Well clutch mah pearls! Did I read that right? Was I just invited to a Veluxe a Trois? *fans self* Oh, my heavens! I’m not exactly sure what a party like that entails…but if the MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadows will be there, I’m in! — as long as I don’t have to take off my cat tee shirt and stretchy pants, of course.
MAC Veluxe a Trois. Um…why does this collection’s name sound like the title of a dirty movie?
Or is that just me?
It’s probably just me…
Never mind! 🙂
In the opinion of this one cat-obsessed makeup fiend, the MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion eyeshadow formula is one of the MOST underrated MAC formulas of them all, and soon (August 13), when the new MAC Veluxe a Trois collection arrives, there will be six new trios with the Veluxe Pearlfusion formula.
Boom. There, I said. One of the most underrated MAC formulas of them all.
HEADS UP! The Veluxe a Trois collection launched early at Hudson’s Bay and is currently, as of right now, available online.
Have you played with the Veluxe Pearlfusions before? Easy to blend and very forgiving of fine lines, they’re super finely-milled powder eyeshadows so silky that they feel almost like creams, and even if you can’t work a tapered blending brush for sh*t — I’m serious — with the Veluxe Pearlfusions, you’ll feel completely competent.
I wish they would get more love because I think they’re absolutely fantastic gems in the MAC line.
The limited edition Veluxe a Trois collection features six $25 Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow trios (along with some other products)…
- Claretluxe — a light pearly pink with a clean burgundy pinkish red and a purple
- Collective Chic — a peachy champagne with a green khaki and a plummy brown
- Cool Companions — a light gold with a green and shimmery satiny black
- Fabulous Three — a champagne beige with a rosy pink and a burgundy (online only)
- Gingerluxe — a tangerine with a yellowish gold and a deep, sparkly khaki (online only)
- Lapisluxe — a white sparkle with a sparkly ocean blue and a deep grayish navy
In these pics I’m wearing the Fabulous Three trio, and dude! — they made this eye look easier than taking candy from a freakin’ baby (which, incidentally, would be a terrible thing to do). You’ll be able to buff and smooth these shades in your sleep.
Although the Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadows are the star attractions in the Veluxe a Trois collection, the release also includes Lipsticks ($16 each), Cremesheen Glasses ($20 each), a couple of mascaras and a brush.
I’ll be posting more reviews and looks wearing the collection as I get more familiar with the products over the coming days, but among the lipsticks are nude beige Cremesheen Lipstick in How Tropical, malty warm nude Cremesheen Lipstick in Pillow Talk, warm brown Amplified Lipstick in Royally Riotous, reddish pink Cremsheen Lipstick in Flowerscope, deep purplish berry Cremesheen Lipstick in Quelle Surprise and berry Cremesheen Lipstick Heux.
And the Cremesheen Glasses include soft beige Softly Lit, soft taupe-ish nude You’ve Got It, nude tangerine Over Indulgence, wine brown Richly Revered and black Dark Outsider.
Two mascaras, Haute & Naughty Too Black Lash and Haute & Naughty Waterproof Lash ($22 each), join the 247 Flat Shader Brush ($25) to round out the collection.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I do love MAC eye shadows, but there is something about the way that these palette’s are packaged. I refer my shadows in either a circle or a fatter rectangle – if that makes sense. However, these are lovely little palette’s with some beautiful shades.
Best wishes,
Vanessa

For some unknown reason I want gingerlux…which one is your favorite?
India says
Haha I’m living for that gif! P.S. Where did you get your shirt from, I NEED IT, lol!!

Jenny says
Forget these eyeshadows, can we just talk about how FLAWLESS you look here? Like, HOW IS YOUR SKIN SO PERFECT. Your secrets, I need them.
Trude says
I second Jenny’s question! Are you doing the CC/concealer mix here? So pretty! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Trude,
Yup, I did! I used a bunch of different things, which I listed below. Let me know if you have any questions. I’m happy to help.
P.S. “Buy Pixi Glow Tonic” is on my list of things to do this weekend. lol
Karen says
Hi Jenny and Trude,
This was one of those “it takes a village” moments. I was feeling a little tired and my skin’s been fussy so I did some extra tweaks. Ok, here we go, step by step *takes deep breath*
1. A few sprays of MAC Fix+
2. Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré all over the face for moisture
3. Bobbi Brown Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm for some moisture and glow
4. Make Up For Ever Base Smoothing Primer
5. MAC Lightful C Tinted Cream mixed with Select Cover Up — I did this in two thing layers. I applied one layer, then buffed it down. Then I repeated it on the areas where I like extra coverage, which is on my cheeks, around my nose and mouth, and along the jaw.
6. YSL Touche Eclat — underneath the eyes in a triangle shape, down the bridge of the nose, in the center of the forehead, around my smile lines, and on the chin. I blended this in with a BeautyBlender which I damped with water and then spritzed with MAC Fix+
7. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish lightly buffed in with a powder brush
8. A few sprays of MAC Fix+
It’s intense, I know. But I think it photographs pretty well.
Pamela says
Aaaahhhh you’re such a MAC enabler!!
Heading to Hudsons Bay MAC counter after work haha 🙂
Angela Bonanza says
Fabulous 3 looks great on you!! I definitely want to try these out in store – they look gorgeous and intense, and it sounds like they’re a dream to use. Also, you are definitely the queen of blog post titles 🙂
Lulle says
I still haven’t tried this formula, can you believe that? I think the fact that they’re all shimmery is what has stopped me. I like myself a good old matte in palettes/trios, and I feel shy when all the shades have shimmer. They look fantastic on you though!
gio says
I don’t remember the last time I was interested in something from MAC, but that Claretluxe palette is calling my name. The colours are gorgeous!
Allison C says
MAC is really underrepresented in my stash. These palettes look so pretty, but they may be just a tad shimmery for my old eyes, lol. They look gorge on you! Have fun at the party, and hope you wear those pearls!!
LindaLibraLoca says
Anyone saying this has never actually tried taking candy from a baby. This definitely isnt easy.
Rachel R. says
These look much better than I was expecting, based on past Veluxe palettes. I like the colors a lot.
Judy says
Your skin in the picture is looking so flawless! What skincare line are you using and what foundation & finishing powder are you using? Looking forward to hearing from you.

Karen says
Hi Judy,
Thanks friend! Right now I use a bunch of different things from Clarins, Sunday Riley, Neutrogena, Murad, Estee Lauder, Clinique… Is there a specific product rec you’re looking for? I have dry/oil combination skin that’s prone to breakouts, for reference.
So, for this pic, I ended up using several products. My skin’s been kind of cranky lately (really, really dry), and I was feeling tired, so I did a bunch of extra steps. Here’s the list from start to finish. I know it’s a lot, but it’s mostly for pics. To go the grocery store I wouldn’t do everything listed here, LOL!
8. A few more sprays of MAC Fix+ all over the face

Thank you for your quick reply! Your face is so flawless that I kept looking at your picture! Love reading your articles but girl every time you post something new I end up checking & want the same . We are the same tone in foundation & I’m also Filipino but grew up here in Toronto. What shade did you use for the Mac skinfinish?
As for the eyeshadow you have on, it just doesn’t look like what it shows on the picture.
Thanks again for the info & once again this had to be your best!
Laura says
So chic! Like others, my concern is with the design of the palettes- I love a fatty square or rectangle where my brushes can roam free (or, more accurately, I can hit at 5am, half asleep). The shades look lovely though.
PS- I’m the same Laura who has been trying to reply to your email, Karen! I’ve been having issues with my email- did you happen to get either reply to the previous contest?
Karen says
Hi Lauren,
Just sent you an email. 🙂
Kwmechelle says
YOU LOOK STUNNING! Of course the one I’m drawn to, Gingerluxe, would be online only. Lapisluxe is def a close second. I don’t think I’ve ever paid attention to these shadows before. But when you mentioned that it’s one of their best formulas and that they’re highly underrated, my ears perk up a bit. I hope to swatch one (or two) of them in store to get a feel for them. 🙂
Karen says
Thanks friend! When you go to the store check out Browluxe. By far it’s the one I wear the most. 🙂
Happy Friday, by the way! What are you doing this weekend?
Kwmechelle says
Totes gonna try out Browluxe. Any makeup advice you hand out is like the Gospel in my book. I’m actually taking a little mini retreat. A couple of my friends are outta town for the week so I’ve been “house sitting” and using this as my mini retreat. It’s going AWESOME!! If I buy the Browluxe, I’ll let you know. Have a terrific night, dude ☺️
Karen says
Oooh, I hope they have AC! (Side note: Believe it or not we had the heater on today. Northern California got a weird cold snap and it even rained last night.) Is the neighborhood nice? One thing I enjoy about house sitting is exploring the surrounding neighborhood.
Tonight El Hub and I are going to the movies; we got a gift certificate as a gift for our anniversary. 🙂
Have fun retreating and treating yourself tonight!
Kwmechelle says
It’s a lovely home in a great neighborhood. And you just gave me an idea about checking out the neighborhood. Best thing- THEY HAVE AC!!!! Our’s isn’t slated to get fixed until Monday. Cannot believe you had your heater on. That’s crazy to this southern born makeup maven. Enjoy date night with your hubby! I actually wanna see The Minions! And I may take myself to the movies to see it this weekend (and try a fun eye look that I saw Sam of Pixie Woo create). Wish me luck. ☺️
Karen says
Yeah, that’s the best part! If there’s shops around you can pretend to be a local for a day. Or if it’s mostly residential, it’s fun to see what the other houses look like. I like to look at gardens. 🙂 And sometimes I like to imagine who lives in each house.
I wanna see your Minions look when you do it!!
Kwmechelle says
Deal!! I’ll send you a pic if I get brave enough to wear it out. Tehehehehe =)
Karen says
This is the perfect time to try it! The neighbors will get to admire your skillz!
Kwmechelle says
Tehehehehe, you’re right! I never even thought about that. And if I scare the neighbors, it won’t matter because I don’t live here. Perfect! Stay tuned….
Kecia S. says
Claret Luxe is calling my name! And it’s not just you with the name. I also think it sounds luxuriously naughty, but it works. LOL!
Karen says
I like that one, Kecia! The coppery red shade in the middle is very pretty, especially when it’s applied with a wet brush.
I hope that you had a nice Friday. What’s the plan for the weekend?
Kecia S. says
Hi Karen!
I worked from home for FAR too many hours today, so now I’m kicking back, watching TV & sipping some delicious wine. I believe I’ve earned it! My dental appt for tomorrow had been rescheduled for next weekend, so I don’t have to set the alarm…YAY! I might head to Nordstrom for the Anniversary Sale Early Access. I’m in a coral lipstick mood & a few have caught my eye.
Karen says
Seriously, YAY! Not having to set the alarm is one of the things I love best about the weekend. 🙂
Have fun at the sale tomorrow. I’ve been eyeing a few things too, but I need to start saving for fall. *sniffs*
Oh, and if you find any killer corals please let me know. There’s always room in my heart (and my makeup bag) for another coral lipstick.
Kecia S. says
I absolutely LOVE the color Have Paris by Lipstick Queen, but I hear the formula isn’t so great. For $50 it should be fabulous! It turns out that the Dior Addict Fluid Stick in #753 Open Me (which I own & ADORE) is a close color dupe, although the formula is different. YSL Glossy Stain in #12 Corail Fauve swatches beautifully, so I’m sure that will find its way into my stash very soon. I also have my eye on a few others (Maybelline & Laura Geller), so I’ll be sure to let you know what happens!
Karen says
The Dior Fluid Sticks are so good! I don’t have that shade or the YSL Glossy Stain, so I’m adding both to my wish list, which is seriously about a mile long. lol. A girl can’t have enough corals, though!
Kecia S. says
I have so many Glossy Stains that I’ve lost count, but I know it’s more than 10! My favorites are #14 Fuchsia Dore & Rose Baby Doll. RBD was limited edition, so I HAD to buy a backup. I found a DAFS at Strawberry Net that was never released here. It’s #872 Mona Lisette & it’s GORGEOUS. Hooray for the Internet! I also have a neverending list of products, so you’re in perfect company.
Kiss & Make-up says
Collective Chic looks nice.
judy says
what colour / shade did you use for YSL Touche Eclat?
makeupbykifana says
Hi Karen, have you tried the lippies from this collection? More specifically the Creamsheen Heaux? I just ordered it knowing it won’t be like the o.g Retro Matte one but I just had to, lol.
