I vote that we all wear soft glam makeup for Target runs from this day forward.
It has been decided!
If nothing else, I think it would make the world a more interesting place, LOL!
But seriously, I’m usually barefaced when I go to Target because #momlife, unless I’m feeling ambitious, in which case I might curl my lashes — might — but I just had to go there with MAC Jade Jagger. It’s so beautiful! I haven’t been this excited about a MAC collection in a long time.
Gimme easy glam any day of the week.
The collection is LE and coming to select MAC counters and the MAC website December 14th.
This was actually my face of the day last Friday, but I just got around to posting the pics. It’s a warm, satiny bronzed brown smoky eye with pink cheeks and soft red lip.
I did something for this look that makes smoky eyes about 1,000 times easier, BTW. It’s a trick to get a jump start on your light-to-dark smoky gradients. I layered two cream products together, one lighter and one darker, on my lids before I applied the powder eyeshadows in the quad. Because creams are easier to scoot around than powders, it’s easy to tweak how high up you take your darker color and map out the whole overall shape of your smoky eye when you do it this way.
The lighter cream shade, which I used as an all-over base on my lids, was warm matte brown Bite Beauty Multi-Stick in Honeywheat, and the darker cream (technically, it’s a creamy liner) was MAC Teddy Eye Kohl, which I applied along my lash line and just barely into the crease. Then I blended Teddy’s edges into Honeywheat and applied the rose gold shade and the brown from the quad on top.
Try that cream trick one of these days! I swear it’ll make your smoky eyes easier.

Karen

You look absolutely stunning!!!
Karen says
Thanks, Lisa! I hope you had a nice Monday. ?
LindaLibraLoca says
I do this with eyeshadow sticks a lot, like the ones by Kiko. Makes smokey eyes so much easier and quicker!
Karen says
Yes, it’s the best thing!
Chris25 says
I love the warm glow on your cheeks. That bronzer is tempting!
Karen says
Thanks, Chris! Happy Tuesday!
Indya says
Stunning! I didn’t feel so tempted by this collection, but seeing your posts definitely makes me want to give some of this collection a go!
Karen says
Hi Indya,
It really is beautiful, especially if you’re a Mineralize fan. That pink blush would look super pretty on you, I think!
Ruchita says
I like the idea of soft glam! This is such a pretty look. I love the warm colors of the eyeshadows.
Karen says
Hi Ruchita,
Me too. It’s like a few step up from every day polished. You should check out my friend Vanessa’s Instagram for ideas. She’s a pro at soft glam.
kellly says
Oh, you look just gorgeous! Those colors, your hair, the black top, everything. Really beautiful!
Marjan says
Hi Karen
Beautiful !
What’s the name of the red lipstick?
Thanks,
Marjan
Karen says
Thanks, Marjan! It’s Rolling Red from Jade Jagger. 🙂
Trude says
Absolutely gorgeous, soft glam is a great description! This look can be worn so many places, day or night. Target totally works. 😉 I never would have guessed the lipstick as photographed in the tube would look like it does on you!
Karen says
Hi Trude (and baby!),
It’s shockingly sheerer than it in the tube, right? I like it a lot. Those sheer reds are so easy to handle.
Happy Tuesday! It’s so warm here in the Bay Area. Has it snowed at all in your neck of the woods yet?
Trude says
No snow yet, which is super weird for this time of year, but I’ve been scraping ice off my car every morning the last 2 weeks or so! It’s been really cold at night and sunny but not very warm during the day. Hoping for some of rain for the Bay Area so it will come this way! 😉
Karen says
I was just chatting with a neighbor who’s going to Tahoe for Christmas and apparently it’s not going rain until after the new year. Craziness! It feels like spring here already. Not that I’m itching for cold weather, but when the weather is weird like this it makes me worry about the state of the planet (because I needed another thing to worry about).
Anyway, hope you have a nice day today. WEDNESDAY! Almost halfway through the week. When’s your last day at work?
Trude says
Yeah they’re having to pump in snow at the resorts up there! It’s cold enough to not melt, but we’re just not getting anything but clear skies. I’m sure the skiers will love it. 🙂 It feels like how summer was – the same forecast for weeks on end. Definitely weird.
Hope you’re having a great day too! I’m hoping to be done with work by January 19, but we’ll see how they do on finding a replacement. I just don’t know how effective I’ll be as an employee at 8 months pregnant! A lot of my work is at the computer but I do a lot of getting up and down and bending, etc. I think I’d rather be a whale alone in my home those last few weeks (if I get them, who knows if she’ll want to make an early appearance?). 🙂
Mylinda says
These look lovely! And launching same day as Patrick Starrr? I like what you’ve done with your makeup here. Any chance you’d do a look with the other quad? Or maybe some swatches? I have a hard time going to the store to swatch things bec I always have a kid (or two) in tow. So I rely on blogs like yours to create my shopping lists. I rarely comment but I regularly read your blog. Keep up the spectacular work!
Karen says
Hi Mylinda,
Yes, the same day. Here’s a look with the other quad along with swatches. I feel you on always having a kid in tow. Connor (my daughter) is my partner in crime whenever I go to the mall! 🙂 How old are your little ones?
Mylinda says
Thanks for the link! (I like these better than Patrick Starr… so Jade, here’s my money)… What was I doing on the 8th? How did I miss that post? Ah right, that was a Friday. Friday is my busiest day. The just-turned-four has Little Gym and Practice Time (also there) and we run straight to school to pick up my 5th grader after. I cram all the chores in the morning so I have time to put on my face and not look like hot mess mom when I face other moms. Well, I try. And it takes an hour. So I catch up on my reading anytime between Sunday night and Monday afternoon. Thanks, Karen. Bump into you at Target sometime! (I’m on the other side of the country… so unlikely… but I’m grabbing those Revlon cream shadows on my next run).
Tatiana says
You’re seriously gorgeous in these photos. Some days you just need to get glammed up!
I’m really hoping this collection ends up at one of my local counters, because the Robert Lee Morris stuff was no where to be found in these parts. Although I’m supposed to go to SF this Saturday, so maybe I’ll try to ditch Dear Husband for a bit and hit up the Powell St. store.
Sheena says
Heads-up, the Powell st store doesn’t have the Robert Lee Morris collection in stock, I was there last week ☹️
Karen says
Thanks for the info, Sheena.
Karen says
Thanks, lady! You may want to call around to counters to see if they have it first. Or try calling around to counters in the Bay Area. You could probably buy over the phone and then have it sent to you.
Was there something in particular you had your eye on?
Tatiana says
I really wanted to see it in person before I bought it. I hate having to make returns. If I’m gonna be calling around to do a phone order, I’ll just order it online from MAC.
Those two eyeshadow quads are calling out to me, as well as the two darker lipstick shades. The mineralize lipstick formula is one of my favorites.
Kim says
This is such a pretty look and I love that lip color (on you). Target is lucky to have you. 🙂
