Every weekday at 5 p.m. on the dot, the children in my neighborhood leave their homes and start yelling like banshees in the street.
I’ve tried to figure out why they do it, and what they’re yelling about, but as far as I can tell, there’s no rhyme or reason.
This really has nothing to do with my makeup today (I’m wearing the new MAC Smokeluxe Veluxe Pearlfusion). It’s just that I can hear the kids outside as I type this, and I want to open my office window and yell back at them, “JUST WAIT UNTIL YOUR 30s!! THEN YOU’LL ALL HAVE SOMETHING TO SCREAM ABOUT!!! GAHHHHH!” 🙂
Oh, but the 5 p.m. outburst is nothing compared to the ice cream truck ruckus. That’s when all hell breaks loose, and I’m usually one of the kids screaming. “ICE CREAM! YAY, IT’S THE ICE CREAM TRUCK!!!”
Haha! Okay, I’m putting away the all-caps and exclamation marks (for a minute).
So, the Smokeluxe palette. Right now, I have mixed feelings about it. I like how easy to blend the colors are and the shimmery finish (shimmery, but not frosty), but I wish they translated better in pics.
The camera seems to really dull down the shine quite a bit; I think the shadows look much more shimmery in real life.
Hmm… And the more I look at these MAC Veluxe Pearlfusions, the more they remind me of Milani’s Runway Eyes.
Hope you had a good hump day and a great night. Did you do anything fun? Any quick trips to Sephora or anything like that?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Beautiful look Karen! I’m excited to see the new MAC palettes in person. 🙂
This week is the last week of school for the kids, so it’s chaos in our house!
Karen says
Hi Amber,
Ahh, the week before summer. How many kids do you have?
Amber says
Yep it was a crazy week here! We are a modern day brady bunch, sort of…
5 kids between my hubby and I. 4 in school. Happy Summer! xo

Ha ha, you’re so funny. I am the same way with the kids on my court, they scream everyday! I always say to myself- why can’t they play without screaming?? And then my husband calls me an old lady, lol.
The eye look you created is really pretty but I am not crazy about any of those new Mac palettes.
Karen says
LOL! It’s true. Did you scream that much when you were a kid? I don’t think I did. Maybe I did. I really can’t remember, it was a loooooong time ago.
Agata says
I didn’t!!! It’s crazy! I hope my kids don’t scream like that when I do have them 🙂
Karen says
Maybe I did but I forgot? LOL These kids scream like it’s their JOB. Maybe it’s something in the food…
Agata says
Lol, it’s too funny, I will have to tell my hubby that you were writing about this cause he always laughs at me saying I will be soon telling the kids to get off our lawn! And those little girls are the loudest!

And now we’re both stuck on Milani! 🙂
If your neighborhood kids are anything like mine, they need to finish their homework right after school, before they can go out to play. They are so darned excited to run around with all their little friends that it’s a complete scream/laugh fest when they finally get out. Incidentally, I’ve found that girls are a LOT more screamy than boys. Our boys are usually too busy play-fighting with sticks or nerf guns or whatever they can find to be squealing or screaming. Thankfully! 🙂
Karen says
Maybe that’s why there’s so much screaming! There’s definitely a higher ratio of little girls in our neighborhood. Why are they yelling? Elementary school isn’t that rough. LOL
I fear it’s only a matter of time before I turn into the neighborhood grinch who yells “GET OFF MY LAWN!”
Kim says
HAHA! I know it’s not very PC, but I find that boys yell/talk loudly (using actual words) and girls screech/scream (no words – just shrill noise). If I had a dollar for every time I’ve said “honey, what are you screaming about? You’re making my head explode!”, I’d be rich. It’s mostly screams of excitement over something, especially being chased for tag, etc. Whenever the boys say they wish they had a little sister, I remind them of the screechiest girls in our neighborhood and they reconsider. 🙂

That little anecdote about the neighborhood kids is hilarious.
This palette is okay. I’ve been enjoying reading the reviews, but I don’t know if they are worth picking up for me.
Karen says
Hi Danielle,
Yeah, it’s okay. I’m still waiting to be wowed by one of them.
