Ann Taylor, babe. Ann. Taylor. She’s my BFF when it comes to costume jewelry.
That’s really the only kind of jewelry I wear on a daily basis — costume jewelry. I mean, I have my wedding and engagement rings, but everything else — earrings, necklaces, bracelets — it’s almost entirely costume, because I know myself. I gotta be careful. I lose the good stuff, and I don’t want to be stressed out worrying, “OMG! I can’t do it! I can’t lose these earrings!!!”
I have costume pieces from super bargain level like Forever 21 to pricier costume pieces from indie lines and brands like Kate Spade and Ann Taylor, but Ann Taylor is my current favorite. The pieces are well made and last. Seriously, I’ve banged ’em up, but they still look new.
Ann’s style is classic and conservative (for costume), but not boring to me at all, and she always adds an extra flourish of some kind to keep things looking modern.
The prices are great for what you get. Ann Taylor’s necklaces, and really all of their jewelry, is a little pricey…but it’s not as expensive as Kate Spade, for instance. They may charge $100 for an intricate, fancy necklace, but here’s the thing: You don’t have to pay full price. I get all of my Ann Taylor jewelry, like this layered pearl necklace, during their kick-@ss 50% off sales.
And this necklace goes with everything from a casual white t-shirt to a fancy black dress. I love it! I pounced when I saw it on sale for 50% off.
So, yeah. It’s Ann Taylor for me. How about you?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. How’s your Thursday coming along? I had to help my family with something yesterday, so I was offline more than usual. What did I miss?

Erik is still in super destructo iron grip mode at 10.5 months, so the only jewelry I’m wearing these days are rings (but I make up for it by wearing 5 of them ever day). When I worked in an office, I had a lot of costume stuff from Target and Forever 21 – but what really lasted well were the pieces I got on sale at Banana Republic. Nowadays, I am more likely to wear the same thing over and over (and only really casual chunky costume since half the time I dress like a teenage boy ?) so I need silver or gold because my skin chemistry/sweatiness will eat through faux finishes and plating really fast. But I’m more likely to look to Etsy for more affordable options. I got a couple silver rings from Target during a sale but they’re so thin, they get really bent out of shape.

For the longest time I kept buying jewelry at J.Crew for my daughter. Lately, it all seems “same old, same old”. Got a few really unique pieces at Coach too, before they started putting their logo and name all over everything. I have a few classic, go to pieces I reach for all the time, so I’ve decided to downsize the unused portion of my jewelry collection.
For a second there, I thought you had gotten a haircut and then I realized you just put your hair up in back. Either way, you have hair that I am jealous of. Lol.

I barely wear any jewelry these days. Just when my daughter outgrew her grab and pull phase I was heavily pregnant and now my son is grabbing and pulling on everything he can reach. But most of my jewelry is costume jewelry, with the exception of a few inherited pieces that I rarely wear.

I love pearls (real and costume). I have a strand of real pearls that my mom gave me to wear on my wedding day that I keep safe as I am like you, put real jewelry on me and I lose it. For costume stuff, i love Carolee. I love the twisted choker look with different textures. I don’t wear that much normally, but every now and then I wear a necklace. I have a beaded a necklace that I wear that belonged to my aunt and I inherited it when she died about five years ago. Every time I wear it, I get compliments on it.

I love The Charming Cherub, which I found at a local art fair a few years ago. Lots of handmade jewelry made with antique lace, broken china pieces, hearts, teeny doll heads, etc. They travel around the country quite a bit. The website is http://www.thecharmingcherub.com.
