concealer just for kicks.

I said I wasnt gonna let myself be swayed by the hype but … OMG @ that magically cool powder. So nifty!
I love the look … I already have Melon and ive been trying to use more pigments … I want Push the Edge! 😀
Karen says
It’s neat… you can actually feel the cooling sensation on your skin! It doesn’t last long though.
Nina says
my list has been revised and re revised countless of times !!! 😀
Appu says
This look is fabulous Karen! Although, I expected something more than just glitters from the Lipgelee 🙁
Karen says
I really like the texture of the Lipgelees… they’re a little less sticky than the Lipglasses. This one just happens to have TONS of glitter though.
Amber says
I like what you did with the purple!
Really, really like the lips but I can’t deal with misbehaving glitter. I’ve given up on using UD’s Sidecar shadow because it’s such a glitterbomb.
Karen says
It was seriously all over the place. I’m still not quite sure how it ended up on my nose, ha ha!

Karen!… you lucky lucky girlie! I’m totally lovin’ the Cajun powder right now (at least just from sight, because I can’t wait to get ma’ hands on it ) 🙂
*the countdown has began to Sept 30th lol!
Eeesh todays make up is my fave face… 50’s inspired winged liner *made possible by MAC’s black track fluidline , curled lashes coated with my beauty staple MAC’s Zoom Lash … with a little mix of MAC’s blushes in hot planet and honesty <— never thought of those 2 together but they work wonders for my cheek bones 😉
**BTW…. I for the first time yesterday I watched one of your YouTube videos (*angels singing) lol! I loved it! and super good recommendation on Dermalogica's mosturizer it feels super light!
Betty says
AHHH!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this look on you deary <3

That’s a great daytime look! Like Gio, I really like the touch of purple. 🙂
Same old, same old for me. Mascara and liner with some shadow patted on top (top lash line only for the liner/shadow). Luckily it’s minimal, since I was just rubbing the inner corner of my itchy eye! Oops.
Anastasia says
The purple looks great but you sucked me in with the Greasestick… I am SO addicted to them, and now it appears I must have this one too moo hoo ha ha ha ha.
Thanks for the great LOTD! Happy Frrriiiiday!
Yanna says
you just know how to make my day! gorgeous look!
The makeup I’m wearing today is goldenbrown on the eyes with sunkissed cheeks and a subtle golden lipgloss on the lips..just because I’m missing the sunshine here in Belgium

Cute look. I like how the eyes and lip colors goes nice together. Especially the pop of color on the corner.
Kapua says
how do you apply the cool powder? and do you recommend this for the people who have similar types of skin color as you? and how do you apply your eye shadows?
Amanda says
I’m loving this look! I hope to pick up the truth and light powder along with french quarter because you make both look so lovely! Did you use a powder brush to apply cajun? DId you use it over your foundation/powder?
Karen says
Hi Amanda,
Thanks, hon!
I used a skunk brush to apply Cajun on top of foundation and powder. 🙂
