MAC Overrich was the second collection to hit MAC counters today. Its eight MAC pigments promise to steal some of Cult of Cherry’s thunder. All eight of these loose shadows ($19.50 each) made shorty wanna get loose! I think these shades of green, gold, bronze and copper are perfect for fall.
All eight pigments are limited edition at regular MAC freestanding stores and counters, but according to one of my sources, MAC Pro stores should still carry most of the Overrich shades even after the collection has sold out elsewhere. The following six colors are slated to remain part of the permanent Pro Store pigment line-up:
Likely Permanent Pro Store Pigments
- Blonde’s Gold
- Heritage Rouge
- Copperbeam
- Vintage Gold
- Antique Green
- Museum Bronze
Note that the remaining two Overrich shades, Mega-Rich and Mauvement, will even be limited edition at MAC Pro Stores, so if you’re lusting after either one, grab ’em quick, girlfriend.
What do you think of the Overrich pigments? I LOVE THEM! — sorry, uncontrolled outburst.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

My goodness.
I will have to rush out and buy Vintage Gold and Mauvement. It’s soooo nice.
I never expected them to have such a pigmented colour. That’s a very good colour payoff!
Karen says
Hi Betty,
Vintage gold is very pretty. I was very surprised with how much I like these, and I’m usually a pigment person.
Did you pick up any Cult of Cherry?
Elle says
OK, I think I might have to pick up vintage gold. Thanks for the swatches Karen! It’s just such a shame because I know I’ll *never* use that entire container. Wish I had more MAC addict friends around here to share a pot with! 😉 My friends just shake their heads when I get all makeup-y on them. Apparently geeky girls shouldn’t be as into makeup as me…oh, how wrong… 🙂
Denise says
OMG. I’ve discovered super close dupes for 5 of these in my HiP pigment collection. I am floored. Happy, but floored. Hmmm…I’m gonna go look at the Mac site for face charts and try some looks.
Great pics again! You are a doll!
KK says
Awesome pics Karen!!! I am going to pick up some cult tomorrow!! I am even buying a quad for my friend for her bday!!!
Happy Weekend!
Karen says
Hi Elle,
You’re welcome! Do you have Sumptuous Olive? If you do, then you don’t need Vintage gold.
LOL, my friends don’t get my makeup obsession, either. They actually give me a lot of crap about how much I own… whatev, I figure that I could have worse habits. At least I’m not hurting anybody! Now gimme those pigments, LOLOLZ! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Denise,
Glad I could help!
Karen says
Hi KK,
Woot! What are you planning on getting?
pia says
Oh goodie! I don’t need any of those pigments. But when it comes down to what I want…i want them all. it’s just my bank account and wallet disapprove.
pias last blog post..FOTD – Natural Face
Karen says
Hi Pia,
Yeah, I want them all, too. I gotta chill for a bit and bask in the Cult of Cherry afterglow for awhile. 🙂
Marisol says
Is Mauvement a repromote? Why do I feel like I have seen that color before and may even have it?
Gorgeous colors!

Karen says
Hi Marisol,
Hmm, I dunno. Now that I think about it, in the pot it vaguely reminds me of Kitschmas…
Dao says
Goodness, these colors are lovely! Unfortunately, I’m not a fan of MAC pigments. They are chunky to me, compared to my regular mineral eye shadows.
Daos last blog post..My Makeup Blog Poll
Karen says
Hi Dao,
I think it depends on the shade. Some of them have a chunky texture but some of are quite fine, like Mega Rich. It’s very smooth!
Marisol says
I checked Specktra and it is a repromote. It came out with Rushmetals in August of 07. I knew that the name sounded familiar.
Case closed. LOL

Hi Marisol,
Thanks for checkin’, you eagle eye! *high five*
Asta says
Very pretty. I don’t have any pigments yet but I have a few of the L’Oreal HIPs. I started my MAC collection today with the Cult of Cherry quads and some lipglasses. Sooo exciting. And a fabulous gay man did my makeup. Did anyone see Project Runway last night? He used to do makeup for drag queens in NY, and he knows Hedda Lettuce and the chica whose outfit won! We had a really great time, and now I have my own special mac artist. *grin*
As long as these pigments aren’t going away forever, I can wait to get a few.
Jenna says
How are these pigments in terms of not getting all over your face? Pigments scare me because I worry about that!
Tiffany says
So pretty! I ordered blonde’s gold online. It was hard to choose just one 🙁
Holly says
argh i love all of these!! Unfortunately though the few pigments i have tried so far have made my eyes water none stop so i think im just oging to have to admit defeat and fact the fact that im just not meant to wear them!!
Unless you have any tips on any different application techniques or anything that could avoid this???please say you do~!!!
Karen B says
As I already said: I want them all!!!
Daya says
Is Nocturelle the dupe for Heritage Rouge?? The MA tried it on my hand yesterday, and as beautiful as it was, I couldn’t buy it. 🙁
Amy says
So lusting after these that I am braving Tropical Storm Fay to get the mall! 🙂

Megan says
I am in love with heritage rouge and antique green…hmmm…I may have to pick one of those up.
Tami says
Although I like the vintage gold pigment, I can wait on it. I will definitely be getting my Cult of Cherry fix this weekend!
Amanda says
whew. While the colors and swatches are gorgeous, there isn’t anything I can’t live without. antique green is more teal than I was hoping. and heritage rouge is pure hotness in the jar but I have not idea what i would do with it!
Christine says
I saw a youtube video saying some pigment are less full then others and they are 4.3 instead of 7.5g! But still charging full price!
Michelle says
I’m thinking of going with Muavement & Antique Green. I’ve never bought pigments before. How do you use them?
Karen says
Hi Asta,
I did see that episode. I CRACKED UP when Tim made the comment about that one outfit looking like a teradactyl in a gay Jurassic park… I heart Tim. Anyways, that’s so cool that your MAC buddy knows the queens! He sounds like a very entertaining guy.
Yeah, I feel the same way about the pigments. Yes, they make my heart flutter, but they will only be a bridge toll away (I live near a Pro Store, which is in SF) for me, so I can wait.
Karen says
Hi Jenna,
Using a stiff brush helps to control the product. Also, a primer on the lids helps to give them something to stick too. Some people also like using MAC Mixing Medium on their brushes with the pigments, too, which turns them into a “wet” shadow and is supposed to make them easier control (I haven’t tried that yet, though).
I did a how to a few months ago, which you can check out here:
How to Use MAC Pigments
Karen says
Hi Tiffany,
That one is really pretty, and was the first shade to catch my eye. It looks really versatile!
Karen says
Hi Holly,
Hmm, are you using them loose? I haven’t tried it yet, but lots of people like wetting their brushes with MAC Mixing Medium (you can also make a home made version using glycerin from the drugstore) first, which turns ’em into more of a wet creamy shadow. You might also try laying down a layer of Paint Pot first to act as a buffer between your skin and the pigments.
Oh, also have to note that certain colors aren’t lip/eye safe. Maybe you picked up one that isn’t safe for the eyes? It could also be that there’s just something in them that your skin doesn’t like…
Karen says
Hi Karen B.,
Yes, they are fantastic! I gotta wait to get them, though.
Karen says
Hi Daya,
I’m not a hard core Pigment collector so I don’t have Nocturelle and I can’t tell ya if they look similar, sorry. What made you decide to walk away?
Karen says
Hi Amy,
Girl! You are a makeup trooper. I hope you made it to the mall and back in one piece. What did you end up getting?
Karen says
Hi Megan,
Antique Green is on my lust list. The color totally surprised me! I didn’t expect it to be so kelly green.
Karen says
Hi Tami,
Have fun hauling this weekend. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Amanda,
LOL! I feel the same way with certain brights, like hot pinks and bright purples and oranges. So hot, but what the heck would I ever do with them?
Karen says
Hi Christine,
Hmm, that’s interesting. I dunno… there are a lot of MAC rumors out there so you never know.
Karen says
Hi Michelle,
They are easy to use once you get the hang of them. Here’s a basic how to:

Great! Thanks Karen 🙂

I purchased the mixing medium last weekend. I wanted a product that wouldn’t change the color of the pigment. So the mua suggested the medium and was even nice enough to show me how to use it. All you need is a drop mixed in the desired amount of pigment, which creates a sort of paste. The mua also advised me to place the pigment exactly where I wanted it as it would be hard to correct mistakes.
