Dayum, girl! These three MAC Art of Powder pans are bananas! B-A-N-A-N-A-S.
Is there a MAC counter at the MOMA now…?
The three-piece release of products inspired “…by the Masters & modern art movements” brushes onto North American MAC counters and breezes into stores September 29 (internationally next month).
Okay, these are some seriously soft powders, and get this — the designs are not simple oversprays. At least not as far as I can tell. Mind you, the last thing I want to do is go digging into these with a knife to see how far down into the pans the designs go, but all of them are embossed, etched into the pans. The patterns atop all of them, save the Street Art Eyeshadow, which does have silvery lineart that looks like an overspray to me, appear to go down deeper than one or two layers.
I’ll let you know just how deep down into the pans these designs go once I’ve really taken a brush to ’em, but either way, even if they are oversprays, they’re good oversprays at that.
Walk with me now, as we go on a little excursion tonight to a makeup museum, courtesy of MAC. 🙂
Street Art Eye Shadow, $38 U.S./$46 CDN

Optical Bronzer, $38 U.S./$46 CDN
Swatches of the Street Art Eyeshadow
Swatch of In The Abstract Highlighter
Swatch of Optical Bronzer
The designs are just so blasted pretty, aren’t they? And the Optical Bronzer is a total trip. If I move my head around when I look at it, I actually feel a little off balance, ha!
Yup, I think the Bronzer and Highlighter here are destined for daily rotation. More to follow…
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. So now that we’re finished with Friday, what’s on the menu for tonight? How does fro-yo sound? Taro with toasted coconut, or perhaps red velvet cake topped with brownie? Mmmm…

I don’t usually go for stuff like this, but I kinda NEED the Optical Bronzer! What a rad design…
As for what’s on the menu tonight, over here it’s a big bowl of pistachio gelato! 😀
Jessi says
Aw, I know the bronzer is CALLED a bronzer, but I was hoping more of the pink showed up than the bronze. Oh well, saves me some money. But now I might be interested in the highlighter…

Optical Bronzer looks uber cool! 🙂

Ya know, I’ve never really fallen into the trap of buying the Mac limited collections. I I’m spending full price on cosmetics (versus outlets and sales) , I like time to deliberate, and I fear falling in love with something LE. But as an artsy girl, these are just CALLING my name! I may have to indulge 🙂 it’s gonna be hard for me to use them though, they’re so pretty I won’t want to mess ’em up! I wish it was a bigger release, I’d love to see what they’d do with a variety of artistic inspirations, or even maybe designs inspired by specific artists. You know what needs to happen…pans inspired by Impressionism or pointillism. I’d be there first day of the release, snatching those babies up!!

LOVE the designs but i’m not feeling the shades or the pigmentation. which is just as good because i wouldn’t want to touch these anyway, they look so pretty :p.
Aileen says
Wow, these are GORGEOUS! I totally wouldn’t be able to use them though, I’d feel guilty ruining those pretty patterns!

Seeing these makes me want to go to the MOMA. I haven’t been in ages!
My frozen treat for the evening was green tea soy ice cream. YUM!
Marilyn @ Lipgloss and Spandex says
Those are so pretty, but I was a little underwhelmed by how the color showed up in the swatches. Do the patterns/colors wear off as you use it? My treat tonight is a lemon bar! mmm.

I like the artistry in these 3 pieces, but somehow I am not attracted to any of them. Great! Saves me some money and I can buy both MSFs from Fall Colour Collection. 😉

I’m normally sucker for pretty powders and cool palettes, but these ones are just not calling my name somehow. Now the Harodds exclusive Chanel Poudre Tissee blush/highlighter is quite another business…
Crystal says
Wow that Street Art Eye Shadow one is pretty, I couldn’t use it though it’s too pretty:)
Vijaya says
I’ll be getting ’em all ’cause they’re pretty!

The highlighter is beautiful! Hopefully, it’ll end up in my hands when these come out!

WOW!! Everything looks so pretty! I’d think anyone who gets their hands on them would stand for a minute or two, just admiring the beautiful designs of these products, before lightly putting a finger into them to swatch. Haha.. I look forward to seeing them in Singapore!
Chris25 says
The eyeshadow looks especially beautiful, but I would hate to ruin that lovely artwork!
Amanda A. says
omg that bronzer, i die. I would love to have that in my collection but never use it! It’s way too pretty!
Lily says
Wow that’ some pretty designs. The swatches, however, are quite disappointing
Teri says
I wonder if that bronzer might work for fair-skined gals… it looks amazing in the pan!
Emma RZ says
I love the designs so much that I’d never use them, just look at them and that would be a waste of money. Maybe if they ever turned up at CCO I might get them but I still wouldn’t want to use them 🙂
Kim says
These are sweet. I love the look of the Optical Bronzer in the pan. So cool!
Laura Lee Holmes says
Good golly, usually I have a crush on one product of a collection, but the date of pickup for these glorious shades is securely in the phone. They’re so poppy and sweet in the most flattering way.
Brian aka Roulette says
Wow that bronzer looks TOTALLY different than I imagine it would in the swatch. Amazing. Very pretty.
Mariana says
I didn’t think the highlighter would look that amazing! I think I just fell in love.
Kristine Ayala says
Damn.. these are gorgeous. Why, MAC, why must you take all my money?! FAIL.
