Apparently, retro is the new black.
At least it is according to MAC.
For the second year in a row, MAC is bringing power to the people with a collection of old-school MAC favorites hand-picked by their fans.
From now through July 21, vote for your favorite shadow and lipstick among a batch of pre-selected shades from the ’90s and 2000s on MAC’s Facebook page.
The three shadows and lipsticks with the most votes will go on sale again for an encore performance in a six-piece collection next spring called MAC By Request.
This time around, the nominees include six lipsticks and five eye shadows, all but one of which are pictured here…
I’m missing Tomango Lipstick, a matte bright orange from the 1990 Circa Pre collection, but hopefully the pics and swatches below help you decide.
Sorry, no face shots tonight… I thought they might cheer me up, but I’m just not feelin’ up to it.
Oh, you can also tweet your top picks on twitter using hashtag #MACBYREQUEST.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. I’m sorry if I seem a little out of it tonight, but I am. I’m still messed up about Shauna. Right now, I just want to go to sleep, but I do want to thank you very much for your nice comments. They mean a lot.

I am very sorry to hear about your dog. My thoughts are with you.
Is this the original Viva Glam? In the 90’s I would drive from RISD in Providence to pick up tubes at Henri Bendel in Chestnut Hill.

I’m very sorry to hear about your puppy Karen, my thoughts are with you. xx

So sad Karen.
Which colors do you want to see come back?

Thank you for these swatches. I can’t stop tearing up (ok straight up crying) because I went through a similar loss in 2010. To this day, I wish our pup was here to comfort us and light up our works in ways only he could. He was very old in dog years, and he was falling apart… But there was no way to prepare ourselves. We even cried in public for months afterward. Please take some time to grieve Shauna’s passing. Xoxo

Sorry for your loss karen..

My deepest sympathies to you and your family, Karen. When you take a pet in as part of the family, nothing can really prepare you for saying goodbye. I don’t think you should worry about seeming out of it on the blog, as all your readers should be understanding of this tough time. And it is most definitely not silly to grieve the loss of a family member. It sounds like Shauna was a very sweet girl and I know she’s now playing with my “cat brother” Sox up in heaven, where they no longer feel any pain or sickness.

I keep posting this on every blog, but would MAC stop with these shenanigans and just bring back my beloved Strada blush!!! I have two backups but I’m running scared. Please someone help me start a campaign 🙁

I’m sorry about wonder dog… I feel your pain quite sharply, having had to put my sweet Buddha boy Oscar down 3 weeks ago after his cancer consumed him. I bawled like a toddler and still miss him terribly. Love and hugs to you from Atlanta. xo

Only here for MAC RAZZ. I have never heard/seen any of these but I wan’t that one.

Oh, Karen – I’m so sorry about Shauna. From your descriptions, she was a wonderful companion. She was fortunate to have shared her life with you and your family and I know you’ll all miss her very much. I know it’s too soon to remember all the good times without it making you sad, but I hope you’ll be comforted by knowing what a happy life she had with your parents (and you and your brother, of course). It can be a cruel world for animals and I’m sure she was grateful for all your love. <3

I admire you for posting today even while you’re sad. I like fiction and rozz. Hope you feel better soon. Xoxo.

So very sorry for your loss. Pets are part of the family and it is very difficult losing them. My sympathies are with you. Take care of yourself and give yourself time to grieve.

I’m sorry Karen… I know when I’m down I buy and play with my makeup but sometimes nothing will do for that kind of loss 🙁 <3 hugs!

Sorry about your puppy. We had to put our dog to sleep last year because he was in pain all the time, and it was horrible. We had him 14 years and I still miss him. But, on the bright side, I was lucky to have such a great friend for so long. And he had a nice life with our family.

I like the first lipstick! I’m so sorry for Shauna 🙁
