MAC Unsung Heroes: Uniform Technakohl Liner

MAC Uniform Technakohl Liner

The day’s barely half over, and I’m already on my fifth cup of Pukka Love Tea.

I kid you not, it’s been one of those days… I’m fussy, can’t seem to focus and haven’t showered since last night, so my scalp has enough grease in it to fry a dozen eggs. Plus, I feel like a sausage today (even in my stretchy pants!), and to top everything off, Tabs has been treating me like a pariah.

Yup, one of those days…

I feel like just hitting my head against my desk, but I wonder, “What would Tim Gunn do?”

Ah, of course. That’s right. Tim would “make it work,” so I’ll try to do the same, and I have, hence the five cups of tea.

To make it official, though, I think I should put it in print, so here goes: “By the time I reach the bottom of this mug, I will be filled with lurve.”

On the plus side, at least I’m not possessed by a demon (yay!), I have all of my toes, and I don’t have serial killer eyes. Three very good things, and today I owe that last one to MAC Uniform Technakohl ($15).

A khaki eyeliner with golden shimmer, it fits my mood a lot of the time when other shades don’t. Understated. Not as flashy as black nor as blah as brown, it makes me feel classier when I swipe it along my lash and water lines.

How else could I describe it? Well, if a liner were able to capture Jennifer Aniston’s fashion sense, I think that liner would be Uniform.

And right now, since I’m trying to conserve enough energy to keep lifting this mug of tea to my lips, Technakohl’s twist-up applicator means I won’t have to break out a sharpener.

Best of all, Uniform stays where it belongs. I dolled up my upper and lower lash lines with it before heading into the city last Saturday, and when I returned home eight hours later to my suburban cave, it was still hanging tough, which is to say that Uniform follows Tim Gunn’s lead (it makes it work). 🙂

Oh I love Pukka Love too, and I hope it makes you feel better 🙂

Anything with golden shimmer is my thing! I got UD Bourbon after your recommendation and I’ve been in love ever since, so it looks like I’d check Uniform out very soon!

My tomcat Tango is pushing everything he can reach off because he wants his midnight snack now. What little ungrateful bandits our whiskered lovers can be sometimes!

      Hi Sunny,

I think it’s starting to kick in. Yay for yummy herbal teas. 🙂

Glad to hear you love Bourbon. It’s my fave UD pencil, and I never leave home without it. You gotta check out MAC Powersurge next if you haven’t already.

Tango sounds like he has a big personality! What are his favorite midnight snacks? Every night before I got to bed Tabs always gets a little bit of Friskies wet food.

My gawd i love uniform. I used up two of these. And I have one in my hand bag and one in my purse at all times. If I ever need to look well put together, out Uniform comes. I’ve done a Bikram’s class, Uniform-ed and come out looking like a mill.

I think I raved about it here aeons ago. It’s so lovely! Glad you like it too!

    • Karen says:

      Hi Indoor Kitty,

Ooh, I’ll have to put Uniform through a dance class one of these days. I’m pretty sure it’ll do great. Anywho, what colors do you like to wear it with? I love it with golds and bronzes.

And YAY, yoga! Although bikram’s not my fave… I can’t handle the heat.

Feel better 🙂 We all have some of those days. Today I intended to have a long run and ended up with a nice asthma attack because of the cold wind. I love the UD liners. I think they are awesome! Don’t really have a favorite except I have enjoyed layering Woodstock over UD’s traditional black liner. I enjoy herbal tea, too, especially when I have a good day off.

    • Karen says:

Thanks, Katherine. I have asthma, too. I know those attacks can be scary! I hope you were able to get a hold of your inhaler.

I’ll have to try layering Woodstock… thanks for the rec!

  4. Chris25 says:

I love this color. It would look amazing with Greensmoke e/s. 🙂

We’re bringing home a new kitty tomorrow! She’s a 1.5 year old calico.

    • Karen says:

How exciting, Chris! Have you named her yet? I hope Rocky and Jazz don’t get too jealous of their new baby sister.

      • Chris25 says:

My boyfriend is going to name her. We’re trying to decide, but here are a few we’re considering: Sophie, Lily & Annabelle.

I’m going to rub a towel on the new kitty and give it to Rocky & Jazz. Hopefully they will get used to her smell. 🙂

        • Karen says:

Those are all very sweet names. I’m sure she’ll help you name her once you meet her. (When we first met Tabs we called him “F.T.” for Fussy Tabby, but it never really stuck!)

Will you be separating them at first? I’ve read that some experts recommend keeping the kitties in different rooms for a few days so they can get used to smelling each other.

          • Chris25 says:

Yep. The living room has a glass paned door. We’ll put her in there with her litter box and food, and wait to see how they react to each other.

        • Sophie says:

Hi Chris and Karen, I have a Sophie (orange tabby, kind of rare) and she’s the sweetest cat in the world! I also have a Zoe, Cleo and Isis. The two boys are Walter (Sophie’s orange littermate) and Taz, aka Tasmanian Devil. He’s a 20-lb Maine Coon, most of it fur, but the most muscular and strong cat I’ve ever seen. He could give Tabs a run for his Friskies, but I wouldn’t do that to Tabs.

BTW, have your new kitty spayed right away (if she’s not already). Even if the others are, her heat will drive them wild, trust me! ^_^~~~

  5. Anna says:

Gorgeous color!! I wonder if there is a gel/cream liner similar to it…

  6. Lilly says:

Oh Karen where did you get the photo of that dress? I’m a sucker for safari-style shirt dress like that

  7. BooBooNinja says:

    Hey Karen,

This is off topic, but I was wondering if you have any tips for preventing eyeliner on the upper lash line from transferring to the bottom waterline.

  8. Heidi says:

Ooh, I’m definitely going to have to check this one out. Love it.

  9. breyerchic04 says:

This is how I use my UD Stray Dog and Underground, fantastic! Sharpening kind of makes me want to order technakohls.

  10. Vonvon says:

Lovely! A color I would wear often, especially for work.

Btw, we have Pukka Tea here ad I have been drinking lots of the Detox and Cleanse variants. Also Night Time and Morning Time, but not Love.

Okay — someone has to share where they got the Pukka Tea. Went to their website (UK) and can’t locate any retail outlets for their teas.

Btw, I’ll now be singing “the Puka, the Puka, the Puka dance party” for the rest of the afternoon. It’s from a kid’s cartoon a few years ago. But your Pukka tea has brought it all back. HAHA!
