Hey, have you ever noticed that when someone cuts up some fruit ? for you, even if it’s, like, the stringiest, most mediocre mango or the blandest apple ever, it tastes better?
What’s up with that? I don’t even know.
Like, if someone walked up right now with a tray of all the fruit on the packaging for the new MAC Fruity Juicy collection and said, “Hey! Here’s some coconut and banana slices for you. And half a nice papaya. Mmm… And we’ve got some tasty pineapple cubes!” I would not be hating life.
It’s a warm-toned color collection
Summer, summer, summertime! I know! It’s almost here. I can hardly contain myself [INSERT CONNOR CLAIRE’S HIP WIGGLY DANCE]. 🙂
That’s one of the things I always look forward to — MAC summer collections. Most of the time they’re warm and colorful to go with whatever summery bronzed bodaciousness you’re wearing, and Fruity Juicy is too.
A focus on face and cheek products
A tropical fruit salad o’ makeup, Fruity Juicy goes all out with face and cheek products, which makes sense to me, seeing as how MAC tends to focus on bronzed, beautiful skin in their summer collections.
There are four bronzers (I’ve tried the two $27 Bronzing Powders but haven’t tried the $33 Studio Sculpt Bronzers yet), two liquid highlighters (Lustre Drops in Sun Rush and Bronze Hero, both $21), a beautiful $33 bronzer/blush/highlighting Pearlmatte Face Powder called Oh My Passion, and a bottle of Prep+Prime Coconut Fix+, which I need to spray on my face RIGHT NOW. *spray*
Ah… That smells so good. We’ll get to that one in a second.
But there are also some eye palettes, lipsticks and Lipglasses
Of course there are. There are three $32 Eye Shadow X 6 six-pan eyeshadow palettes (Fruit a La La, Love in the Glades, Oh My Banana), four $17 lipsticks (Calm Heat, Shy Girl, Love at First Bite, Si Si Me) and four $21 Cremesheen Glasses (Cha-Cha-Cha, Shake Shake Shake, La Salsa, Summer Succulence).
Oh, and there’s also a makeup bag and a couple of brushes.
When and where
The complete cornucopia comes May 18th to MAC counters and online, and it’ll be available through June 29th.
Coconut Fix+ will probably sell out fast
Go coconuts and get there early if you want to get Coconut Fix+. That’s all I’m sayin’.
How cute is that bottle!? I can’t, I just can’t. And it smells SO GOOD! It’s coco-nutty, but not that faux kinda super sweet coconut. Near as I can tell, it’s the same Fix+ you and I know and love, and it’s good for setting your makeup or adding a quick hit of hydration to your skin.
I literally cannot stop spraying it on myself…
*spray* See, told you.
When MAC did a bunch of LE Fix+ scents a while back (remember when those sold out quickly?), Coconut Fix+ was in that mix. I think it’s gonna fly off the shelves this time again.
PLUS, IT’S JUST SO PRETTY!
And if you’re curious about the eyeshadow palettes…
The MAC Eye Shadow X 6 palettes: Oh My Banana is the best!
There are three X 6 palettes in the collection (all powder shadows), and Oh My Banana is my fave. It’s the one with gold, orange, cranberry and brown.
I don’t know if you agree, but I think there’s often a discrepancy between the quality of MAC’s LE shadows and their permanent collection products. To me, their permanent shadows are almost always better, but quality-wise the shadows in Oh My Banana seem right up there with MAC’s permanent line shadows. They’re MAC-caliber smooth, easy to blend, and they don’t irritate my eyes.
But the shadows in the other two palettes — Fruit a La La (with the red shadow) and Love in the Glades (with the blue and green)?
Questionable quality: Fruit a La La and Love in the Glades
I love both of the color combos, but the mattes in these two palettes seem a little… How shall I put it? Overripe?
They’re just kinda hard to blend, and the grains seem larger than usual, which for some reason bugs my water lines. With both Fruit a La La and Love in the Glades, I had to take off my eye makeup halfway through the day because my water lines kept watering.
I have sensitive eyes, but I dunno… Just my two cents.
Baiana Bronzer is bae.
Yes, I just used “bae” in a sentence and was serious about it, haha. You guys, this bronzer is BLOWING MY MIND RIGHT NOW.
This neutral matte bronze has a dollop of delish golden warmth. It’s rare to find a matte golden bronzer that isn’t too matte, and this one’s also smoother than soft serve, which takes it up to Covet Level 10. Don’t miss it.
And a pretty Pearlmatte Face Powder
Leave room in your fruit basket for Pearlmatte Face Powder, too, ’cause it’s all kinds of complex when you swirl the tan, yellow, pink and coral shades together (like a fab fruit salad).
The tan marvelously meshes with the pink, coral and yellow, and when the light lands on your cheeks just right, it reveals a touch of heavenly pearl.
At the very least, swatch these Lustre Drops
I’ve written about my love for these flexible, long-lasting liquid highlighters in depth before, and I still adore them. Their fine opalescent finish glows without glitter. It’s whisper of a highlight, but you can build them up with layers until you reach full power shimmer.
Bronze Hero is the darker of the two and the one I recommend if you’re NC42 or up. Sun Rush is lighter, but I bet it’ll work for just about everyone. Great stuff.
Lovin’ three of the lipsticks
Fuchsia Love at First Bite, creamy coral Shy Girl and violet Si Si Me are all must-haves. So much pigment! And they’re smooth too.
Personally, I would steer clear of Calm Heat (the palest matte shade), ’cause it’s not one of those easy mattes, ya know? It catches every single flake on my lips and refuses to apply evenly.
I’d hoped that these would all have a limited edition tropical fruit scent (because how cool would that have been?), but alas, they’re trademark MAC vanilla (as are the Lipglasses).
The Lipglasses
I love all four. ‘Nuff said. They’re glossy and moisturizing.
My favorite one, though, is warm peachy pink Cha-Cha-Cha. I wore it on top of Shy Girl Love at First Bite Lipstick yesterday, and together they’re the exact same color as a ripe dragonfruit.
Gonna wear that combo a TON this summer! 🙂
Tropical fruit smoothies for everyone! Cha, cha, cha. 🙂

Karen, where do I start? This collection is beautiful and your whole color story is beautiful. Your looks are stunning. But beyond that, I just want to say that the amount of work you put into your posts doesn’t go unnoticed. You are truly amazing and so creative!
Indya says
What she said! Everything is gorgeous!
Amy says
I can’t agree more with Agata. Truly satisfying posts, so much to see in this one and no stone goes unturned! These are also some of the best eye looks I’ve seen in a long time – complex yet wearable, creative yet doable. Thank you!

Gosh the moment I saw Baiana bronze I knew we were meant for each other, it seems to be the perfect bronzer for my skin tone.
Also Oh my passion looks so gorgeous but I’m on the fence about the color I think it’ll only work as a highlighter on me, and I don’t use a lot of highlighter.
And I agree with Amy and Agatha this collection is soooo gorgeous but the way you present it, is what makes it more awesome. Well done girl!

Oh Wow, I love your new blog look! So clean and fresh!
Nancy says
Karen, above you say that you wore Shy Girl yesterday. Yesterday’s post mentions wearing Love at First Bite. Can you please confirm. Thank You!
Karen says
Hi Nancy,
Thanks for catching that. The shade I wore yesterday is indeed Love at First Bite. 🙂
Nancy says
Thanks Karen!
I really like the combo which is why I wanted to clarify.

Every kind of food tastes better when someone else prpares it for you. At least for someone as lazy in the kitchen as I am.
Too bad about the green eyeshadow palette, it was the one I was eyeing, but as someone wearing contacts I can’t take the risk of them irritating my eyes.
Eleni says
The bronzer … I’m eyeing the bronzer and drops. You created such a beautiful and exotic look with this collection! Thanks for the great review and the amazing photos xx
Aditi says
Really love the new look of your blog, very refreshing – just like this new collection of MAC. I really appreciate the amount of hard work yo’ve put in designing your post in line with the collection. Kudos to that!
Any idea about launch of this collection in Australia?

I need it alllll!!

So much color and happiness in this collection! Everything looks fab on you, as always. Too bad about the quality of Love in the Glades because you’re usually rocking the blues and greens. I love the look of Fruit a La La in the palette, too (always like the reds and pinks). The coconut Fix+ sounds delish. 🙂

On a different outlet I’ve seen that this collection will be released on May 18th instead of the 28th. Would you have any information on this?
Karen says
Hi Jackie,
It’s May 18th. Thanks for letting me know about the typo.
Nicole says
So May 18th is the arrival date at say Nordstrom MAC counter? I need to be there opening day. Yes. I said need not want. These things look life sustaining. Thank you!!
Karen says
Hi Nicole,
The info I got from MAC pr said that May 18 is the in-store date and online date, so I’m assuming that includes Nordstrom MAC counters. You may want to call them to confirm though.
Nicole says
Thanks! I love your blog. Have a great day.

Liking the lips more than I thought I would and I’m bummed about the green palette, it was a very nice set of greens!
Rachel S. Runyan says
I adore the packaging! It’s a really pretty collection. The eyeshadows actually look pretty darn good for a MAC LE release.
Fancie says
This collection is so gorgeous!! Lord knows I want to buy it all just for the packaging lol. I love me some Fix+ and have been meaning to grab more so I guess now is my time with this beautiful bottle and yummy coconut formula. I’m definitely getting that Pearlmatte too. It’s just too stunning!

I missed the presale on the coconut Fix+ spray. I checked Mac’s web site this morning at 7:30 ET and it wasn’t up yet. Thought I’d lay down for a bit– and fell asleep. Woke up at 10, ran to the computer and it was up– and sold out. Darn! Checked Nordstrom quick, sold out. Tried Macy’s– they had it! So if you’re desperately looking for the coconut Fix+, try macys.com. I also bought the Cremesheen Glass in La Salsa. You were right Karen, that Fix+ went fast.
Adrienn says
Hi Karen, and for everyone!
I’m thinking to pick Si si me lipstick to my collection, but I’m hesitate if it is not like Girl about town, or any other shades already exist in Mac lipstick range?
Could anyone give me an advice?
