It’s probably not crazy compared to those transformative looks people do where they turn themselves into mountain lions or green aliens from two galaxies away, but for me it was pretty crazy.
A few years ago I did a Halloween look — I think I was supposed to be a disco diva — with sparkly eyes and super shiny lips.
It was A LOT of look.
But it was made extra cray by the fact that the day I did it, I had painters coming over to paint my kitchen, and so it was me, these two gruff dudes and, like, all this glitter and crazy lipgloss, and I was wearing a black sequined capri-length jumpsuit.
I looked completely insane, and the entire time I’m trying to be cool. I’m like, “Please leave the ceiling color. We’re very happy with that,” and “No need to paint the trim. If you could please just paint the room that flat matte.”
But the whole time I’m dressed like this disco diva crazy person. 🙂
How about you? What’s the craziest, most outrageous look you’ve ever done with your makeup?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S.

That look is so pretty and the sequined jumpsuit looks really sexy on you! The circumstances you were in though- crazy indeed.
I don’t think I have ever created any crazy makeup looks for an occasion other than a Halloween party.
Happy Friday, for once a Friday means a weekend off for me as well 🙂

You make a stunning Disco Diva. Wowsa!
My most outrageous looks have been for Halloween. Last Halloween I was a broken doll, with a big 3D looking hole in my face and cracks radiating out from it, bright pink doll cheeks, etc. I got lots of compliments. About 20 years ago, I did a fantastic witch, with green skin and lot of shading for age lines. I scared the hell out of all the little kids, and I felt bad, so I never recreated it.

I, for one, think that you look stunning. The eyes are to. die. for.
Kiss & Make-up says
Even when you go all crazy with your make-up you look freakin’ AMAZING, Karen! You diva, you!

Having done many Halloween tutorials, I’ve glued daisy petals to my eyelids, been a zombie, a doll, a mermaid-you name it! Most recently though, I did this look for a fuchsia-themed party: http://wakeupformakeup.com/?p=6196

That is awesome – and I’m just laughing, picturing your scene with the painters. They probably thought they were in Real Housewives of Novato. 🙂

I actually think that this is a quite wearable look to a party, minus the necklace. Karen, you look very glamorous!
Crystal says
Love the Nyan Tabs! Glad to know I’m not the only one who turned their kitty into Nyan Cat!

Wowza, you look fabulous, oh disco queen! The craziest makeup look I ever did was not on me but on my boyfriend when I painted him with red face makeup and sprayed his hair red when he dressed up as the devil on Halloween. He looked fabulous all in red. I know that doesn’t count, but I don’t do crazy makeup looks on me, not since I was about age 10
Fancie says
Lol at least you looked great! I love your hair like that and the eye look is pretty damn fierce! The craziest thing I’ve done makeup-wise was sport glittery lids for new years eve one year. It was crazy sparkly but I received a lot of compliments lol

Woo hoot! Disco mamma! Love this look!
Monica.

Strangely, I’ve never done any outrageous makeup. This post, however, makes me think I should. And you look like one hot disco momma! You’re wearing the hell outta that jumpsuit 🙂
Karen says
Boo, did you see that you are reader of the week this week?
TGIF!
Also, I think you could TOTALLY wear some crazy and outrageous makeup. You have the spunk to pull it off, for sure. 🙂
Kwmechelle says
SHUT UP!!!! No friggin’ way!!! Yes, I am a groupie! I am, indeed, that chick who relishes in her ten minutes of fame (insert HUGE cheesy grin here)! I had no idea. I’m such a blond…tehehe! Thanks for featuring me, dude. Means a lot because I feel like we are virtual bff’s (even though I know we’re ALL your bff’s).
In the words of Chanel, “I’m not gonna cry (for you) because my mascara is too expensive!” Although, just so you know, and before all these people on here, I am fanning back tears. Flute BFFs FOREVER
Karen says
Tabs and I just wanted to say thanks for being amaze-balls. 🙂 How was your week? Are you still on auntie duty?
Kwmechelle says
Hey Tabs hey! I had a pretty good week. I got my hair “did” yesterday. I’m rocking Marley braids. Think Zendaya at the Oscars. I TOTALLY love it. I found a wonderful stylist (don’t you just love when that happens) and we’re, like, kindred spirits. I go on official Auntie duty tomorrow. So looking forward to seeing my sweet-thangs 🙂 Now I’m off to finish reading through the posts you just completed; while eating gummie bears and maybe some of my homemade salsa dip & lime Tostitos. #Don’tJudgeMe Aunt Flow is coming for a visit. Blasted *shakes fist in the air*
Karen says
Oh, stunning choice of style! How did you find your stylist? Through a friend or just randomly?
LOL, Aunt Flow and I are chillin’ today. Needless to say, there will be chocolate and popcorn.
Have fun with your cuties tomorrow! Will you guys be doing anything special this weekend? As for me and El Hub, we’re going to brunch at a friend’s tomorrow. I’ll be bringing my big scary camera because I offered to take some pics of her food. My friend is an AMAZING cook — one of those ladies with “the gift” if you know what I mean. Her food could seriously make you cry with pleasure. Mine, on the other hand, would make you cry with pain, HAHA!

A new salon opened up across the street from me a few months back. I took my niece there to get her hair done (in pigtails & candy curls) & the stylist was so good that I asked if she could do my hair. I’m talking, she was so good, that my niece didn’t even turn on the water works like she usually does during a salon visit. One visit later, I went back to get my hair done & I’ve been hooked ever since. Not exactly sure what the plans are for the kiddos but I know it will involve lots of screaming & yelling & laughter. Oh and the kids will be making fun noises, too.
Your weekend plans sound fun. I hope you’ll post your pics of your friend’s food on your blog. You’re such a good photographer & I’m all for “eating” vicariously through you. Here’s to good food, fabulous makeup, & capturing it all on camera. Carpe diem, dude!
Karen says
It is SO HARD to find a great stylist. Congrats! It literally took me years to find the gal who does my hair now (my friend Alis); she might be moving to Vegas in a year and I’m already stressing about who’s gonna handle my hurr! GAHHH.
I hope you have SOOO much fun with the kiddos this weekend. 🙂
CARPE DIEM!
Jenny says
HAHAHA looooove the cat gif. Nyan cat for the win! Tabs Nyan Cat? Lol.
I think the craziest look I’ve done is a complete Jack Skellington look. It was actually pretty good!
Karen says
He looks good in a pink Pop Tart, doesn’t he? LOL
Iris says
Love your 70’s look. My craziest was in high school and uni when I used to wear black lipstick everyday. My parents hated it.
Fran says
Karen, the makeup you did really is beautiful! Yes, the jewels at the base of the lashes and the amount of shine make it too dramatic for most of us for daytime (and hilarious in the context of your day), but there’s nothing crazy about it!
The craziest makeup look I’ve worn was not done by me. I was a model for a Make Up For Ever class for makeup artists. For the class where they teach how to cover up hyperpigmentation. Jessie Powers, a managing educator for Make Up For Ever, painted a port wine stain, a bruise, some age spots, and some additional rosacea-type discoloration (I did contribute some naturally) on my bare face, and then I walked out into the mall to use the restroom before the class got started! And I usually won’t leave my apartment without at least some tinted moisturizer and tinted brow gel on. I had so much fun at that class, and learned a lot, too, because I got to stay and watch the other classes. Jessie was so knowledgeable and so much fun, and so were the other makeup artists there. Everyone was very kind and appreciative of people willing to sit there and be stared at while their faces were being painted. I really hope I get to do it again some day.

Being that I was full on goth for over 10 years, it’s hard to pinpoint a specific look 🙂
Jane says
Ok, sooo gorgeous! Halston would be proud!
Now. Where did you get that pantsuit?
Majick says
I’d have to say the craziest was full on witch face complete with big warty nose and another wart with a hair coming out of it. LOL oh yeah, I was purrrrty.
Which brings me to my cat makeup (from Cats of course). Then there was the 3D horror makeup but I covered it with a sexy black hat with a veil – scared the bejeezies out of the people who had to lift the veil. LMAO
Did I mention I LOVE Halloween?
