My eyes got all anime-sized huge when I saw this polka-dot jumpsuit from across the room…
Oh, Anthropologie, I’ll never understand your mysterious powers. How did you make me think I could actually wear polka dots from head to toe and have it look totally legit? I think it has something to do with your music or the store’s lighting… I dunno. Or it’s some kind of weird fashion voodoo.
In theory I like this outfit by Whit Two ($168) a lot. It comes in petite and regular sizes, for one thing, so I wouldn’t have to hem the pant legs. Then there’s the polka dots, which to me are timeless, like stripes and leopard print.
And then there’s also the black and white angle (again, never goes out of style), and how the whole thing is a complete one-piece outfit, so you just throw it on and you’re freakin’ done.
I also get a ’40s screen siren vibe from it, which is a style I LOVE, and I was already making a mental list of all the matte red lipsticks I was gonna wear with it.
Then I tried it on…
When I zipped up the back in the dressing room and saw myself in the mirror, I actually said, “This is SO not happening,” before promptly cracking up, LOL!
You know how some outfits look totally fine from certain angles, but then when you face the mirror full on they just look wrong?
Yeah, instead of feeling like Bette Davis or Katherine Hepburn in it, I felt like I was about to emerge from a very small car with 12 very tiny clowns.
Hey, at least I can say I tried, right? 🙂 Because you never know when it comes to clothes. Sometimes the things you think you’ll never wear end up being super cute.
Aaand sometimes they don’t.
Would you wear this black and white polka-dot jumpsuit? Inquiring minds want to know…
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

5 million percent I would wear this!! The red bag totally compliments it.
I typically stay away from patterns but I LOVE this!
I love how you’re dancing in the fitting room!! Treat yourself…this is fab!!

It looks SO cute on the mannequin! And actually, it does look nice on you in the first photo, but I totally know what you mean about the clown pants. I hate it when I have visions of myself in something and they fall flat in the dressing room!

Hell yeah, I would! It’s so haute! And, personally, I think you look great in it. Totally don’t see mini car with tiny clowns. I say throw on a pair of sandals with a mad (yet comfy) heel & channel your inner Audrey Hepburn. An open-toed sling back heel and a cute pedi + a matte red = buy the outfit, Karen 🙂
Kwmechelle says
Totally didn’t mean to say sling back heels. I actually meant high heel sandals with an ankle strap. Though either type would work I guess 🙂

I could wear a polka dot total look but here I don’t think the cut of is jumpsuit is very flattering. Pants are too wide, and top is not structured enough imo. If it was more fitted it would look a lot better.

I think it looks awesome on you!

I did the jumpsuit deal in the late 80’s and there’s nothing more annoying than taking off the whole thing to go to the bathroom.
The jumpsuit is cute and looks great on you 🙂
Monica.

I would so totally wear this! If it wear a better fit for us all 😀 I would totally rock this with some red wedges and a black cardigan, so 1940s!
Nicole says
First, the candles in Anthropologie make me want to buy all the things. Second, jumpsuits are cute when you buy them, but not so cute when you gotta go pee (sorry, not sorry). Finally, check out Gorman when you get a chance, I suspect you’ll like their clothes. Prepare your peepers for bulgitude, stuff is expensive yet super cute.
Nicole says
Too many cutes – epic fail.
Kiss & Make-up says
Maybe! I am actually waiting for an order to come in with my very first jumpsuit! Yeah, I know, I am so late to the party, lol 🙂 And it’s actually a playsuit. Fingers crossed I’ll love it!
lena says
looks awesome on you actually. maybe you will like it more with heels or wedges?
i like playsiits, and actually so not mind the hassle that comes with them come bathroom break time…
Pamela Haddad says
But I would and currently do wear a polka-dot dress. I love it!
LipstickHoarder says
I would TOTALLY wear it! Add a red belt, red lip and youre good to go!

Like you I’m vertically challenged. But unlike you, I am not slender, so no way I’d wear all polka dots. In fact, I tend to shy away from prints and patterns, especially on my bottom half. I think you pulled that off pretty well. The one thing that’s bothering me about the jumpsuit is the pocket on the bodice. It just seems way too large or out of place, particularly since the polka dots don’t like up with the rest of the top.
You have great style!
LindaLibraLoca says
I had to go for maybe because I would need to try it first. When I saw it I got the same vibes as you got, thinking Hollywood waves, red lips and a cocktail, but with these things it is all about the fit. Too tight or too loose at one point and all is lost…
Nicole - Beyond the Pale and Freckled says
I feel like that style outfit and pattern needs just the right body type to be really flattering. Maybe tall and lanky! Or tall and curvy, if the legs are the right width. Tricky business. But love the fantasy of it, doubt it would look any better on my actual body. 😀
Rachel R. says
Absolutely! It’s really cute, yet chic.
Natalye says
I think I might wear this, it looks retro 🙂

I actually like that on you. With a straw fedora and some cute wedges I think it would be fun. I would wear it if I was thinner and taller. I think it would look better if you were taller too!
