I mean, let’s be real here. Unless you regularly strut your stuff down a runway in Milan or bust your best moves in a Fiat commercial a la J. Lo, who can make booty shorts and glitter look totally legit on a sidewalk at 10 a.m. on a rand-o Tuesday afternoon, glitter isn’t always the easiest thing to pull off.
Don’t get me wrong — I love the sparkly stuff, but because I wear it so often for the blog, sometimes I feel like I look like an extra in the upcoming Jem and the Holograms movie.
Truly outrageous!
Yup, whatcha gonna do? 🙂
I think glitter is tons of fun, and if you do, too, you might want to direct your mouse to maccosmetics.com, where the seven new 3D Glitters ($21 each) are sparkling now.
These holographic hotties have hexagonal, multicolored glitter flecks that put on a sparkly rainbow show.
I saw them in action last week at the San Francisco Academy of Art University fashion show, where the MAC makeup artists working backstage applied the 3D Black Glitter to the lower lash lines on the models.
Dude! When those girls rocked the runway, the glitter was definitely eye catching, and yet somehow still tasteful.
Ironically, the 3D Glitters have a warning on each box that says, “Keep entirely clear of eye area.” (IT’S EVEN IN ALL-CAPS.)
Yup, you know how it is. Any time you have glitter anywhere near your eyes, you always have to be extremely careful (an errant fleck of glitter could scratch your eyes!). Just be aware that these are not officially approved for use around the eye area.
I’m most excited about getting these — especially 3D Silver — on my lips and nails. Of the seven, it’s the one with the largest flecks of glitter.
SO FUN! I’m thinking 3D Silver + MAC Impassioned Lipstick + a clear Lipglass…
And then I’m thinking, go to the bank! — or some other place where people normally go while looking somewhat responsible, haha!
You can find the seven new $21 MAC 3D Glitters now at maccosmetics.com (they’re coming soon to MAC counters and stores).
Speaking of Jem…
Now THAT’s a birthday cake I could really sink my teeth into (she said with a sudden urge of overwhelming emotion!).
Seriously, where was this cake when I was 8?!
Hmm… My birthday is next month. I wonder…
Shoot! Something tells me that one should probably be celebrating a single-digit birthday to get a cake like this (it’s not fair!).
Plus, that’s a LOT of cake, and El Hub isn’t really into cake, so I’d probably end up having to eat most of it. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Glamour and glitter, fashion and fame… Indeed 🙂

Truly, truly, truly outrageous!
LOL!

GLITTER!! I just love glitter lol. These are all so pretty! I don’t know which ones to get first. I already have 3D Gold. So maybe I’ll start with the black or silver. Maybe pink. I just want them all!
Chelsea says
Oooh, glitter! I’ll take any excuse to wear it, my office probably wouldn’t care too much…
I saw a group dressed as Jem and the Holograms a couple Halloweens ago, I was super excited.
Karen says
That’s awesome. Rock that glitter to the office! Maybe a little on the lash line? (Side note – please tell me you have at least one Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in your life!)
I would get exited if I saw a group dressed up as Jem and the Holograms, too, LOL!
Chelsea says
I don’t have one of the UD liners, so bad! I need one!

Oh boy! It’s nearly impossible to decide which one to get. The Pale Mint rocks my socks – but so does the Silver – and the Platinum!! LOL! Love your blog! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Jaime,
The Pale Mint is killer. Can you see it in a mint mani? YUM!

Fact: everything in life is better with glitter 😀
I love the lavender glitter, the pink and platinum best, I think! I keep meaning to do glitter lips, but I don’t own any cosmetic clitter, sadly…
Erin says
These look fun but I can’t see myself wearing them!
Fieran says
The glitter is gorgeous. The most glittery/sparkly thing I wear to work is either Bobbi Brown’s Sparkle eyeshadow (All Spice is a gorgeous shade – you might like it) or MAC’s Pressed Pigment. But I have to really use a good sticky base for these to last the work day.
Regarding the cake – you *NEED* it Karen. Single digit or double digit – that’s completely fine 🙂 You can freeze the cake and eat it slowly – like over 6 months or something.

I’m glad they put the non-eye safe warning on it. Far too many people (myself included when I was younger) have tried to create eye looks using non-eye use glitter, not knowing it’s unsafe.
Danielle says
These look cool! Are they limited edition?
