Oh! I have a good one.
I was in my early 20s at the time. I got an invite to a house party, but it was a themed house party, where you had to show up all dressed in white. I can’t remember why that was the theme or who hosted the shindig, but what I do remember is the epic makeup mishap that happened at home as I was about to walk out the door.
My hair and makeup were done, and I vaguely recall wearing white eyeliner on the water line to match my all-white ensemble, haha! As if anyone other than a makeup lover would have noticed. Suddenly, with my purse and keys in hand, I realized that I’d forgotten to set my foundation with powder.
*shakes head*
So, genius that I am, instead of taking the extra 60 seconds to find a pressed compact with translucent powder, something like MAC Blot for instance, I grabbed the closest thing on the bathroom shelf — a huge jar of tinted loose powder in a honey caramel color. I think it was from BECCA.
Of course, because I was running late (what, me late?), I was hurrying, and ya know, butterfingers and all…I opened the jar with a little too much “enthusiasm.”
The lid flew open, fell to the floor and BOOM! A mushroom cloud of honey colored powder exploded in my bathroom.
Powder was all over the place — the floor, the walls, on my face, in my hair, and yes, all over my white party outfit.
HOT MESS.
Needless to say, I didn’t make it to the party… I spent the rest of the evening cleaning powder off myself and every surface in the bathroom.
Good times. 🙂

I’ve had the same problem, but on a smaller scale – while powdering with a brush, some specks fell on my light shirt and just wouldn’t come off… Thank goodness I’m pale and so are my powders!
I also forgot once an opened lip lacquer sample (some kind of pill-like packaging) in my purse and it got all over the pocket it was in…

I once dropped a bottle of nail polish, spilling it all over my pants and the curtains + wall I was sitting next to. I tried tot rub it off with remover but it didnt work…

When I saw worst handbag, it made me think of this stonewash, denim drawstring purse I had back in the 80s. My friend had the exact same one and we thought it was the greatest. Thinking back, it was absolutely hideous and I don’t know what I was thinking! 🙂 I actually wish I still had it b/c it would be a great accessory for an 80s themed Halloween costume. TGIF!

I had one of those in black. It went with my jeans! LMAO

I think back to high school where at some point me and all my makeup wearing friends would at one time or another have a container holding either pressed powder, eye shadow or blush somehow come open, get knocked against something or who knows what we were teenagers) and all the powder would be over EVERYTHING in your purse. You would never, ever see that poor purse again.

My most recent one was a few weeks ago. I was ready to go out in my black and white dress and decided to put a little more blush on. But i was using Benefit’s Benetint and spilled a little on my dress :(. Luckily I was able to fix it, but I was upset to waste my favorite blush.

Just last week I was running late and didn’t have time to put on my mascara. When I got to work, I was putting it on and dropped the wand. It left a trail of mascara all down the front of my shirt and on the sleeve of my cardigan where I caught it in the bend of my arm. It was not a good start to my day.

I have the lipstick melting all over the inside of a purse and but the worst one was spilling a bottle of dark red nail polish onto my favorite light blue jeans. That NEVER came out.

My worst handbag story involving makeup wasn’t so bad. One of the Lancome lip glosses with the push button on the side opened in the pocket of my purse but luckily I discovered it before it could ALL leak out.
I do have a tip though – NEVER put a piece of fruit in your handbag if you are over the age of 50. NUFF SAID – talk about gross.
LMAO, memory isn’t quite what it used to be. 😀

I had a roll-on perfume explode in my handbag! The handbag had a world map on it, and the perfume bleached it!

I dropped and exploded a brand new bottle of Lancome foundation in my bathroom just a few days after buying it!
I just got a sample from the Jo Malone counter and it broke in my purse soaking it!

My all time favourite story is when I first started wearing lipstick. I was wearing Mac Spice it Up and was shopping with a friend. I was in a store and tried on a *white blouse* which ended up looking frumpy. When I took it off, I realised that the white blouse now had a huge red mark on it. I honestly did not know what to do so I left it on the sale’s associate’s counter, said something like “oh didn’t fit, too bad” and literally ran from the counter. To this day I still feel bad about the incident and never dare wear red lipstick while shopping. Most definitely learned my lesson.

The absolute worst has to be having a full, old school sized MAC pigment explode in your luggage while traveling! I plastic baggie my makeup every time.

Running late for work I spilled a jar of Clinique lose powder on my work clothes and the car. I called in sick… BTW, what are you wearing on your eyes? Those colors are pretty on you.

Ha, ha, ha. What a great question.
When I was about 17 or 18, I was putting on my favorite purple Covergirl quad, when the handy dandy sponge tip came off the applicator. I didn’t have any extras, and I had to be somewhere.
Teens didn’t own/use makeup brushes in the 80’s, unless they came with the makeup. Did I use my finger? A Q-tip? No, that would have made sense. I super-glued the sponge tip back on.
Where it had an instant chemical interaction, audibly “poofed,” and burnt 2 or 3 or my fingertips. So much for being on time to where I was going.

My worst beauty product related disaster involved perfume. I was in choir when I was a child. This happened just before a concert. Our outfit was a white blouse and black skirt. I wanted to put on some perfume beforehand and grabbed one of my mother’s bottles. It was a dark coloured perfume and stained my white blouse after I sprayed it on. 🙁 I only had one white blouse. Thankfully, my mother was able to launder it and clean it up perfectly.
Another time I was doing my nails at 11 and dropped polish on my nightgown.

Oh, no! I can’t believe you missed the party. I can picture me trying to clean myself (and the floor) with a vacuum hose and hair dryer. Then, being like “good enough” on my way out the door. HAHA! My worst makeup mishap was probably when I left my purse in the car in very hot weather and my lipstick melted/gloss leaked and both got all over everything. Sticky mess. That’s about the time I started putting all my purse makeup in a ziploc bag. 🙂

Ohhh girrrl, I’ve got 2 and can’t choose between ’em! The honey-caramel powder all over your white themed outfit is a doozy, btw!
My handbag story would simply be how my Urban Decay Gash lipgloss tube met my brand-new Sherpani bag, which has a black exterior but a very pretty white-based flower-patterned interior. Gash had the audacity to explode in the zippered compartment, which was triply distressing because A) it was a new lip gloss, B) and a new bag, and C) it was my first high-end lip gloss purchased out of my own pocket (i.e, not gifted to me by my mother), and now it was ruined!
The other story would simply be me coming back from the Applebees bathroom to my table one time, and an old high school classmate stopped me in my tracks at the bar to say hello and give me a hug. He was about the same height as me. I leaned in for a good hug and my chin kind of grazed him, and I was mortified when I stepped away and there was a big swipe of foundation on the shoulder of his black t-shirt! I don’t think he noticed, but his friends must have. I must not have set it very carefully that day, but I’ve been vigilant about powdering ever since!
