Whew! There has been so much good makeup lately.
I mean, I used to get more excited about moody fall colors, but this year the spring and summer collections have been incredible! Literally, every time I turn around, I’m seeing another gorgeous collection.
If your head has been spinning a little like mine, then I hope you’ll like my picks for some of the best spring/summer makeup launches. I’d also love to hear yours.
I think I’ll start with lips, because I think a new lipstick or gloss is probably the easiest way to update your look.
Lips
First up, the Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint by Tarte, and I have the shade called Double Tap (here are swatches of the full range in this post).
I’m wearing cool-toned nude Double Tap in these pics, but I usually go for warmer-toned peaches and pinks. Thing is, this mauve is just so pretty and different from the rest of my stash. It’s opaque and not sticky at all.
Next, Buxom Wildly Whipped Lightweight Liquid Lipstick, and I just mentioned the shade called Swinger in my roundup of my favorite liquid lipsticks, so I’ll be brief now: the color and formula are AMAZING. This one is perfect for summer.
Of course, I couldn’t talk about this season’s new launches without mentioning beautiful ColourPop Dohee.
Here’s a snap of me wearing it from my Spring Haul video.
And I can’t forget to add the Lancome Juicy Shakers to the list! I’ve been reaching for these sheer and shiny moisturizing glosses (Apri-Cute is shown here) constantly.
Here are pictures of me wearing Apri-Cute and pinky Berry Tale in this post.
Eyes
One of my favorite collections this season was MAC Soft Serve. I think all of the Soft Serve Eyeshadows are awesome, but the ones I like best are peach Cushy Life and mint green Jealous Girl, both of which are easy to pop on for a soft wash of color and sparkle.
Along those same lines, I also reach for metallic yellow gold Chanel Stylo Eyeshadow in Beige Dore a lot, which I talk about in my May Favorites post. It’s also a breeze to use but a bit more dramatic than the MAC Soft Serve Eyeshadows.
ColourPop Wattles is also a fave. It’s a very subtle satin mauve/pink, and I’m wearing it in the picture below to softly define my eyes.
Wattles was part of ColourPop’s spring collection from a couple months ago (here are swatches of the rest of the collection in this post on my blog).
My final summer eye makeup favorite is the Jouer Mermaid Eyeshadow Palette because Jouer totally nailed it with these colors! They’re so pigmented, smooth, and beautiful that I haven’t even brought myself to wear them yet!!
I’m so glad I stalked their website to buy it a couple weeks ago because it’s sold out on Jouer’s site now. But it’s still available at Frends, and it’s supposed to also be coming to Nordstrom soon.
Face
Now here are my top picks for best spring/summer face products, and I hope you like them as much as I do.
First things first, I have to include the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Palette because I LOVE it! — but it’s likely sold out right now. But if you’re curious, here’s a quick demo I did in this video.
From recent blushes, I’m head over heels in love with MAC x Chris Chang Cream Colour Base in Rich Coral.
I fell for it when I saw it on Jen in this post here and prompty went out and got it. It gives such a pretty, natural flush.
And you know I can’t forget Becca Luminous Blush!
This one is Camellia, but I’m a loving parent and won’t choose favorites amongst my children :-). You can see more swatches and pics in this post here.
As far as new spring/summer highlighters, my favorite is the PUR Cosmetics Sunkissed Glow Strobe/Highlight Palette.
Lots of brands have their own highlighting palettes, but this one’s cream-to-powder finish really stands out to me. Of course it’s easy to blend, but it also sort of dries to a powder finish, so it doesn’t feel too dewy or wet on my skin, and that’s a MUST for these warmer months.
If you’re looking for a new foundation, the best one I found this spring/summer is Giorgio Armani Maestro Glow Nourishing Fusion Makeup. I’ve worn it in a ton of my blog posts and haven’t found another one that’s this super lightweight and glowy (here are swatches and a review in this post).
Alright, it’s your turn now! What have you L-O-V-E-D from this year’s spring and summer makeup launches?
Cherie says
Wow! Your photos are stunning! I love the way you put your look together. So glowy! You are so right about heads spinning…this year there have been sooo many beautiful collections, its been really hard to resist!
Adia says
Thanks Cherie! The trouble is that I haven’t been resisting :-/. I went on a No Buy for June to try to balance things out a bit, but goodness, there is just too much good stuff!
Erin says
I’ve been wanting to try that foundation but I’m worried about the texture of my skin making it look a bit bad.
Adia says
Hey Erin, the GA foundation is really thin so it won’t cover any texture issues you may have, but I don’t think it’ll highlight any imperfections either. It would probably make for a messy tester since it’s so liquid-y but it’s worth checking out 🙂
Lulle says
I just received my Becca x Jaclyn Hill face palette yesterday!
Some of my favorite this year include: the Juicy Shakers of course, as well as Lancôme’s new Cushion Blush (crazy pigmented), the limited edition Guerlain Météorites Pearls Carousel, Clarins Lip Oil in Red Berry… I’m sure there are others but they’re the ones that come to mind!
Adia says
Isn’t the palette amazing! I’m really loving my Lancome cushion foundation lately, so now I’m curious about the blush. Cushion products are so fun! You have some great picks Lulle!
Nicole says
I’ve been loving the Becca x Jaclyn Hill face palette as well!
Adia says
I’m obsessed. I sometimes use the blushes for eyeshadows too!
Kiss & Make-up says
Great choice of lip colors 😀
Adia says
Thanks! I’ve been trying to step away from the nudes that I usually go for!
Carolyn says
I love all of your picks! I agree that spring/summer makeup has been amazing this year. You look gorgeous!
Adia says
Thanks Carolyn…I *almost* hope we get a break with new releases just so my wallet can take a breather LOL.
Amanda says
Your curls look so pretty in these pics!
Adia says
Thank you Amanda!

These photos are like turning through pages of a top magazine — your looks are stunning.
Adia says
Aw thanks Chris, that is so sweet!!

Your pics are stunning! And the hair? What did you do differently? I dunno but it works. Now let’s see, spring collections. I actually haven’t bought much this spring. Car woes have eaten into my makeup money. But I did buy two blushes from Becca that I’m in love with: Nightingale & Hyacinth. They’re both stunning but Hyacinth is my favorite. Bought a new blush from MAC yesterday that’s not springlike at all but I couldn’t resist it. Film Noir. It’s such s rich, deep color on my NC50 complexion. I’m eyeing the new blush palette from Lorac. The colors are beautiful & seem brown girl friendly. 🙂
Adia says
Hey girlie! Thank you!! For my hair, I changed the direction of how I do my twists. Normally I twist them going back, but for these pictures I twisted them out from the top of my head, so that’s why there’s more volume in the front. Hope that makes sense LOL. I’ve been eyeing Hyacinth ever since I saw it’s coming out as one of the blush/highlighter duos from Becca tomorrow! It’s such a vibrant color.
LindaLibraLoca says
The picture of you holding the Becca palette is so pretty!
Adia says
Aw thank you Linda!
Nicole says
Best look yet. And those curls!
Adia says
Thanks Nicole!
yelena says
great pics!
question for you: what formula of lip products from colourpop do u like most?
I’ve only ever tried the “Ultra Satin Lip” in Frick’n’Frack and while I love the color, (this would look lovely on you actually) I hate that it never dries completely and transfers everywhere!
which lip product (formula) would you recommend from Colourpop?
Also, I’m curious to try other products from this brand/line, perhaps you can do a favorites of the colourpop line (lips, eyes, face etc included)
Thanks Adia~!
Adia says
Hi Yelena! Hmm, I used to LOVE the ultra matte formula by CP but I think I’m sort of going through liquid lipstick fatigue so I prefer the Ultra Satin Lip even though it does transfer. I’m also really enjoying the brand new Ultra Metallic Lip and will have a swatch video up this week on my YouTube channel :-). With so many products out from ColourPop, I’d love to do a “Best of” type of post soon – thanks so much for the suggestion! Look out for it on my blog in the next couple of weeks 🙂
