Blues and Greens with MAC Art Supplies and MAC Trip

Published in: Face of the Day (FOTD), MAC Makeup

Howzit, holmes? Hasn’t this felt like a long week? I woke up this morning feeling very (see picture above).

Because a little color always helps, I reached for the MAC Trip Cool Eyes Palette and a few things from MAC Art Supplies, as well as Benefit’s permanent collection and a Lancome mascara.

In a little while I was feeling 100% better and kinda like this…

It’s amazing how much a bit of brightness can help! :)

Eyes: MAC Greasepaint Stick in Slick Black (lid), MAC Eyeshadow in Waternymph (lid), MAC Eyeshadow in Springtime Skipper (crease), MAC Eyeshadow in Prismique (brow bone), MAC Eyeshadow in Flashtrack (outer lid), MAC Technakohl in Graphblack (waterlines), MAC Pearlglide Liner in Petrol Blue (lashlines), Lancome Hypnose Drama (lashes); Cheeks: Benefit Sugarbomb (apples), Benefit Hoola (contour beneath apples); Lips: MAC Pro Longwear Lipstain in Modern Mocha, Benefit Lipgloss in Fresh Squeezed

Yay, ladies! Friday’s around the corner. :) Do you have any plans this weekend? I’m hoping to go see How to Train Your Dragon and maybe pick up a few pointers for Tabs.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Ooh I love the blues! And you look great! Have I told you that I love your hair? :D
I’ll be spending this weekend dreading the start of school. Sounds like fun, right? BUT I’m also going to the Container Store and finally buying some things to organize my makeup with, which I’m pretty excited for. I’m *so* tired of having to dig around in a drawer for ages to find one freakin’ eyeshadow :/

    It looks like peacock feather!

I think I need to start organizing my room (with all the lipsticks lying around) and clean out some toys I never use…

  6. Cupcake says:

I love the shadows, they are really beautiful!!! but what happened to your foundation? your face looks a bit grey and lifeless… and you have a really nice color skin ( so we see in you arms, but the face it’s so different even from other pictures !) Mr. Foundation bring Karen back!!!!

    • shivotra says:

Its actually very common for colored people to have darker arms and legs than face. My face is paler than my arms and legs too. Maybe because my face is the only place I slather on SPF at. So I think her foundation is right. If you wear a foundation shade thats dark, it makes you look very dull. Personally and this is not to belittle your comment at all – I think her face is glowing.

  7. Catherine says:

Oh man, Waternymph and Springtime Skipper look so amazing on you!

Plans? Haircut. My fringe is driving me batty!

I’ll also be spending about 5 hours praying to the weather gods for some warmer weather. This weather is ridiculous! I want my 70 degree weather!!!!! Why is it so cold?! It’s March people! It’s a bone-chilling SEVENTEEN DEGREES, with wind chill. Even Zena won’t go outside. I need heat. I need spring. I need sunshine!!!

You know what’s really ironic though. It may be colder than a witch’s broom but my allergies are in high gear. Nothing better than a sinus headache to start spring off. Darned trees.

  12. amy says:

The teals look gorgeous on you. How do you like the Slick Black greasepaint stick as oppose to the Black from last year? Do you think it is worth it to pick up a pure black?

Before I actually read what you used, I would have guessed you used the blue Greasepaint in the collection because the blue is so bright! I thought the black base with eat the colour up, but this look proved me wrong.

I’m so excited for this collection, I just can’t wait! I’m going straight to the mall right after work on the 1st. But it’s weird that they release on April fool. Is that a trap?

P.S. I don’t know if I want to recreate the look (’causeI don’t wear too much bright colours), but I definitely want to recreate your pose in the first pic. That’s just pure fun lol.

  15. Oh wow. You look super hot, Karen! Seriously, I am loving the teal eyes. I’m a little confused about what product brings that color, is it Waternymph or Springtime Skipper? Sorry for asking a silly question, it’s just that I WANT it now, that’s how awesome it looks! :D

  16. You look great!! Its cool how you used a black base on the lids.. the look turns out to be a smokey peacocky look! :)

How are you liking the lipstain markers? Do they wear off evenly?

  19. NINA says:

    Tabs is your dragon! :D

I love the look – the eyeshadows are awesome and goes well with the rest of the FOTD. I love your shirt too – my fave color is green!

Im excited for this MAC collection … more so than any other collection released so far, but not as much as the cat collection (if it is for real, that is!).

Finally Friday woohoo!!! Were going walking after work, then off to Borders and dinner!!!

  20. Scientific Housewife says:

    Love the blue on you!

  21. Toni says:

Looks awesome, Karen! Love those colors on you. I am now really wanting to order that MAC Trip Cool Eyes palette.

Hubby has been travelling a lot and is going out of town next week again. So, he’s taking care of the kids tomorrow and I am going shopping for our upcoming vacation. Unfortunately, one of the things I need to look for is a swimsuit, but I will counter that by shopping for some new sunglasses and makeup!

Hope you have a great weekend!

  22. Petra says:

What a gorgeous look! Which one is that shiny lid and browbone colour mix.
ANd I’m plannig to go see the same movie, maybe even today. :) Almost done at work. (well, who am I kidding. I’m reading Your blog, obviously i’m done here. :) )

  23. Kate says:

Karen, seriously – what is in the water out there? I’m not joking, in the last month or two, your pictures have gone from HAWT to OUT OF THIS WORLD FREAKING GORGEOUS! You seriously GLOW! It’s not even the makeup, either, it’s the whole shebang.

Also, those greens, blues and teals look amazing on you – they really compliment your skin tone!

    • Suji says:

      I totally agree!

Karen you’ve been looking so beautiful lately! Love this colorful look – makes me dream of summer :)

It’s ok, just need to tweak for next time. I used my Tarte palette in “Flower Child” I tried the 2nd look from the “cheat sheet”
I think mine will be a bit more like yours next time

  27. Meghan says:

love that look! i love the colors and i love that you used sugarbomb on the cheeks and contoured with hoola. that’s my favorite cheek look!

  28. lexi says:

LOVE IT GIRL – hot! I did an inspired purple eye today inpired by your look yesterday. I busted out some UD’s colors that I have sadly neglected. you may inpsire me to play with some blues I have hidden in the bottom of my makeup case – they are waiting for their destiny to be depotted in another MAC 15 pan palette that I’m planning on buying. Wow, I have so much e/s to last me 2 lifetimes. I just wished I could get the feeling that I do have enough makeup. I guess not in this lifetime.

No plans for me – too broke – maybe rent ‘Whip It’ on demand. I love that movie – I can watch it over and over again. Hopefully next weekend I can catch a matinee of The Runaways. I am hoping Kristen Stewart portrayes Joan Jett respectively!

  29. Ada says:

Oh Karen! I’m trying to resist buying this palette and you’re not helping! LOL. I love those colours!

My son’s got his last hockey game tomorrow so we’ll all go to that. Then it’s cleaning frenzy ’cause the in-laws are coming for a visit.
    Enjoy your weekend!

Wow, Karen, you look HAWT!! and I mean that in a very PC-way!! LOL I’m thinking that i need that TRIP pallete, even though I have a couple of this colors in SINGLE form, it’s nice to have them in a palette for on-the-go!

This weekend, I’m in final PREP mode for Monday’s surgery. I should be home recouping by mid-week. Tomorrow is PEDI-day with some friends and then we’re surging to Target to look for those new brushes!!

Please let me know if the movie is worth it, or if I should wait for the DVD……

    • Karen says:

I can’t believe that it’s time! I can still remember when you told me a few months ago that you got the approval!

Are you all prepped? I know you had a bunch of stuff to do before you went in…

  32. Sarah R says:

I LOVE your hair in these pics!!! Did you get it highlighted? Or I guess it’s called lo-lights..

  33. Nicole says:

The teals looks AMAZE on you! Love that first pic. haha. That’s the main reason I check out your blog is because of your quirkiness. You don’t take this makeup biz too serious.

    xo

  34. Kristen says:

Super gorgeous! I love your looks (and your blog) and this look is one of my faves of yours!

  35. Nancy says:

oooooooh, tell me what you think if you ended up seeing “How to Train…” wanted to take the family to see it, but the hubbie made a feast of ribeyes, shrimp, baked potatoes and salad for dinner, and the girls wanted to stay in to see the new movie on the disney channel tonight. my life is so glamorous! :)

My plans for the weekend are finishing up my dress for my friend’s “Anything but clothes” party. My look is gonna put Lady Gaga to shame! My dress has blue accents, I think I’m gonna replicate your look for the party.

  38. julie says:

I agree with everyone here – these colors are fantastic on you! I am a little disappointed that the Petrol Blue looks so teal as I was hoping it would be more blue. Well nevermind I’m sure I’ll find something else I like in this collection!
