I was really looking forward to Kelly’s lipsticks from the the MAC Sharon & Kelly Osbourne collection, because from the product pics, they looked like the cats meow/whole enchilada (what’s the British equivalent of an enchilada? A pasty?) — like, take off your stretchy pants, and put on some real pants so you can head to the counter right now.
But then I tried them on…and I realized that you may have to be 16 years old with lips smoother than a baby’s butt to pull them off.
With the exception of Kelly Yum-Yum, the only satin lipstick in the bunch, the others are hard to wear, at least for me, and I really, REALLY tried to make them work.
Dude. I almost didn’t want to post these lip swatches because I’m not exactly thrilled with how they turned out. My lips look dry and heavily lined. I mean, I know I’m not a spring chicken, and I may be a little dehydrated today, but come on! I feel like Miss Havisham up in this b*tch.
So, first, the good. Kelly Yum-Yum. 🙂 If you only get one lip product from the Kelly squad, let it be this. It’s a satin finish version of the spectacular matte Candy Yum-Yum Lipstick. I just wore Candy Yum-Yum last week in the Jem lips post.
Other than the finishes being different, the colors aren’t identical. Kelly Yum-Yum has a little more pink, and not quite as much blue. But I think both are straight-up showstoppers.
Then there’s In Synch, the re-promoted Lip Pencil. It’s a solid oldie but a goodie.
I found the others here — the three matte lipsticks — difficult to wear, at least without serious lip prepping.
Like, if I smothered my lips first with lip balm the night before, and then on the morning of, and then drank five gallons of water, and then turned back time 10 years (ok, 20), then, yeah, we could make ’em work.

Wow, these look nothing like the other swatches I’ve seen….I was really looking forward to these but now I’m not so sure.
Amby B. says
I’m still kind of excited for these. I’ve skipped so many collections lately, I feel I deserve the cutest one lol. It seems like the colors I think may not work on me end up looking the best. So weird 😛 🙂
Karen says
What’s on your list, Amby?
Ashleigh says
I’ve been hunting down and snagging up all the “nude-neon orangey” lip colors… and so far all three I’ve found have been matte formulas. I so want to try Riot House so bad to see if it will behave well on my lips! 🙂
I also want to see Kelly Yum Yum and Candy Yum Yum side by side now. They’re both pretty fab.
Karen says
I hope you can make it work, Ashleigh! It’s one of those shades that I really wanted to wear, le sigh.
Fancie says
Kelly Yum Yum was already a must have for me! I’m quite the pink lip freak lol. I can never have enough! I really like Dodgy Girl too. I initially wanted 2 but the texture is making me want to stick with just one. It’s a beautiful color but I have a ton of fine lines and I’m sure it’ll be settle city. Bleh
Karen says
Do you have Impassioned, Fancie? If you’re a MAC pink lipstick fan, it’s a must!
Sunny says
Oh Kelly Yum Yum is so fab!!!
Karen says
Love it! 🙂
Sylirael says
Kelly Yum Yum is pretty! I like the colour *idea* of Dodgy Girl, but it’s a shame it’s a settle-fest. I mean, It would look nightmarish on this vampire 😉 but I do love purple as a colour!
Karen says
LOL, gotta love the creatures of the night. Yay, vampires!
Judith says
Too bad they look so dry on your lips, I do like Kelly Yum Yum though!
Karen says
That one’s my fave out of the bunch. 🙂
Erica says
Ouch! If you’re having problems with these lippies, this NC50 girl will certainly have problems. I’ll have to turn back time 20 years too (lol)! I was hoping to get Dodgy Girl and Riot House and use both sparingly with great lip gloss and lip liners. This is definitely a collection to swatch in person.
Karen says
Hope you can get these to work for ya, Erica! What else is on your wish list?
thatiane gomes says
karen I want all the lipsticks! great color that I wanted to be rich to buy everything!
Karen says
Oh yes, you’re a fan of the Osbournes, right? This collection is for you!
Danielle says
Kelly Yum Yum is my favorite here! But I also really like Riot House.
Karen says
LOVE Kelly Yum Yum!
Miki says
Loving all of the lip colors, but it’s a shame about the matte formulas.
Karen says
I know, right? I would’ve loved an Amplified version.
Emma says
Kelly Yum Yum looks delicious (ha ha)! I wish the pastel matte shades were easier to work with because they look so promising in the bullet
Karen says
Me too. It’ll be easier for gals/guys with smoother lips. Mine have lines though, so no go for me.
Liz says
You look phenomenal in that black outfit with Kelly Yum Yum! I’ll be swatching it for sure when it’s released. 🙂
Chelsea says
The Dior counter manager I used to work with is going to be all over Kelly Yum Yum. She wore bright pink like that every day.
Poo@beautyandmakeupmatters says
Kelly Yum yum i shand down the best shade in this collection.. <3 <#
zFashionizta says
I’m glad you posted all those lip color photos, now I can remove all of them from my shopping list.
Those colors are definitely not for you so I am sure they will not be good for me either.
zFashionizta says
by the way Karen, that photo of you is fab-u-lous! your hair and makeup look beautifully & sexy.
NATALIE says
Oh. Wow. These swatches are making me think twice about getting these. Too bad, because the colors are amazing too.
Charlene says
Is it worth it to get Kelly Yum Yum if I already have Candy Yum Yum? Or should I skip?
Ariana says
Despite the texture, I’m really looking forward to giving Dodgy Girl a try! One of my all time favourite lipsticks is Lavender Whip (both the 2008 and 2013!), but I always wished they were more opaque, seeing as they’re cremesheens. Dodgy Girl looks like a cooler, more opaque Lavender Whip so I can’t wait to try and make it work. I am a fiend for lavender lips, especially for my NC15 skin, and I’m still looking for the perfect lavender!
Debra says
I love all of Kelly’s lipsticks. Dodgy girl looks very compatible to lavender whip. Lavender whip is one of my favorite lipsticks! Except I am allergic to gluten, gluten is in Mac’s creamsheen finish lipsticks. I didn’t realize why I had was having breathing and other problems when I wore it! I have been searching for years for something compatible. I am hoping dodgy girl is it. Am I crazy to buy 2! Help I am addicted to Mac. Lol 🙂
Stacey says
Karen!
I’m looking for a nude lipstick. I’m stuck between strip poker & riot house in the Kelly collection and peach beige in the Pedro collection. So what do you think?
makeupbykifana says
OMG Karen, I tried Riot House! What a disaster for me! I put up another comment here last week about ordering it and I don’t see it, did it not make your cut? 😉
Lovisa says
I HATE my dry lips. Nothing helps. Bup Im going for dodgy even though I know it will flake….. I have an utopia 😀 IT just screams LIME CRIME to me… the rest of them
