Under-eye concealing: it takes a village.
Honestly, though, it feels that way sometimes, with all the layering, blending, patting and tiny-little-circle-making going on beneath my lower lash lines, which I must do to disguise the fact that I roll out of bed every morning resembling Uncle Fester.
MAC is trying to make it easier with the snazzy new concealing tools in their Studio Conceal & Correct collection.
There are three new products available in multiple colors.
- Studio Finish Concealer Duos ($25 each)
- Studio Finish Conceal and Correct Duos ($30 each)
- Chromagraphic Pencils ($16 each)
I’ve mostly been using them to keep my under-eye circles on the down-low, but they also offer enough coverage to disguise birthmarks, blemishes, moles and even tattoos.
Oh, and since all of them are bound for the MAC permanent line, whenever you do eventually get that picture of your chubby tabby cat tattooed on your shoulder, even if it’s a year down the road, you’ll be able to easily hide it from your husband.
I’m just sayin’. 🙂
The MAC Studio Finish Concealer Duos ($25 each)
Individually, these concealers have been available for years, but I’m glad to see them here as duos in convenient complementary colors.
With these, a little really does go a long way, and I get the best results when I buff the crap outta them with a 217, then pat the edges down with a clean finger, before setting them with a little loose powder.
Available in six duos with two shades each ($25 US/$30 CDN) in NW10/NC20, NW20/NC25, NW25/NC30, NW30/NC35, NW40/NC45 and NW45/NC50.
MAC Studio Finish Conceal and Correct Duos ($30 each)
Remember the Yellow/Coral duo from 2010’s Mickey Contractor collection? I loved that thing to pieces, and now it’s available in more shades!
Like their name implies, basically, these are color-correcting concealers. You can wear ’em under your favorite concealer, or mix them in with your concealer to “correct,” or offset, specific color tones, like right now I use the Mid Peach/Mid Yellow to offset the purple under my eyes.
They come in four combinations of two shades each ($30 US/$37 CDN) in Mid Peach/Mid Yellow, Pale Yellow/Pale Pink, Rich Yellow/Burnt Coral and Pure Orange/Ochre.
MAC Studio Chromagraphic Pencils ($16 each)
Seriously, so bomb for lining the lower water line to brighten the eyes, or for blending beneath the brow bone to lift and define the brows. Available in three versions — NC15/NW20, NW25/NC30 and NC42/NW35 ($16 US/$19 CDN) — they’re also great as spot concealers to hide moles and blemishes. I use these All. The. Time.
When and where do they arrive?
Look for the new Studio Concealer & Correct collection online starting December 23, and in-stores December 26. They’ll be landing in the permanent line.

GURL, we just got these in at my counter and they look BOMB. I can’t wait to play with them!!! Also can’t wait for Lightness of Being. I have my shopping list ready to go!
Karen says
Hey Estefania!
Yeah, I’m excited about that one too. What’s on your shopping list!
Happy Monday. I hope you had a nice day.
Estefania says
I’ve got quite the list! haha.
I’m getting Perfect Topping because I missed out when it was in Fantasy of Flowers.
Uplifting blush because I swatched it yesterday and WOW.
Force of Nature eyeshadow because of the same reason, plus, I’m obsessed with taupe eyeshadows.
Touch the Earth lipstick.
Maybe the 159 brush, and I might pick up a 130 while I’m at it 🙂

Ooh please share pictures of how you use the correctors! I’ve been dying to try one, and since we have similar skintones, I’d love to see how they actually work. Otherwise, they seem a bit scary…
Karen says
Hi Solangel,
You could do Mid Peach/Mid Yellow during the winter and then Rich Yellow/Burnt Coral during the summer. I use the peach underneath my eyes to hide dark circles and then I apply my regular concealer on top. The yellow helps counteract red and pink — those I use around my nose and cheeks. HTH! Let me know if you have any more questions.
Chelsea says
The conceal and correct duos look interesting! Definitely curious.
Karen says
Hi Chelsea,
I love those. So glad they are in the permanent collection. You can use the peach to disguise purple underneath the eyes and the yellow to counteract redness. It’s good stuff.
Hope that you had a nice Monday! I’m sitting here watching TV and relaxing with El Hub and Tabs.

I need the pencil for sure. I may get NARS Rue Bonaparte though.

Finally, just what I’ve been looking for! I’m so excited to try these out, especially the conceal and correct duos! I’ll probably pick up some of the concealer duos for my kit as well! 🙂

I’d definitely like to play with the liquid concealers. Cream always seems hard to blend for me (probably because my hands are cold and my finger tips don’t warm the product).
Ah, it’s hard to be an ice queen 😉
Monica.
Karen says
Hi Monica,
LOL! My fingers are OK with staying warm, but my toes! Those are another story. My feet are always cold.
By the way, one trick you can do to warm up stiff concealer is to use a hair dryer set on low.
Hope you had a nice Monday! It is STILL raining here in Nor Cal! All the creeks and ponds around my house are up.
MonicaP says
.. and more rain is on the way! Oye, be careful what Calif wishes for 😉

I’m curious about the Conceal and Correct Duos but I’m not sure I know how they’re supposed to be used. What’s the yellow shade for vs. the peachy shade?
Karen says
Hi Lulle,
I use the peachy shade to neutralize purple underneath my eyes. The yellow corrects pink and mild red hues. I use it on cheeks and around my nose. After I apply the color-correcting concealer, I use my regular foundation/concealer on top. HTH. If you have any questions please ask!
Erin says
Are the conceal correct duos drying at all? I have the driest under eye area!!
Eesha says
Oh my, I can’t wait for Conceal/ Correct duos. They look so promising for the darkness under my eyes!
LindaLibraLoca says
The Studio Finish Concealers never really worked for me, but I am looking forward to try the Conceal and Correct Duos.
I could spend hours just working on my undereye area…
Kiss & Make-up says
Oh my, we have a lot to look forward to it seems! Awesome. I’ll have to make a trip to the MAC counter then.
Sylirael says
Oh gosh…more concealery and fleshtone eyelinery goodness! I wish MAC were nicer to their international customers. They have so much stuff that I’d be all over!
Alex says
Omg Karen I’m in LOVE with your blog! i was wondering for a person who’s an everyday nc25, it wouldnt look right if i got the ‘burnt coral/rich yellow’ would it? because i have genetically awful under eye circles and i have used everything from Bobbi Brown under corrector to Benefit’s Erase Paste and they don’t councteract the blue, they just make it look greyish! so i dont want to be buying the mid peach and it not working! keep up the great blog posts!
GC says
Hello, we have similar colouring and I always look to you for product recommendations.
I was recommended the buy the correct & conceal duo in “Burnt coral/ rich yellow” for my undereyes but the coral looks so… dark!? Almost too dark.
Would you have any advice? Looking forward to your tutorial on the product!
Frannie says
Hey! I was very interested in the liquid duos, but one doubt that I have is: how similar are mid Yellow and rich Yellow? the burnt coral looks really intimidating.. I’m afraid it’d be too dark and would not blen well with my foundation(I’m NC20, oh the other hand the mid peach really isn’t anything special, this is why I’m kinda basing my decision on the yellows 😉
Thanks for answering
