MAC Pro Store Visit aka Beauty Powder Dreams Do Come True
Once upon a time, two beauty blogger friends met up in San Francisco to visit the magical land of the MAC Pro Store on Union Street.
Karen and Christine from Temptalia walked though the door and were greeted by the most fantastic store manager, David, whom Karen immediately was enamored with after a he declared that just like her, he “was a fluidline, girl too.” Awww…
David with Christine. Homeboy knows his shizz, ya’ll.
The two bloggers scoured the store and OOHHH-ed and AAAHHHH-ed at several choice products, including the new loose beauty powders.
Please pinch me.
I narrow my choices down to the final three…
David brings out the Reflects Glitter and then we go nuts.
After an hour (or two?) and much deliberation (and self restraint!), both ladies leave the store with their bags o’ loot!

And to top off the trip and to celebrate Christine’s birthday, they head to Kara’s Cupcake shop and gorge on some HELLA DELICIOUS goodies. YUM!
Mystery of the day: Matte2…How Do You Pronounce It? and Matte2 Shadow Experiments
Question for you: do you say, “Matte Two” or “Matte Squared”?
Today I played with a few of the scarier Matte2 colors and did some eye experiments.
Post Haste (bright berry pink), Pen ‘n’ Pink (pastel pale pink), Handwritten (rich chocolate brown)
Post Haste, Fig.1 (eggplant purple), Newly Minted (rich sea green)
These aren’t usually my style but I thought it might be fun to see what I could come up with. I had a really difficult time blending and despite the fact that I’ve heard the color payoff is great I felt like I had to pack on *a lot* of color. However, the jury is still out on the Matte2 shadows. I’ll be spending more time with it over the next few days…hopefully I’ll be able to get them to work for me (crosses fingers!).
I can’t believe the weekend is over already! I need at least three more days off. 😉 Hope you had a relaxing Sunday!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Ahhh!! Pink eyeshadow, teal eyeshadow! I knew you had it in you 🙂
I love the way Newly Minted really pops when your eye is open.
Vanessa says
Wow im jealous Karen! You gals make me wanna move to San Francisco so I can join you gals in your MAC adventures! LOL. I gotta check out the PRO store now and see what I am missing out on! (oh and to answer your question on the rainbow eyes I did last week, it took me like 15 minutes on EACH eye! doh!)
Karen says
Thanks girlfriend! I will venture into the other colors soon. I really wanted to do a straight matte eye but it’s just not going to work without any of the light matte2 colors! Ricepaper, here I come!
Karen says
Vanessa, that rainbow eye was a work of art! I loved it. 15 minutes, wow!
Next time you come up here we’ll all have to get together, ha ha ha!
Oh, I didn’t have any pics of these, but we got a good look at the Nudes and Shapers and they look really neat.
kia says
i see you working the colors karen! congrats!
looks like you two had major fun. can you shop the pro store without a pro card?
happy belated bday christine!
Miss Jeffrey says
Your mattene review made me go shopping Saturday too. I went to the Pro store, picked up 2 mattene lippies, the paperwhite beauty powder and the purple duo reflects glitter.
Karen says
Hi Kia,
Nope, you don’t need a Pro Card! All you need is $ and plenty of self restraint! I felt like a kid in a candy store!
And yeah…I’m still trying to figure out color. You’ve inspired me! 🙂
Karen says
OH! Miss Jeffrey, what colors did you get? Did you end up purchasing Night Violet?
Are you wearing your purchases today? Right now I’m rocking the Natural Flare beauty powder, Prep + Prime lip, Honey B. Cremestick liner, Inkspill liquidlast liner (which I’m not crazy about right now), and Groundwork paint pot.
kia says
oooooooooohhhhh i skipped out on the pro mac store in NY cuz i thought i needed a pro card!!!!!! aww man!
i’m glad i’ve inspired you =))) (aww my heart is all warm and fuzzy, lol)
Karen says
OH GIRRRRRRLL you better go back someday and bring your ability to self-restrain. It can be really easy to drop a lot of money. They have all sorts of interesting and flexible products, too. Go to the site and check it out: http://www.macpro.com
And you totally inspire me with your creative and beautiful use of color! One of these days I’ll get enough courage to really venture into the brights like you, Christine and Apple Diva like to work!
Apple Diva says
Yo, thanx for the inside track on the MAC Pro store. Next time can we get some swatches. 😀 Please!!
Karen says
I think I was too busy drooling over everything and thinking about the cupcakes! Next time I’ll put swatching on my list o’ things to do, girl!
