In this post Audrey from Pop Culture & Make-Up Addict shares a bridesmaid-inspired makeup look featuring MAC Cosmetics.
My makeup addiction started about a year ago, so I’m still learning which colors go with what.
When I had the honor of being a bridesmaid for the wedding of one of my best friends, I thought it would be fun to visit my local MAC salon for a makeup consultation.
Our dresses were a bright fuschia, and I wasn’t sure what eyeshadow colors to wear. I had the makeup consultation done a week before the wedding to give myself enough time to play around with everything and decide on my look.
The MAC makeup artist recommended the following…
- Eyes: Shale on the lid, Seedy Pearl as the highlight, Blackberry in the crease, Macroviolet fluidline on the lash lines
- Cheeks: Stark Naked blush
- Lips: Plum Dandy lipstick with Morning Glory lustreglass (can’t remember the lip pencil)
I definitely liked her cheek and lip recommendations, so I picked up those… I liked the eyes, too, but thought they were a little too purple and wanted something more neutral.
With the artist’s help, I finally decided on the following look for my eyes. It allowed me to use some colors I already had in my collection.
- Seedy Pearl on the inner third of the lid
- Shale on the outer two thirds of the lid
- Satin Taupe in the crease, outer V, and lower lash line
- Yogurt as the highlight
- Phloof! in the inner tear duct and a touch in the arch under the brow
Here’s how I looked on the day of the wedding!
And here’s a closer look. 🙂

I must agree I like your take on this combo better than the MA’s work.. Yours look a lot more polished 🙂 Very purty!!

What a lovely look! I really like Seedy Pearl, I’m going to look that one up the next time I’m at MAC! 🙂

I like your version of the look better! I think you were spot on to be a bit more neutral in your make up since the dress color was bright. Very nice!

While I appreciate makeup artists advice I make many tweaks from their suggestions
This look is really awesome! Reminds me of flower petals 🙂

That looks stunning!!!
You were right to go a bit less.

I take it all with a grain of salt. If the advice they give me is something I would have done anyway, perfect. If not, I consider it, but usually do it my own way. As you’ve proven here, it’s often best to go with your own instincts. Great job! It’s hard to believe you’ve only been at it for a year because you blend like a pro and you have a good eye for what colors go well together.

Karen – Thanks so much for including my post on your blog. I love your site so this is very exciting for me! 🙂 Hope you are enjoying Hawaii!
Luv J – Thanks for the compliment!
Glosslizard – Yes, Seedy Pearl is really pretty! Like a pale iridescent lavender… I definitely need to figure out how to incorporate it in more looks.
Nina – Exactly! I knew how bright my dress would be so I wasn’t sure how an all purple eye would look.
YadiQ – Ooh, flower petals! I never thought of it that way – thanks!
Bomi – Aw, thanks!
Sole – Thanks! For me, I absolutely rely on my arsenal of brushes for good blending, I’m helpless without them!

Oooh, I like! I have a wedding to attend around the bend, and ironically while I can’t stand wearing pink clothes, I might take these pink/purples for a spin. They look so good on your skin tone (which is like mine).

This is a very pretty look. I have most of the e/s you used, except shale so maybe I can try it at home! Thanks for the inspiration.
