I can’t believe I used to spend 2-3 hours on my makeup ALL THE TIME.
For that matter, I can’t believe I used to have 2-3 uninterrupted hours to spend on my makeup, LOL! That’s what I was doing a few years ago, putting in a few hours for every look, but I was in a hardcore learning mode, and I was taking pics of everything I did and learned for MBB. And whenever a camera gets involved, my makeup always takes longer, because I’m trying to be extra careful that everything is symmetrical and that my lighting is right. Plus, I usually use a remote control with the camera, and sometimes it’s a struggle to get a decent pic where I’m not blinking, fidgeting or cringing.
Hmm… The longest I’ve ever spent was probably about three hours (!). I know that I’ve spent most of an entire afternoon before, but it was half learning, half playing.
These days, though, an hour is my max, and that’s usually when the Coywolf is sleeping. Most days, I spent 20 minutes.
But I totally miss doing the uber-glam stuff! I miss having extra time to play and paint my face and express myself, and I miss being able to say, “Hey, I did that!”
I really have to remember to schedule some “me time” for one of these weekends coming up so I can lose myself in blending again. Makeup is SO MUCH FUN.
What about you, sweets? What’s the longest you’ve ever spent on a makeup look?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I don’t think I have ever spend more than 1 hour on a look, which is probabl why I will never be as skilled as you are. These days 20 minutes at max, maybe a little long when I film a tutorial for You Tube. But still no more than one hour.

I will spend a couple hours before a big event, but it’s not like straight on putting on makeup the whole time. I set up netflix on my little laptop, usually do a sheet mask, hot rollers sometimes, and do my complete skincare and makeup so I look and feel my best.
For a normal day to day but sort of special look it’s more like 40 minutes, and to run out and do groceries 6.

The most I’ve spent on my makeup is maybe 45 to 50 minutes? I don’t know, I don’t usually time it. If we’re going out fancy I usually give myself an hour to pick out an outfit, do my makeup and get dressed.
Most days I spend about 10-15 minutes doing my makeup.

I think I did 2 hours once when I was attending a wedding. Probably spending 1 hour when it’s a special event. Normally I’m the lazy 10-15 minutes person (hence my pics are never as pretty as yours! Your hard work is really showing!)
Totally agree with having some days for elaborate looks. That’s my original plan for doing this 100 days of makeup… as an excuse to try out new things :).

In my opinion, spending more than 30 minutes means you are doing too much.

I figure if national celebrity makeup artists can complete a runway worthy look in about 30 minutes, I should be able to complete a causual everyday look easily in that amount of time. That being said, excluding skincare prep, the actual makeup application takes me 20-30 minutes. Evening looks might take me closer to 45. I do wear a full face–foundation, highlighter, blusher, finishing powder, lipstick/lipgloss, eyeshadows, eyeliner, mascara, and occasionally I’ll have a bald spot in my brow that needs filling in. At this point in time, my life is for living; not spending hours at the vanity.

When I dry run a new makeup look for competition, it can take me two hours at first just because it’s new. I eventually get the makeup down to about 30-45 minutes (that’s from nothing on my face to skin prep to the last step, lips.) My hair actually takes the same amount of time on dry runs if I do something new. It’s all about practice to get down to that 1 hour – 1 hour 20 minutes sweet spot. I hate taking longer than that.
The longest time I ever took even after dry running was the Black Swan look for Halloween. That took 2 hours. It felt like a lifetime. Most days I take…5-10 minutes. XD

About an hour and a half for me, but that’s usually with really involved eyes. My normal makeup is 5 to 20 minutes. During the day, I work from home so I usually am just doing skincare and maybe a product or two. If I need to do a conference (video) or meeting (also video), I’ll spend a bit longer. If I’m going out I will do about 20 minutes worth unless I’m going to be photographed.
