Haha! Now that’s a silly sheen, also known as a “Giddy Lustre.” ? MAC has so many gorgeous golden pink lipsticks, and Giddy Lustre is my jolly good golden pink fave. It’s an easygoing pink that most mirthful makeup lovers can wear, be they warm-toned stunners, cool-toned kittens, dark-toned dazzlers, fair mavens, tan temptresses, blonde bombshells, brunette beauties…
Well, you get the idea. It’s one of those flexible flattering shades you can wear with almost anything, and I don’t think it gets the ? it deserves.
What’s an unsung makeup hero? For me, it’s an oftentimes underrated makeup morsel, a permanent collection product that scoots under the radar screen of many makeup lovers but regularly rocks my world. The long-running Unsung Heroes series features some of my favorites.
It’s always getting overshadowed by the flashier shimmery golden pinks in the MAC fam, and it’s true, it isn’t as bright as pink Bombshell or frosty as Sandy B. It’s more of an understated pink with restrained golden shimmer, but that’s why I think it looks pricier than it is (it’s $17.50 but looks like it’s $30), and the secret golden shimmer is the sauce. YSL, Chanel and Guerlain better look out! (You too, Tom Ford!)
Giddy is a warm-toned pink lemonade (that smells and tastes like trademark MAC vanilla), and it’s close enough to a neutral that cool-toned kittens can still pull it off. It reads like a my-lips-but-better pink nude on my pigmented lips, and I love it for a quick five-minute face with concealer, black liner, mascara, brows, blush and bronzer. It brightens up the place with a kiss of natural color and a subtle sheen.
It’s a Lustre finish, which is MAC’s line of moisturizing, lightweight creamy lippies, and it doesn’t last as long as a MAC Matte or a Retro Matte. The consistency is thinner than MAC’s longer-wearing lipsticks, and I’ll get about two hours with it, or maybe three, but I’m fine with that, because when I wear this shade, I’m not usually wearing a ton of other makeup or long-wearing products anyway.
This Giddy lipstick is a crackup in the best possible way. Haha! Sorry… So many puns. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

It is one of the colors that transform me into Barbie instantly, pinks are incredibly difficult to wear. Only the deep, almost fuchsia ones are the ones I feel comfortable in.
Karen says
Sorry to hear this doesn’t work for you! Bombshell might be a bigger fit. If you like the brighter pinks you could also try Girl About Town.

I keep testing all the pinks that come my way to find the ones that work. A very wise woman (you) told me years ago that there is a pink for everyone!
Karen says
I still stand by that. 🙂 You might need to try mixing in some other colors (maybe a brown that you like?) at first, but you can get there!
Kim says
I have to be with Linda on this one. I’ve yet to find a pink that doesn’t look terrible on me. But it looks lovely on you and I completely believe that it would be nice on most people. 🙂
Karen says
I think if we can get you in a red lipstick pink is only a few years away. I’m holding onto hope!
Kim says
HAHA! That’s the spirit. I’ll keep trying. 🙂
Karen says
Maybe something less of a sweet pink, like a bright fuchsia pink? You could wear it like a stain, like your red lippie.
Kim says
I’ll give it a try but I think even nudes look bad on me. Maybe I’m just too stuck in the 90s but the brownish berries always seem the nicest. But I will try it – honest. I did try the tangerine when that was a thing (2 years ago)? It’s just lipstick, right?! 🙂

Such a pretty pink. I’ve never heard of this one before. Patisserie usually gets a lot of love, too. Need to take a gander at this one.
Karen says
Oh, Patisserie is one of my faves, too!

This pink suits you beautifully! I may be alone in this, but Lustre is my fave MAC formula. Hug Me and Syrup are such perfect and easy purse staples. My other formulas just sit in my collection and get no love.
Karen says
Hi Angie,
YES! The Lustres are so great for everyday lippies. I love that you mentioned Syrup… That was my jam for a year back in the early 2000s. 🙂
Sissi says
That’s definitely a color that I could wear every single day! In fact: I probably have 10 lipsticks just like that! Hahahaha!
