Just a few MAC faves I’ve been lovin’ extra lots lately!
MAC Matchmaster Concealer ($22). Guuuurrrrrl. BOMB. DOT. COM. They’re creamy stick concealers with auto-magical self-adjusting pigments that personalize themselves to your own awesome skin tone…
Yes, that was a bunch of nonsensical fancy talk. 🙂
I’m an NC42, and I wear Shade 5 (there are 11 in all).
Somehow, once this concealer settles in after blending it out, it matches my skin perfectly, and it’s freaking me out! I would love to learn about the cosmetic chemistry behind it because I’m sure it’s cutting edge. The coverage is medium, and the finish is satiny. I think it reflects just enough light and looks natural.
Of course, you can still change the finish by buffing a matte face powder on top, but I like to keep it dewy, so I set mine with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural.
Matchmaster lasts all day long for me without scooting, budging or fading. MAC says its also sweat-resistant and ideal for humid climes, so I’m bringing it with me to Hawaii, for sure.
Another thing I’ve been into this week: $23 MAC Melba Blush.
Look at that pan! Mine is well-loved, LOL! It’s a coral-peach with a matte finish.
I love it and wear it often (typically applied kind of haphazardly on my cheeks), especially in spring and summer (yay, corals!). You can put it precisely on the apples of your cheeks and blend the edges, yadda, yadda, yadda, but my favorite way to apply it is with a fluffy face brush, gently pressing it casually on my cheeks. It looks sun-kissed and natural…like you took your cat on a five-hour-long walk.
Someone in the comments last week asked for a not-too-bright coral lipstick recommendation, and I can’t remember exactly what I suggested, but it occurred to me later that I could have said Clever, from MAC’s Patentpolish line (it’s $21). It’s a creamy coral with brick tones, so you do get a coral lipstick vibe, but the brick dials it down a notch.
I’m passionate about the Patentpolishes. They’re creamy, smooth, opaque and shiny (but not glazed doughnut shiny).
Now that I think about it, they’re a lot like the Hourglass Girl Lip Stylos. They’re laid-back, but glam at the same time.
I also gotta give special shout-out to MAC Extra Dimension Eye Shadow in Sweet Heat (a soft, long-wearing peachy pink), Hush Cream Color Base (a neutral peach cream highlighter), Next to Nothing Face Colour (a sheer base that looks like real skin!) and In Extra Dimension Waterproof Mascara (lash drama to the ‘nth’ degree).
All of these things are must-haves!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

WHat type of skin do you have I have really wanted to try the concealer and the new Mac next to nothing line. But I have combo skin so I was worried that wouldn’t work . Your skin looks great

I ❤️ Mac concealers too, need to check this one out for sure, sounds ideal for when I’m in greece. I wore in extra dimension mascara when I got married and skipped falsies, it’s terrific. But it’s been a month now that I’ve developed some sort of a reaction to it and it makes my eyes sting. No idea why, but it’s a shame as it’s such a good mascara.

I LOVE your makeup here! Glowy and natural, but still polished. That concealer sounds amazing. And the eye shadow and Patentpolish are so pretty! I wish there was a MAC counter near me. The nearest one is about 40 minutes away.
If I were you I’d be taking a lot of this stuff on holiday to Hawaii with me! Did I mention how jealous I am that you’re heading to Hawaii? I’d love to go back there one day.

Girl, I took one look at what you’re wearing and thought “That’s it! That’s the every day summer look I want!” and just slammed them into my cart and bought like… everything you listed today. Also picked up some unsung heroes. Love your recommendations! Hope you had an amazing birthday. 🙂

I liked the Matchmaster foundation, so maybe the concealer would work for me too? Sweat-proof and n0 fading sound perfect for summer.

Hi Ms. Karen – so you like that mascara? I used to use Zoom lash consistently – but they changed the formula! I splurged and got the Chanel – so I’m using that one right now but I cannot afford it on the daily. I love it. I’m really ‘kind of’ liking, trying out the new Loreal one – but it does tend to smudge on me by the end of the day where my lashes hit on my upper eye bone. It really brings out my lash in length – but it doesn’t really do anything for them in volume. I do not like the smudges!! I use Gigablack Lash for the bottom lashes, and I’ll never go with anything else, EVA again. I adore this mascara. I actually top off the Le Volume with the Mac Gigablack – it lengthens them just a tad, and finds lashes that the Chanel brush was too big to find. I’m really nuts about mascara.
Anyway hon, I hope your birthday was wonderful, and you had lots o fun!!!
Take good care, talk to you soon,
Grace and Peace,
Gina and Gracie.

Melba is a pretty color. Don’t know why, but I’ve never owned a MAC blush. Need to swatch that one in person.
Have a fab time in Hawaii. Aloha!
